These announcers are so great. I wish the 64 scene was larger. I feel like of all Smash games it has the least amount of douchebags and a lot of friendly players, Isai being one of the most friendly.
Nintendude seems like a nice commentator when hes not swarmed with battlecows erection for Isai. There were so many points in this entire video where it wasnt commentating, but cheering for isai. Battlecow doesn't understand commentating but he was so excited to be there it seems.
Braleven Yeah Nintendude is great. I love how enthusiastic Battlecow is. But it's exhausting. Understandable though. I had a huge boner for Isai in this set.
Great matches but the one commentator was way to combative to everything the other one said. Example: 'Some Isai chants' then he replies 'Shouts, not chants. I'm going to start a chant'. Or, 'I feel these players are on his level' 'no, they're not.' 'Well, I just fe-' 'No, they're not.' GREAT INPUT BUDDY! Really descriptive and engaging input.
Yeah I know. Nintendude did a great job but, it's hard when you're getting shut down by a commentator. He shut Nintendude up and I really like his commentary so that kinda sucked.
I think he was just excited. I kind of took the 'I'm going to start a chant' as him acknowledging that he came off wrong and wanted to bring it back to chants.
Isai is my favorite Smasher of all time, hands down. He just enjoys playing and doesn't take the game too serious like M2K for example. It's funny how much Kikoushi was sweating (no hate), but Isai stayed relaxed all the time. Is there a reason he stayed Mario?
Isai does that at tournaments sometimes. He'll just say at the beginning, "I'm only going to play as (insert character name) for the entire tournament" and this time it happened to be Mario. It's really nice that he's actually honest enough to stick by what he says.
TheSorrow Isai is too good. If he plays Pikachu during tournaments, he will likely 5 stock everyone except maybe superboom... And that would just be boring
I figured he was doing that to respect the japanese player, because in japanese smash tournaments you have to play as the same character all the way through.
whenever isai does something semi special the commentator craps himself while kikoushi one ups and the commentator keeps his mouth shut. show some respect pls
+Joshi CM Boom has been the only contender for first in a while now. Isai is coming back for that one tourney, but its nothing like the attention Boom has gained over his absence.
i really dislike how biased the commentators where the entire match. as someone who was rooting for Isai, i was glad when he lost so it would shut the commentators up
The funny thing is that you might actually beat Isai in a friendly. Not because your better, but because he would sandbag the fuck out of the match to make you feel good.
I get that they have USA pride or whatever, but MAN this commentary is too biased. I rarely hear a comment about something Kikoushi did in the moment. Everything is from the perspective of how Isai is doing and, "Uh oh, not good for Isai!"
why doesnt kirby try to absorb powers? the fire balls could help against the edge-guard and Kirby's B can do some interesting stuff when the target is on the edge.
That was one of the most nail-biting grand finals I've ever seen. The suspense before the hit. The combo that comes after. The spacing and mind games. OMFG
I should be in this tournament iv play some of the best in australia and i cant remember the last time iv lost, even with the controller iv had since i was ten hahha
Isai plays every character, it's amazing how good he is with every one of them. Some people devote their time to one, but Isai gets bored playing one. His Pikachu is disgusting, but he chooses to use a random character than his Pikachu for fun.
How does Kikoushi not know the rules when he's been playing for an entire tournament? How about you read the rules before playing, or at least pay attention. I'm not hating, but that was a very weird exchange.
I used to play Smash competitively a few years ago and really thought Smash 64 was the most exciting game, it really is not. This is the longest and most boring Grand Finals i've ever seen.
I'm not disrespecting your opinion regarding your skill and how Isai and Kikoushi suck at this game, but you don't seem to have any evidence to support your opinion. Once you have provided evidence, then you can say you are better than them. All you have proven so far is that you are pretentious and think you are the best in the world at Smash 64. Also, you shouldn't bring up Crusader8389's skill level, as you have no idea how good he is, as well as he has no idea how good you are.
You are assuming one race is better at something than other races are, hence you are implying the Japanse are better in some aspect than other races. This is no different from Hilter proclaiming those with germanic origin are inherently better than other people. While I am not against your proclamation that, in general, one race is inherently better than another at a certain skill because genetics can prove these facts, it is still, to use the layman's propogandic term, "racist".
