My grandparents have a small bar in their house and they had a 15 on the shelf. I helped myself to a sip and loved it! They let me take it home :)

The 15 is so often overlooked and like you said, it's not very complex, but it's really a very nice, well balanced, affordable whisky
It's one of those drams that can just simply be enjoyed when you're not in the mood to spend time nosing and writing stuff down 👌

I'd definitely recommend trying it at least once. It's not very complex but nice just the same!
One of my absolute Favs. My Father gave me my last Bottle and told me it was his Fav, when he was still drinking Whisky.
By the Way. There is a 15 Year Old Distillery Edition. Which is not made in the Solera System, Non Chill-Filtered, 51 %/just about Cask-Strenght.
I've heard about the distillery edition but I've never tried it! One day!

My local shop owner rang a bottle up for me, knowing my tastes. Took it home straightaway to try. It's elegant, round, and delicious. Has a winter "holiday" vibe. Will make this a staple.
Vin, Good description of the solera process. I remember as it relates to sherry. We found this at a Whisky Bar and enjoyed so bought a bottle. Here in South Carolina it's about $65. Not too much for a decent scotch. I prefer the Glendronach 12 and the Bunna 12 and they are around $55. Just picked up a bottle of the Aberlour A'bunadh at $80 and looking forward to cracking that one open soon. Cheers!!
The a’bunadh was one of my favourite drams until last year when it received a hefty price increase. Massive sherry bomb

Interesting you found them identical! Unlikely that you chanced into having 2 drams from the same batch. Each of the 3 sources I've had it from (multiple drams each time over a couple of years) I've found it notably different. Certainly a very common theme but shifting from prominent sherry fruits to caramely tones etc. Saw a bottle for ~£30 recently and still couldn't convince myself to buy it ... guess I'm not a fan 🥃👍
Oddly, I was expecting to find them different but I genuinely couldn't get any tangible difference. Could be worth exploring in greater depth 🤔

The vat truly is HUGE. If you do the Glenfiddich tour, they take you into the building that houses the vat. Not sure how many gallons it holds but you could swim in it.
I tried to find the exact size of it online but no info. Saw a few photos though and really did look massive. Don’t they have a couple too?
I only remember seeing one but it was a few years ago (2014) that I visited the Glenfiddich distillery so my memory might be letting me down.

The 15 is my favourite Glenfiddich, I mean it's not the 21 and 26 year old are my favourites but I can't afford them, and it's been a fantastic dram for years.

Hey Vin thanks for your reviews, enjoying them a lot! Was curious to ask you, why you seem to have a preference for higher ABV?
A good question. I’m not really sure! I kinda prefer big bold flavours and I think the abv helps that along.
I recently covered this in my first blind tasting video. Having had the 15 previously, I was surprised that I didn't pick it out when blind tasting it against the 12 and the 18 year old. I found that it was my favourite and it tasted better when comparing to two other solid offerings from Glenfiddich. I wonder how much blending is mastered before they marry it all in the Solera?

You can't go wrong with Monkey Shoulder if you fancy a bit of smoke in your whisky and if you prefer without go for a Glenfiddich 12.

The 15 year old Distillery Edition bottled at 51% ABV is and was my favorite Glenfiddich... All others are pale by comparison
