This would've been perfect if they didn't give the Red Hood Helmet goddamn lips.
Made me laugh. It looked like his regular helmet/mask in the first panels, then those fkn lips came out of nowhere lmao

I hate this helmet design so much. JUST PUT EYES IN THE DAMN THING AND CALL IT A DAY.
I'm pretty sure people forget that Jason is amped from the Lazarus pit so whilst he may not be as physically strong as Slade he can definitely hold his own.
Most writers don't think that a permanent strength boost from the Lazarus pit is even a thing.
For one thing, Jason is closer to Bruce physically despite his age compared to the more acrobatic build Dick has. Not only did Bruce once push Jason to fight him hand-to-hand and punch Bruce so hard all Bruce could do was stand while Jason walked away, in the Injustice timeline Jason made his vigilante entrance in his MID-twenties, and he beat both Batman and even Wildcat in a fight.
And another, Jason has the ability to on occasion go Liu Kang on people's asses with his All Blades, so he's more used to fighting people with higher tier reflexes, speed and strength, although even he admits he can't fight a mid tier amazon directly, and he can do it only for brief periods of time, otherwise he's not doing it. One time he goes mystic ninja on people is when he rushed a superman-tier giant on War World being grappled by Mongol 2 and cut his legs.
Slade also admits his stats are also slightly weakened due to a prior comic, but not enough to lose to someone he initially thought was a rookie, but wasn't.

And because of this people forget that the man was a kid and still fought Batman who takes on Deathstroke on the regular.

It is quite an interesting fight between these two. You have Slade who is a super soldier with military training and this new armor that protects him from Superman's punches. Then there's Red Hood who was trained by Batman and resurrected by Ras Al Ghul and later trained by him.
Plus red hood is ruthless.
Slade was also a trained member of the league of the assassins
If his armor could protect him from melee attacks from super man how the fuck is he even able to get shot? That's confusing as hell.
@@qr5393 its similar to how plating can protect from bullets but not shockwaves from explosions.
Not all defenses are effective against the same weaponry or attacks.
@@ParagonGoetia However you'd expect superman's punches to have far more PSI compared to a bullet, because he's fucking superman. Meaning his armor should easily deflect bullets.

I honestly loved this art, and the reason he has a mouth on the mask is because it was like a nano tech that formed more around his face. I know most people dont like this look but im telling you the art was top tier in the early issues of Red Hood and the Outlaws!

As much as I love Red Hood, I knew he couldn't take down Slade without some sort of catch.
Well Slade just didn't have his healing and he was a bit tired from what he did at lex corp
The only catch was Slades healing factor was weakened. That's it.
As much as I love Deathstroke, I know that Red Hood could beat him in a fight with both at full potential. It would never be one-sided between them.
This was back during New 52 which was god awful. This was just a continual case of bad writing with Deathstroke.

As much as I love my man redhood, if he most of the time looses to nightwing, then he won't beating Deathstroke without some sort of catch.
In one of the comics he says he always holds back when fighting someone from the bat family including Batman so we probably won’t ever know tbh

did you not watch the video?? The catch is outright stated. Slade is poisoned and just went through hell in lexcorp. And then red hood jumped him. Against anyone in the bat family Slade can't overcome that.
At full strength, he usually beats Bruce and Jason. Dick just recently overcome him and I think can officially be stated as better. I'd say Dick is probably the outright best combatant nowadays in the family. With Jason being the strongest and Cass being the most skilled. And of course theres still Bats himself, the most well rounded.

He also doesn't have his normal Nth Metal armor that would nullify anything Redhood could even dish out.

It wouldn't really matter Jason has his All Blades and other utility to handle slade he best Cassandra Cain Lady Shieva Grayson and Batman
The artist really went all in with giving Red Big-O's face plastered on his helmet. Can't blame'em if that's the case, it's a cool mech
I like to think Redhood could still come out on top had Deathstroke not have been weakened. May not be as clean, but he doesn't use restraint like Batman does. One of the reasons Deathstroke comes out on top most of the time (he said so himself). Hence why in Arkham Origins, Batman was able to beat Deathstroke because he wasn't holding back (this is demonstrated when Deathstroke uses the remote claw to try and hit Batman with gas tanks, and Batman catches them and throws them back at Deathstroke).

If I'm not mistaken, Slade in this moment was really far from his best state, he had been poisoned I think.
Slade already defeated Red hood in a Titans comic without much difficulty, he's obviously stronger than him.
Slade also fought his Dark Multiverse counterpart

Had to go to the comments to figure out how this is possible and not just horrible writing. Slade not having his usual body armor and his typical mono blades not cutting trash can lids bothered me. At his best Slade should be able to brush RH off like a small child.

Well I mean three things.... Wilson isn't at his best, the writers needed him to lose here, and I mean Todd isn't a pushover even if he lost RH would make Slade work for it.
Slade wasn't at 100%, plus red hood is no slouch even if Slade was at 100% red hood would still give him alot of trouble and could possibly even squeak out a win.

To be fair, it’s DCYou Deathstroke. Who’s inconsistent and sucks. It was a bad era. He has two eyes, he’s deaged, and is given brown/black hair just because of CW’s Arrow, despite Slade always being canonically blonde. And when asked why he’s not blonde after being deaged, the author of the run said ehhh he just has dark hair now.
It really was holy crap. So thankful that Rebirth Deathstroke brought him back to his former glory. Honestly even made him an even better character than he already was.
Deathstroke: canonically beat the shit out of Duck Grayson, the most dangerous protege of Batman

Slade’s healing factor being nerfed is huge since it’s actually more like an “adaptation factor” as it adapts to various phenomena so he can’t be hurt by it again or as badly. A much tamer version of Doomsday’s healing factor.
I think they didnt want the two to have a similar helmets? Maybe thats why red has the lips...

Agreed. For some people, surviving Slade at all is a feat. Beating nerfed Slade is impressive no matter how you cut it.