While it may be slow to watch, if you attempt to do any of the complicated techniques they display in this video, especially the ones with only 1-2 frame windows, it is extremely difficult. The way they chain several of these together while still being able to plan, react, and combo is nothing short of absolutely amazing. If you don't believe me, try to short hop up air z cancel with mario with any kind of success rate... and that's just one of the EASIER techniques isai displayed.
Everyone starts in the winners bracket, and if they lose once, they go to the loser's bracket. If they lose in the losers bracket, thy are eliminated from the tournament. When there are only four players left in the tournament, two of them are in winners and two are in losers. The fight between the two winner's is called winners finals, and the fight between the two losers is called losers finals. Then the winners of those two fights fight each other in the Grand finals.
i'm not talking tier lists here buddy, you are. isai's best character is pikachu plain and simple, while kikoushi's is kirby. if you go on isai's channel and watch isai's newest video it's him as pika vs kikoushi's kirby, where isai wins 3-0. just pointing out how isai is not all about winning and using his best characters (see brawl matches with MK's left and right). players like isai are about having fun, not winning. respect to him, that's all.
As regards the issue of Isai's skill relative to Kikoushi--I am a great believer in the sanctity of tournaments for determining skill level. Isai is not. My understanding of the situation is that Isai determined how he measured up against Kikoushi in a large number of very serious non-tournament matches prior to WF's, and that with pikachu and fox (possibly kirby) he was at a decided advantage. If you want to say that these GF's make Kikoushi the "champ," I agree.
Hey battlecow here Definitely down to take all advice with regards to my commentary, and it was far from perfect. Isai is, to me and to many if not most 64 players, the reason I started to play competitively, and if I sung his praises too enthusiastically I'll reign it in next time. I hope that no one got the impression that I did not have tremendous and blinding admiration and respect for Kikoushi.
The individuals aren't representing their country. They're there as themselves and that's who they are representing. The cheering isn't reinforcing "competetive spirit". It's just loud, obnoxious and pointless since it adds a "country" label when there is no reference to one. It's closer to ganging up on one person than rooting for one.
did i say anything about people priding certain characters over other? nope don't think i said that anywhere. regardless certain characters are better, sad truth to the smash games none of them are completely balanced, even in 64. i was just pointing out if isai used a higher tiered character like pikachu he would likely have won against kikoushi's kirby.
You need to lose two sets to be eliminated from the tourney. Person from losers bracket lost a set earlier in the tourney (up to winners finals) so if they lose one more they're out. Person from winners bracket won winners finals and is thus undefeated so far - so they need to lose two sets to be eliminated.
Poor guy won Apex but has to deal with the fact that he knows (as well as everyone else thanks to Nintendude spilling the beans) that Isai wasn't even trying to win it and was purposely playing an inferior matchup, just trying to make it fun and challenging for himself, and exciting for the crowd. What a fucking cool guy and superb troll.
considering how isai is able to pick any character and make it to the last match of GFs of a huge tournament like apex, i really don't think anyone is at his level. if Isai wanted to he could pick pikachu over and over and win every single time. yet he simply just picks a character and has fun with them.
I disagree. Others disagree. As the announcer said, this was a nailbiter for alot of us. And for me, it's been a while since I've been this interested in a Smash 64 match. I do however still wonder to this day why Smash 64 is played with 5 stocks. Of course, that comes from moving over to traditional fighters who's matches are alot shorter than this.
That's one of the differences between him and you. He plays the game to enjoy it, regardless of whether he gets beaten or not. And of course, you would absolutely loose. You may not realize it, but playing the game at his level takes huge amounts of both skill and practice.
Great match, commentary and video quality, but it really sucks how at every hype moment (when the decibels reach a certain level) it it mutes the sound. Completely defeats the novelty of the moment and disengages the viewer from what's going on in the match :'(
Sorry if it's late but yes that's how it works in Grand Finals. To be knocked out of the tournament you have to lose two sets. The person coming from Winner's Finals into Grand Finals has not lost a single set, and in order to be knocked out he must lose twice.
