grateful for you bro, nobody really makes fz6 videos and i just got mine about a month and a half ago so i've been lost on mods etc lmao. Stay safe bud
If you look in front of the battery box youl find the harness connector that runs to the front fairing. On the fairing side of the connector youl find 2 of the pins unpopulated and one of those pins is actually wired in on the bike side (solid green), this unused wire is actually meant for that second low beam and will switch on when the low beams come on and most importantly switch off when you switch to high beam. It was always meant to be dual low beam and all the control equipment is fitted to the bike from factory but I guess regulations changed.
Yep the wire is there right where the wire harness comes through the frame on the left side like you said properly switched to turn off when the high beam is on and everything.
Got an fz6 as my first bike and literally everyone I show the bike to asks me if my second low beam is broken, I'm pretty sure some drivers even flashed me to "warn" me about it too. Thanks for the videos!
My 2007 fz6 voltage will drop very low if i ise anything but led head lights if i ise halogen bulbs the voltage drops very low. Do you know what the problem could be. Have changed the rectifier stator and battery voltage is fine with led lights though
Had a thought after reading that this strains the bulb a lot if you use the high beam with it (since both filaments of it would be on) - a switch here instead of a direct connection with a wire would probably be good and it wouldn't take too much effort.
Ya it does strain the bulb a bit more. I've had this setup for years with no issues. With that said, I don't ride for several minutes with my high beam on. I only use it to flash or briefly look ahead on a dark street.
Just found your channel. I appreciate your quality videos and clear how-to's, reminiscent of "The Inja's" channel before he sold the FZ6 and started buying scams online
Thanks for sharing your video with clear instructions. Three weeks ago I also bought a Yamaha FZ6 S2 Fazer. I also plan to connect the light on the right side. Does this instruction also apply when you replace the standard lighting with LED lighting?
@CalvinMC: I wanted to do this dual headlight mod to my 2008 FZ6 for the longest time but I didn't do it simply because I couldn't find any TH-cam videos showing how to do it. Furthermore, hopefully by now you have posted a video on how to convert the FZ6 headlights to LED. And finally, the links to the (WTVa's mod) and to the silly fender ("FAZR6's excellent FE kit") cannot be reached and IDK why. Thanks for uploading this video.
hello my friend.i would like to give you an idea for a new video for the head lights.remove the cable for the lights tha yamaha give power to H7 head light.then make a brige from the green cable so give power for the two head lights.change the H7 lumb with H4 and you have 2 lights on the midle posision and 2 on the big position.
Would you be able to do a mod that replaces all the bulbs with LEDs? Or HEDS to be honest I’m super lost on all that light bulb stuff, my dream would be low beam on the left and high on the right like stock but all in something crazy bright. Super great video!
I know this video is old, and I thank you for it's creation. I have a question tho, could you make a video on how to make both lights low and high beam, I like how you made the right one a low beam as well, but can you make the left one high beam also? or vise versa I might have em mixed up but I think you know what I mean
Thanks for the content - i thought my FZ6 right headlight wiring was kaput but you have explained well that it factory set that way - all very confusing but the two headlights in the distnace thing really makes sense - so im leaving mine with just the one headlight on. Many many thanks though as id spend ages trying to fix that - hehe
I think it is. You would need the front bracket/brace that holds the front fairing to assemble the front end around but I think the mounting points on the frame are the same across the FZ6n and FZ6S. Best of luck. Those front end parts can be hard to find and not cheap because they often get damaged in a crash.
Thanks! The windshield is from Yamaha, it's their touring model windshield for the FZ6. I wasn't able to find a site that is still selling it but this is the windshield. www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemcatalogs/p/all/yamaha_motorcycle_accessories-windshields_wind_protection/5632a2d487a866079834c2e4/fz6-touring-windshield
does this mean that on H4 side are both low and high beam on at same time? If so, it is not good idea. More heat leads to bulb malfunction or even worse entire light meltdown
I did this, using the green wire from the connector under the battery and I must say it: this dual headlight mod just eats the battery. It brings up an additional consumption of about 1.2v, which is huge. Most of the time, it doesn't even allow the regulator to charge the battery, not to mention when it's hot outside and the radiator fan starts to spin. So, unfortunately I gave up on this mod and the charging is perfect now.
Interesting research you’ve done. Considering how much electrical draw the stock headlights have I’ve been thinking about doing an LED conversion to lower power consumption but maintain light on the road
@@Calvinm It wasn't much of a research. It was more like a discovery when my battery let me down one day. Although I did mount a voltmeter display to see the battery voltage at any time, I thought the charging was normal: 13v on cold idle, 12v on normal idle, about 13.5v on high rev. Sometimes, when the radiator fan was on, it couldn't even touch 12v on idle, or 13v on high rev . Then, a motorcyclist fellow told me to pay attention on that second light that draws more energy than I thought. So, after I fully recharged the battery, I checked the regulator voltage with and without the second light: that's how I discovered this difference even on idle, 14.5v (the maximum value of the regulator) without the second light vs. 13.3 with the second light. So, unfortunately, I decided to keep just on single beam as it is from the factory settings. I also thought about the LED option. I don't know the regulations in your state, but here, in Romania, the Police can confiscate your motorcycle registration certificate for using aftermarket lights, or usually any other aftermarket mods. But anyway, I wanted to say thank you very much for all your videos. They helped me a lot last year when I bought my bike and I had to service it and change all the fluids.
Yes!.. Thank you for this comment. I have been having charging issues with my bike and it had this mod on it when I bought it. The voltage would just keep slowly going down and when the fans kicked on it would really drop. The stator and regulator checked out fine so cut that dame wire with my multimeter hooked to the battery and it jumped up to 13.1 volts and stayed there at idle I don’t recommend this mod for the FZ6.
Europe buys more Japanese bikes than USA and Canada and eu passed a law to say bikes can only have one headlight on dipped beam unless they share a lens. Yamaha just didn't want to have too many configurations.
I solved this by ditching the crappy, heavy fairing, and running 1 headlight. You know, the fairing with a windscreen too low to be of use unless you tuck, and then what's the point of having it. Slapped on a 7 inch round with h4. Light is just as good, AND easier to adjust.
The H4 bulb (the one that can turn to high beam) is dimmer than the H7. An easier way (while not cheaper) to get more light is to use better bulbs. Example, the Osram nigh breaker does provide more and brighter light. And if your country allows for it, change them to LED bulbs (just get informed in the model). This is a pretty cool video and I like the tutorial you make, but my brain would go full-on paranoid mode with two beams on while going through an intersection. Personally, the slight increase in light is not worth the risk :)

Doesn't this remove power from the other light? They will probably both still work but won't they be dimmer
Brother am having Fazer 153cc in India, where only single light turns on for High beam and Low beam, can the same step be followed for this ?

The only safe way is with a projector beam mod. The left bulb is different than the right and only has a single filament.

It must be done. I put small switch, using it out of town where is no city lights.

Use LEDs I guess
@@Jan-cg1pq Don't use LEDs. They do not have the right type of beam in this motorcycle. It will not be safe.
