  • Use this drill to help your players move together as a team, press the ball high (and effectively), and create overloads in possession.
This drill is super simple, just a 20 x 20 yard area with four goals. The half way line can be marked out with cones, so the players know the area they must go in to score.
The goal of the drill is for the teams to score - but it only counts if all of the attacking players are in the opponents half!

What software did you use to create the animation?

Very good. If a set of 3 players miss the goal of fail to score, do you keep them all on and have them reset or does that attacking team come off?

Great question mate. Typically I would have both teams off and start with two fresh teams. Ball starting with the other team.
Example : if the red team shoots and misses. Two new teams come onto the pitch, with the blue team starting with the ball. Thanks again for asking this, and hope that clears it up!

    Any progressions to suggest mate?

maybe more of an adaption and less progression, but sometimes will split the square down the middle again. So to have 4 sections. The rules then stay the same, but all players need to be in one square....works well for teams who train to press high and look to overload attackers early.

Do you limit touches at all?

    • @KSPerformance

      Thanks for asking.
Depends on what the goals of the session. Limiting touches does seem to speed dup play as the players look to move forward faster, and also encourages the players to get up together more. If the team is struggling to stay together, I would use a touch limitation. See how it goes and please share!

@@KSPerformance I’m having a hard time with hero ball and bunching with my U13 team. No matter what we do in drills for practice, they get on the field and forget it all. Incredibly frustrating

@teddoherty8325 try using a 2 or 3 second rule then must pass!