He would have won for sure. I don't think Isai plays for that anymore. He probably just goes with characters he doesn't get to use often against amazing players to get a bit better and also to have more fun. This is by far the most entertaining match in Apex in my opinion.
He doesn't use his best character (pikachu) on tournaments. He only uses low tier characters like Mario, Link etc. If you want to see what'll happen if Isai DID use pikachu, go to his channel. He won 3-0 sweep with Kikoushi. That's how good Isai is.
if he wouldn't have been the gentleman to pick dreamland - the only stage they play in japan) even when losing - isai would probably have defeated kikoushi. kikoushi did do an awesome job though, and I'm glad to se someone defeat the beast that is isai :)
Jesus Christ, what a fan boy for Isai. People with bias should never be commentators. The one was fair, the other, as Isai is losing a match (~29 mins in) keeps going on about how the other players aren't on his level. Go home, son
isai went even. it was very very close, plus Isai had only been scraping off the rust for a couple of weeks before this tournament. Not downsizing kikoushi at all, he's really good, maybe even second best, but Isai is and forever will be, the best.
how do they do their moves so quickly? i know i sound like an idiot, but i still play this game regularly (obviously not on their level). is it using shield to cancel the ai after the moves have been completed?
Fantastic matches. Commentary was good, though the obvious bias towards Isai by one of them is somewhat unprofessional. But overall, very nice to hear commentators who are actually focused on the incredible Smash being played.
Yup. These guys were talking about kikoushi maybe being better than Isai, but that's not true at all. Kikoushi only plays kirby. Isai can match or beat Kikoushi with EVERY character in the game. Isai is better for sure.
I thought you did a good job commentating. I didn't mind the bias you seemed to have, but it was pretty obvious when you tried to act not bias. Definitely rather see real passion than fake non-bias
This is KoRo. 1. This matchup is Even 2. I watched Isai play Kikoushi with Pikachu. They stayed even with Kikoushi taking him down to 1-2 stocks every time. I understand random's riding Isai but you?
Yeah. Well, I agree with him. I don't know that anyone can play as well as Isai with all 12 characters, but he was being a complete douchebag. I hate biased commentary, and I was rooting for Isai. Sigh.
So I don't understand the way that the ruleset works. Is it that the person coming from winner's bracket only needs one set to win the finals, but the person coming from loser's needs two?
I had a gif that showcased the whole hitbox, but I can't find it anymore. :( Also it has like what, 1 frame startup? lol It can parry pretty much anything in the game.
What is it about smash bros 64 thats so good? I mean the game looks fun as hell, but why do people pick this game over melee and brawl for competitive play?
nvm you win the argument buddy. happy? jeez, people on the internet are so egotistical and go to such lengths to win a meaningless argument. have a good life.
Damn I like brawl but out of all three GFs from each smash game I thought this GFs had the best ending. That was pretty cool haha ssb 64 looks hard to learn
Watch me play online ssb64 Tuesday nights at 8pm PST at www.twitch.tv/clashtournaments
ISAIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
ISAI YES!
I wish everyone was as sportsmanlike as you
You look like a zombie when you're playing, how do you stay so calm?
ISAI I LOVE YOU
I love how even when Isai loses he's laughing and smiling. A true competitor, a role model for us all.
***** No the part where when he's losing yet still is smiling.
Mario was a joke pick!
These announcers are so great. I wish the 64 scene was larger. I feel like of all Smash games it has the least amount of douchebags and a lot of friendly players, Isai being one of the most friendly.
The announcers were terrible. Only thing about the video I didn't enjoy
Nintendude seems like a nice commentator when hes not swarmed with battlecows erection for Isai. There were so many points in this entire video where it wasnt commentating, but cheering for isai. Battlecow doesn't understand commentating but he was so excited to be there it seems.

fkylw totally agreed. what a melvin.
"When Kirby is high he does really good"
The hit noise in 64 is so satisfying to my ears.
have you heard the japanese version?
+ManniBruhh what does it sound like?
