    How cool would it have been if her nail polish was red for her right hand???

    Why are you filming the patient? I want to see what she does on the audiometer.

      +Biker Girl I am sorry you would like more of the audiometer. The videos are not only for learning the machine, but are also about patient care. I am sure that the company has tutorials if you are interested in learning more about how to operate the machine. We are using the Inventis Harp Plus.

    Please, as a hearing instrument specialist in training, it benefits me to SEE what the Audiologist is doing and HEAR the patient. Not the other way around. Great video otherwise, and thank you for your time and energy.

    Hi Rebecca,Good video. I am trying to use AB (one syllable) word testing in the UK for multiple test centres (+170). Are you using a word list of X amount of words per list and adjusting the intensity of the word based upon the previous result (similar to PTA?). I am wondering how you determine the 50% score using the bracketing technique you have demonstrated? I would really appreciate your advice....Thanks!

      For Speech Recognition Threshold we use two syllable words (spondees). We present 2-3 words per intensity change. Much like pure tone audiometry testing. Present 2-3 words, if the patient gets them correct (at least 2/3) then we decrease 10dB until the patient is no longer able to repeat 2/3 or 50% of the words correct, then we increase by 5dB until they can repeat 50% again and lastly verify our results. Great books to review these concepts are "Basic Audiometry Learning Manual": tinyurl.com/jeapzgn and "Introduction to Audiology": tinyurl.com/haq6za6. I hope this helps! Rebecca Krouse

    I wish my SRT was -10 dB HL.

    SRT starts at PTA (pure tone average). I think they’ve changed the rules since this was taken. ?

      Dan Hi! Thank you for your comment! SRT starting levels can be found in multiple ways, depending on the book you read! Starting at PTA is certainly an option!

    What is the patient's 'MCL' that you refer to around twenty six seconds? Maximum Comfort Level?
    P.S. Did you notice that the Audiometer spelled 'stairway' incorrectly? ['stariway'] ;}

    • @LetsRopeUp
      @LetsRopeUp  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MCL is the patient's Most Comfortable Listening Level recorded by using cold running speech and increasing or decreasing the presentation level until the patient reports a level where they normally listen to the TV or radio. You should be able to find a video of MCL being tested on our channel. Thank you for the great question!
