Colchis (modern day Georgia) was a producer of gold in antiquity. The miners would dredge sheep fleeces through muddy riverbeds rinse out the mud and the gold specs would become visible. These legends were contrived to illustrate to the bronze age listener the world around him.
Herodutus c400BC, also stated that Colchians were BLACK NEGROIDS from EGYPTIAN colonization. This is proven correct by genome mapping of Siberian populations from c400K->10KBC... Black African cavemn settled Caucasus Mts. Only the 1200BC Sea Peoples displaced them, and in the 1800sAD they were STILL DEPICTED AS NEGROIDS(old encyclopdia; "Races of Mankind")... As dark as a "coal"chian, or the mineral "jet"(which they mined and exported), are foreign references to their racial skintone! :o "Caucasian" is an Anglo-Russian slur: 'mutt, mixed, DARK SKINNED'! :D

The story of Jason and the Argonauts is part of the wider and bigger collection of detailed and complex stories that tell a multigenerational epic of ancient Greek myths, of which the Iliad and Odyssey are only part. Many of the fathers of the Greek heros who fought at Troy had sailed on the Argo as young men; including one Greek character in the Iliad, an old man who is constantly going on about how, "if you only could have seen me in my younger days!"
My School has been teaching me and my grade (Grade 9) about the merchant of Venice. When I and my classmates were learning about the first scene of the play, Act 1 Scene 1, the story of Jason and his Argonauts was mentioned. We studied it in great detail for 2 weeks. We are currently reading Act 1 Scene 2. This will help me learn the story of him and his Argonauts again (but in even more detail). By the way Life Guide, I have been a fan of the History Subject since I was 2 years old. But the way you explain it has enhanced my love for history. Thank you.

Regarding 22:42, Circe was a sister of Aeëtes the King of Colchis. Circe and Aeëtes had another sister named Pasiphaë who married Minos the King of Crete. Minos was a son of Europa and Zeus. Pasiphaë became the mother of the Minotaur, because she consummated her lust for the Cretan Bull. Theseus from Athens killed the Minotaur with the help of Ariadne who was the daughter of Pasiphaë and Minos. In Athens, Medea married Aegeus who was Theseus' father. Medea and Aegeus had a son named Medus who was half-brother to Theseus. Theseus exiled Medea and Medus from Athens. Medea and Medus returned to Colchis where her father had been usurped as king by his brother Perses. Medea killed her uncle Perses and restored her father Aeëtes as King of Colchis. After Aeëtes died, his grandson Medus became King of Colchis.

=)) The mercantile spirit of ancient and actual greeks is carved even into their stories =)). In fact in this tale is a huge mistification, possible encouraged by gold merchants. In ancient times the only region that gold could be harvested by river-exploatation was on Aries River, Western Carpathians. In fact, is used even today. One of my friends married with a wedding ring forged by her father using gold harvested by diving a sheep skin into the river. Even the "Dragon" match the local totems. But is fun to see (most of) all people in awe with the story =))
Interesting comment! I think you're right about the mercantile tradition of the ancient Greeks, or at least the elites, as that explains their interest in long voyages, and tradition of ship-building and navigation. Also, it should be noted that the heros of these stories were not normal local people but wealthy men, typically sons of local kings. These 'Greek' kings had most likely established themselves as rulers over the local people, not as a result of being tribal chieftains, but maybe rather as outsiders due to their wealth, political connections and knowledge from their long-distance trading, and associated need to control coastal lands and groups of men for security. Of course, they weren't 'Greek' in those days, but Hellenic. This is about 2000BC, long before the Greek identity arose. The 'Greek' legends even pre-date the ancient Myceneans who later gave rise to the classical Greeks. The legends were quite probably even located somewhere else than the Mediterranean as it is known that the Myceneans came from elsewhere. One major possibility is northern Europe, around the Baltic Sea, which was much warmer in the Bronze Ages and has a lot of connections to these Greek myths, such as the common use of 'Ae' and 'Hell' in names (eg. Helsinki and Hellespont, an old name for the Gulf of Finland), and many other connections. See the amazing book, "The Baltic Origins of Homer's Epic Tales." I understood that Jason probably sailed up the river Oxus into Central Asia (now the Amu Darya river). There are also traditions of filtering river water for gold in Uzbekistan, which have been might be the location of the original Golden Fleece.
If you find gold in Carpathians you will be interested to spread the rumor that you found it in Caucasus, don't you? Btw, ancient merchant ties are linking north/baltic zone with thraco/dacian areal, not with "hellenic" space. pls, do a bit of effort and search. best wishes and health! @@gaz8891