ManniBruhh No I haven't :P
2:34
4:00
23:16 ....THEY BROKE THE SOUND BARRIER

Trent Blaser-Welch
it's even scarier that he actually is able to do that on such a level.
revanskywalker It will be pretty exciting to watch him play jiggs at apex 2014 :D
TheSorrow Isai is too good. If he plays Pikachu during tournaments, he will likely 5 stock everyone except maybe superboom... And that would just be boring
I figured he was doing that to respect the japanese player, because in japanese smash tournaments you have to play as the same character all the way through.
Isai is just like "Poor kid, if I used my Rat things would get ugly..."
***** lol, I swear Isai should be #1 on the Smash 64 ELO Rating.. if he WANTS to win he will win, he can beat anyone with his Pikachu
Some guy named LiLSwaggySwagg (LOL) talking shit over the internet? Yawn.
Isai was a good sport
you could see the joy of Isai when he saw his opponent win. What a guy =D
The audio cut outs at the perfect moments
at 41:35 you can see frustration in Isai when he gets hit by Kikoushi's n-air.
+Anthony O'Toole Yeah, I think he thought it was over. He seemed surprised when he looked back to the screen.
The Japanese guy was sweating it. And Isia is like eh gg cause he is playing his 5th best character lol.
whenever isai does something semi special the commentator craps himself while kikoushi one ups and the commentator keeps his mouth shut. show some respect pls
while there’s obvious bias towards isai it’s also cuz kirby is a boring streamline character to watch but mario combatting him is more exciting
The guy commentating with nintendude has a man crush on Isai, its annoying how hes putting all fucking attention to him. So unprofessional.. smh
+ManniBruhh Now commentators do the same towards Boom...
+Joshi CM Boom has been the only contender for first in a while now. Isai is coming back for that one tourney, but its nothing like the attention Boom has gained over his absence.
During the last match you can tell the japanese guy was nervous, Isai was so relaxed.....
Isai should have gone Luigi in this one xD
Regardless, amazing matches and very good commentary.
23:24... I think I went Deaf.
I hate the battles that have 1 Kirby or a MetaKnight , really shit.
i really dislike how biased the commentators where the entire match. as someone who was rooting for Isai, i was glad when he lost so it would shut the commentators up
yeah these guys are definitely not on isais level
10:35
HOW DID HE KNOW HOW DID HEKNOW?!
*Kikoushi does awesome reverse ledge DI*
"...oh...alright..*
All the excitement gone.
Most Bias indeed.
23:19 too epic.
+PachinkoSam Yep, my favorite part of the video :P
Wow get that announcer off the mic when he yells. Back, up. The mic is not food. Cool thy jets son.
The funny thing is that you might actually beat Isai in a friendly. Not because your better, but because he would sandbag the fuck out of the match to make you feel good.
Isai is a great person to have in the community. We need more guys with his kind of attitude
Battlecow was so obnoxious this set lol but other than that a classic.
Commentary was pretty bad
nintendude corrected his co-commentator real quick when he was like "these players are on Isai's level".
I get that they have USA pride or whatever, but MAN this commentary is too biased. I rarely hear a comment about something Kikoushi did in the moment. Everything is from the perspective of how Isai is doing and, "Uh oh, not good for Isai!"
why doesnt kirby try to absorb powers? the fire balls could help against the edge-guard and Kirby's B can do some interesting stuff when the target is on the edge.
lmao i love how these commentators passive-aggressively argue lol
That was one of the most nail-biting grand finals I've ever seen. The suspense before the hit. The combo that comes after. The spacing and mind games. OMFG
you know hes a good guy when you see him smiling when he loses
23:19 I think we've all had this moment at some point in our smash careers. The feels.
Isai playing one character per tournament. If he went Pikachu it would be a snoozefest.
Isai Sandbagging again
I should be in this tournament iv play some of the best in australia and i cant remember the last time iv lost, even with the controller iv had since i was ten hahha
Look at Isai's smile at the end. What a guy.
Isai plays every character, it's amazing how good he is with every one of them. Some people devote their time to one, but Isai gets bored playing one. His Pikachu is disgusting, but he chooses to use a random character than his Pikachu for fun.
