if you like movies with a lot going on, I recommend Cloud Atlas. movie has like 7 different storylines but they all connect at the end. def worth a watch if that's your cup of tea.
My mom took me to see this film as a reward for doing my homework when I was 7 yo. I'm glad i got to remember the story as it was 11 years ago

This film was made by Luc besson in 2010 (The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec). That’s an adaptation of a french comic book from author Jacques Tardi. Tardi also drew and wrote stories about WWI in France.

I watched this many years ago. It was so weird and unpredictable. The female protagonist is also unlike the usual hollywood dishes out, so i find her interesting. I had hoped that there would be a sequel.

Me too. I wished Adele to have survived.
That is one of the most original movies out there from start to finish, i believe that she survived the Titanic and maybe met Jack and Rose, its nice referencing other movies too and adding to the story something that Hollywood has forgotten all about.
The Titanic is a real story though, real ship that sank in 1912. The reference comes from these events rather than the movie I guess

I actually own a DVD of this movie in French and subtitled in English. Loved it and thought it was unique and entertaining. Also loved the lead actress, her portrayal kinda reminded me of a cross between Indiana Jones and Evie O'Connell from The Mummy.

This is a beautiful comment. For the record, as an American who has been heavily influenced by Hollywood's portrayal of Egypt, I don't view ancient Egypt as dark or scary. I have always imagined it to be majestic and unrivaled. If I could visit one place, it would be Egypt during the height of it's ancient civilization.
Hollywood simply doesn't aim at educating. It has "created" its own idols and earned billions maybe trillions of dollars in a few decades. Hollywood certainly won't last 10 thousand years lol
because it was revealed what horrible things were done back then. But the same things were done by the rest too, but no1 sheds a light on it.
I mean a few things. Plot. What movie set in modern ties cares about their agriculture? Also religious panic. They believe in a sky daddy, whereas Egyptians had many. Also the pharaohs apparently did come from the gods and have powers so it makes sense. Apparently Cleopatra would do magic tricks to further cement such things. I adored how intelligent and wise she was. Definitely my favorite leader of Egypt so far.
occult historian here, although my area of knowledge more concerns assyriology, i did dabble in ancient Egyptian occultism for 10 years, i have to say, although you are correct, the fact that civilisations of the time had the common practise of "history being written by the victors" makes much of the facts muddied, so regardless of how factual your comment is, the true history is unknown due to the practise of pharaohs and other people throughout history rewriting history to fit the narrative they want
Sometimes these movies recaps are just better than watching the movies themselves.

We watched this movie in French class years ago. I remember the teacher paused it at a point with cars on the screen and asked everyone what year they thought it was. Nearly everyone said it was clearly the 1950s. I looked at them like they were crazy and said it was around the turn of the century. Probably 1910. Everyone thought I was wrong... Until the Titanic showed up. Man those people were dumb 😂
