- The Book of Jasher (Book of the Righteous). Part 4. Chapters 46-67. From Joseph to Amram. The Egyptian captivity. The Old Testament Apocrypha. The authentic Annals of the early Hebrews. Translated from rabbinical Hebrew by Moses Samuel. The ancient Book of Jasher is referenced in Joshua 10/13; 2 Samuel 1/18; And 2 Timothy 3/8. The book is historical text that covers the time period from Creation through Israel's journey into Canaan. This is LibriVox recording and is in PUBLIC DOMAIN. Narrated by CJ Plogue. The illustrations: "Joseph before Paraoh" by J. Tissot and "Joseph Overseer of the Pharaoh's Granaries" by Lawrence Tadema (1874). Both pictures are in PUBLIC DOMAIN due to the age expiry.

There are several (as many as five) separate works by this title, all composed much later than Biblical times. This particular one is a translation of a Hebrew book printed in 1613. Sepir Ha Yasher, the Hebrew title of this book, means the 'Book of the Upright', or 'the Upright or Correct Record'. This title was misread as 'Jasher', and at some point Jasher was treated as a proper name; however the pronoun 'the' (hebrew 'ha') never preceeds proper names. This text covers much of the same ground as the traditional Mosaic books of the Bible, from the creation of the world to the death of Moses, albeit with several minor variations.

An Angel visits Joseph and teaches him all the Languages of the Earth. Joseph is proclaimed Governor of Egypt. Is given the Daughter of Potiphar for a Wife.
50 - Joseph goes to help the Ishmaelites against their Enemies. Great Plenty prevails in Egypt as Joseph predicted. Joseph's Two Sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. Joseph stores up Food throughout Egypt. That stored by the Egyptians is spoiled. The Famine.
51 - Jacob sends his Ten Oldest Sons to Egypt for Food. Tells them not to enter in at one gate but to go in Separately. On the way they Covenant together to seek for Joseph, and if they cannot ransom him they resolve to take him by force.
52 - Jacob's sorrow at the absence of Simeon; Refuses to let Benjamin go. But when he and his Household become pinched with hunger, Judah pleads for Benjamin.
53 - Jacob's Sons again go to Egypt for Bread. Benjamin is presented before Joseph. Joseph's Cup. Joseph's conduct towards Benjamin by which he makes himself known to him.
54 - Judah breaks through the Door to get to Joseph and Benjamin. He recounts the many Mighty Deeds of his Brethren and threatens to destroy all Egypt if Benjamin be not released. Joseph accuses the brethren of Selling their Brother.
55 - The Lord commands Jacob to go down to Egypt, where He will make him a great Nation. Joseph and all Egypt go to meet Jacob to do him Honor when he arrives. The Land of Goshen is given to him and his Children.
56 - After Seventeen Years' Dwelling in Egypt, Jacob dies. Joseph and his Brethren and all the Mighty Men of Egypt go up to Canaan to Bury Jacob.
57 - The Sons of Esau make war with the Sons of Jacob and are smitten. Some are taken captive to Egypt.
58 - Pharaoh dies and the whole Government of Egypt devolves upon Joseph, Pharaoh the Younger being but a nominal Ruler. The Children of Esau again come Against the Israelites.
59 - Jacob's Posterity in Egypt. After Prophesying that the Lord would Deliver his Brethren from Egypt, Joseph dies and is buried, and the Israelites are ruled over by the Egyptians.
60 - Zepho, the Son of Eliphaz, the Son of Esau, who was taken Captive by Joseph where he Buried his Father, Escapes from Egypt with all his Men.
61, 62, 63 - Petty Wars and contentions of the Nations of Africa with Zepho.
64 - Zepho Leads a Great Army of Chittimites, Edomites, and Ishmaelites against Egypt. 300.000 Egyptians put to Flight, but 150 Men of Israel prevail against Zepho.
65 -The Elders of Egypt conspire with Pharaoh and cunningly bring Israel into Bondage.
66 - Pharaoh Decrees that every Male Child born in Israel shall be Killed.
67 - Aaron is Born. Pharaoh's decree - many of the Sons of Israel live apart from their Wives.

Read the book of Jubilees and the book of Enoch, they fill in with many more bits of information also!
Try reading the 400 years of history removed from between the old and new testaments when KJV revised in 1867.
Yet they call it a holy Bible 😡
I knew Joseph's Story before but had no ideal of all of the whole story of their family and the power that God gave them and all the battles that God won for them. It just goes to show that we need to all raise our voices to Heaven for God to bring down this evil that rules us now. He shows to be faithful for those who serve and Love Him. This is a powerful book and I'm blessed to have heard it. God bless us all....... and some of you need to stop being so petty!

I cried bitterly it touched me deeply. I repented before God for not knowing more about him and the power and the might He bestowed upon His people. I loved the story of Joseph and his brother's encounter and how they fought for their younger brother. It gives the story backbone, unlike what we read in the bible. The Bible is good but these WRITINGS ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT!

You obviously believe that all the biblical Hollywood movies and the ones here on TH-cam that depict the biblical characters as Caucasians is fact and it's not true. It just rubs me the wrong way when I see that with all the dark skinned actors in the world. A half truth is still a lie. Also, not everyone's blood is the same. If that were so, then there would be no need for a blood test before marriage. There's different types A, B, AB, O, RH positive, RH negative. The bible is our history book that was kept from us for a reason. The powers that be understand this more than you do. There was a reason they painted the faces of the prophets white so they could give us a white Jesus to bow down to because when we bowed to him, we were bowing to our oppressors when they had my ancestors enslaved. Well I will never forget how my ancestors were treated (no more than how the Jews will not let us forget the holocaust) and how we're still treated to this very day by racist beings God was angry with His people for their transgressions against Him so He punished us by sending us into slavery--thank God this was the last--but He never meant for all the atrocities that were done against us to happen. It was shocking enough for us to be stripped from our families, homes, and everything we knew and our names changed and treated worse than their animals. No I cannot forget so to see a show about my ancestors depicting them as the very people who enslaved us is a slap in the face. Understand this though, the Gentile's reign is almost over and the Israelites will rise. Sure there will be all ethnicity in God's new kingdom but there will be an hierarchy. The Israelites will rule with Christ at the helm and the Gentile's will be the servants just as we served our masters in the lands of our captivity.
I've listened to this particular story a few times and am in awe of the powers of the Hebrews. They were very powerful. God blessed them with immense strength. Makes me think of dragon ball z characters. Lol. Makes me feel so weak and farther from the Father than I want and need to be.

The picture portrayed may be what Egypt looks like today but at the time that book was written, all the people, Egyptians, Israelites, people of Chittem, Esau and his people, Zepho, the Africans, children of Ishmael, all of them were a dark skinned people.