I went Dreamland because the Japanese only play dreamland, so I felt like playing dreamland.
How does Kikoushi not know the rules when he's been playing for an entire tournament? How about you read the rules before playing, or at least pay attention. I'm not hating, but that was a very weird exchange.
really was, eh he figured it out, I bet he learned more english between this and apex 2014
if you are going to scream, move your face away from the microphone please :(
Gotta love the totally-not-biased towards Isai commentary!
Watched these sets 5 times and only just noticed the sick ass edge cancel at 33:59
como mierda gana el japones si isai gano 4 veces? eh visto otros videos que isai exelente con mario pero en esta ocasion comete muchos errores
I used to play Smash competitively a few years ago and really thought Smash 64 was the most exciting game, it really is not. This is the longest and most boring Grand Finals i've ever seen.
Every one always wins isia, but he's good, a combo god, edge guard god
22:57 OHHHHHH! kirby up+B
33:14 nice edgeguard + recovery
39:15 Lol @ commentary - He gets hit. And he gets hit again.
40:28 Lol @ panic-DI and angry-DI
41:43 happy celebration :)
I hate how bias the commentators are.
Nintendude is a good commentator however battle cow could not contain his bias and it was cringe when he tried to make up for biased remarks. terrible
It's kinda ironic for Kikoushi to know that by winning apex, he can, at most, consider himself as the second best player because of Isai's pikachu.
I'm not disrespecting your opinion regarding your skill and how Isai and Kikoushi suck at this game, but you don't seem to have any evidence to support your opinion. At some point, not picking Hyrule won't be done out of pride but common sense.
Those are some of the most amazing 64 matches ever.

why does the apex sound always die when people scream?
+seb nev mics because its not just the people the commentators are screaming so the sounds goes poof
i'm going to start complaining when the US soccer team is playing in foreign countries and the audience cheers for the home team
Kirby ruins smash 64 for me, he just makes the game so lame
I thought you did a good job commentating. I didn't mind the bias you seemed to have, but it was pretty obvious when you tried to act not bias. Definitely rather see real passion than fake non-bias
This is KoRo.
1. This matchup is Even
2. I watched Isai play Kikoushi with Pikachu. They stayed even with Kikoushi taking him down to 1-2 stocks every time.

Yeah. Well, I agree with him. I don't know that anyone can play as well as Isai with all 12 characters, but he was being a complete douchebag.

El grita "yes" y se ve todo emocionado.. de seguro estaba bien nervioso. Si hubiese escogido a pikachu su cara hubiera sido -_- todo el dia.
So I don't understand the way that the ruleset works. Is it that the person coming from winner's bracket only needs one set to win the finals, but the person coming from loser's needs two?
ugh. the last ten minutes are just so cringey and annoying commentating.
I had a gif that showcased the whole hitbox, but I can't find it anymore. :( Also it has like what, 1 frame startup? lol It can parry pretty much anything in the game.
I feel like i'm experiencing a part of history!
Btw, Isai is such a good sport. Good on him.
Then I will ask why. I have not seen anyone come close to Isai's Pikachu, at least in the last few years. Why?
What is it about smash bros 64 thats so good? I mean the game looks fun as hell, but why do people pick this game over melee and brawl for competitive play?
nvm you win the argument buddy. happy?
jeez, people on the internet are so egotistical and go to such lengths to win a meaningless argument.
have a good life.
Damn I like brawl but out of all three GFs from each smash game I thought this GFs had the best ending. That was pretty cool haha ssb 64 looks hard to learn
Right? Damn, I can understand having a favorite to win, but it's annoying when you're so unabashed about it.
Creo que tienes razón Alvin, pero solo podemos especular y la unica manera de dejar de hacerlo es................. Perú@Apex2014
what do these guys do for controllers? the analog sticks wear out
Why the sound have to die right at the exciting points :(
@3:25 "These up-airs, this standard Mario stuff is what WE need" corrects himself "what ISAI needs" lol most biased fucking commentator ever
Dude, no one is taking this that seriously. That's what the crowd does to generate hype. Cheering happening at a competition? OH THE HUMANITY
