This is one of things I put on my list to fix in my house this year. I bought the kit over the weekend but I'm having more difficulty than usual finding the joists in my home. I'll try the vent guide late today.
Try using a deep Scan Stud finder, was having the same issue in my living room worked great. And figure my house wasn’t per code because they were all over in the wrong measurements.
I purchased this online and used 250 screws in one room, which has actually made the squeaking worse now. Is it possible that it’s so tight now that the original nails are loose and squeaking. Ugh, so frustrating!
Nate I’m sorry to hear that, it sounds very frustrating. I had a similar problem in one of the rooms it’s like the Joist was shorter or not where it should be had to use a number of screws for one spot. But If the floorboard is tight against the Joist there shouldn’t be any separation causing the squeaking. I also went in at an angle on some of them Rather than straight down that seem to help with the stubborn spots.
I guess I got lucky? But then I understand how my house is built and how joists works. Find the Joist or hire a professional joist noun a length of timber or steel supporting part of the structure of a building, typically arranged in parallel series to support a floor or ceiling

Thank you sir
Wouldn’t recommend randomly screwing screws in to a floor blind to cables pipes etc
You’re absolutely right Steve first lesson in DIY project seek professional advice first.
I bought that kit but could never hit a joist great vid , thx.
Try a stud finder that has a deep scanning option
Have you ever misfire like not hit stud? Will it still work
Yes sometimes that happens but if the fasteners don’t hit the joist then the noises in the sub-flooring won’t go away.

@@NOLLEKEntertainment how far of an angle did you go in at?
Is this a mobile home?
No
Can’t find them at any store in Canada
Amazon seems to be the best option the seller has a store on there
What if I don't have the vents , where do I start to find a joist
A stud finder that has a deep scanning option also works very well. If that fails measure the distance from you side walls. I hope that helps
mine are SOOOO annoying that it keep me awake when others are still up and walking around. We used this tool but didnt help.
No good, you must remove carpet then repair floor properly right
Worked great and still holding 2 years later. When I finally replaced my carpet will do a proper job but as for now this fixed worked
You are drilling in to the total unknown,,,,pipes wires🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 thus making holes in the carpet. Dear oh dear screw heads visible in the carpet.