Greeks, been merchants, were looking for trade and valuable materials all over the world. Once successful, wanted to announce to the world their success but without revealing details of the whereabouts and the greatness of the quantities of the discovered goods. Meanwhile, unbeatable monsters protected the goods, tamed only by the discovery man. Other merchants could profit from these goods once the information in public. So, what we actually have here, is a Greek expedition that was successful and brought gold from Georgia to Greece. All the rest is sauce and salad.
You for yrs I have heard about ancient stories with famous hero’s in them. I would listen to all these wild demands in these quests. It occurred to me yrs ago, that our ancient relatives must have been some drunk or high almost everyday of their lives! 😂😂
I’m surprised that those woke people in Hollywood still haven’t make any movie about Medea ( her alone, not together with Jason or the Argonaut ). Isn’t she one of the most badass women in the history ?
But what happened next!? It really shows the power of these storied when, centuries later, you still what to hear more. I want to know what Theseus does to Madea lol
Pretty interesting, this story I believe was referenced in “the war with Mexico reviewed” by Abiel Livermore 1850 , that said Americas early martial spirit or military spirit especially in result of the Mexican American war, the ambition to expand was quote “ to sow the land with dragons teeth, and eventually they will spring up armed men” which in regards to the many Greek and Roman references in that book, it is likely this is the reference he was making towards. Recommend anyone to read it, a lot of good antiquity history and references to war, Christian principles, and anti war sentiment. Quick read too, it should be on the library of congress website online.

We thank you for the information, if it was in English of course, would be even better because many more people would understand. The situation was saved by our friend Red Savage in his reply. Love these videos!
Great work !
i love these videos. i initially got into the mythologybecause of percy jackson books. these certainly highlight some of the flaws in that universe's retelling of them but man do they have such a good flavor
me too
Loved the video. Had heard of the argonauts before but never knew about their story. Thanks!
P.S. the ending music in your videos always give me the chills!
Glad you liked it 👏
Tutta la musica è manipolata di base perché l'hanno inventata gli antichi Greci
If a guy named Euphemus came charging at me, I'd bolt right away - because I cannot handle how metal his real name might be.
Please do more greek mythology !
Awesome vids!
Fantastic as Always, Thank You
They call it mythology but I believe these stories are real history. Thank you!
medea slays
Love the way he makes these videos.
You deserve a big audience.
Un pubblico con la maschera e il soprannome
Oh, nice to learn news things, in the last minute ! Didnt know these recents facts about the way to get the gold, and that there was gold in Colchise.
I can see it at a glance!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey, please get a another title because I spent 3 or 4 days looking for the channel with the Odyssey video and gave up because they were all crappy audiobook narrations. This video just came up in the algorithm and I recognized the voice so I immediately subscribed.
Excellent! I'd love a follow-up companion video discussing the art work.
please do the epic of Gilgamesh next
WHY can't I just be a powerful sorcerer chilling alone on an island?!?! WHY!?!
Fascinating as always
The lore is crazy. So interesting

Interesting, i didn't know about the back story of the fleece.
Excellent!
When did artists transition from painting gorgeous expressive scenes from these stories to the garbage we call modern art today? Bring back these style of paintings!!!

Kolkheti is today's Georgia, from where the Greeks took the Golden Fleece
Thank you for a brilliant article, so interesting after the film love Kimx
Your content is exquisite.
Interesting, well explained, kudos
Greeks, been merchants, were looking for trade and valuable materials all over the world. Once successful, wanted to announce to the world their success but without revealing details of the whereabouts and the greatness of the quantities of the discovered goods. Meanwhile, unbeatable monsters protected the goods, tamed only by the discovery man. Other merchants could profit from these goods once the information in public. So, what we actually have here, is a Greek expedition that was successful and brought gold from Georgia to Greece. All the rest is sauce and salad.
Tyler Perry’s Madea goes on a wild ass quest
You for yrs I have heard about ancient stories with famous hero’s in them. I would listen to all these wild demands in these quests. It occurred to me yrs ago, that our ancient relatives must have been some drunk or high almost everyday of their lives! 😂😂
This is some of my favourite content on TH-cam, keep up the hard work. These videos are put together so well, thank you
So basically Jason was a chump, and Medea was the real MVP.
"Murder. The solution is murder"
-OSP
The best book for the story of Jason and the Argonauts is: "Robert Graves - Hercules, my shipmate"
The music is called deep blue sea by raz for anyone else looking
I’m surprised that those woke people in Hollywood still haven’t make any movie about Medea ( her alone, not together with Jason or the Argonaut ). Isn’t she one of the most badass women in the history ?
I'm sure they will someday. It'll be very bad
I hope they never do. It's truly appalling when they impose their modern-day political ideology onto ancient and medieval stories or history.
Nice transition to your sponsor 👌
I claim by divine right to the abundance of wealth needed to live in the joy and in the peace, so that I may abide gladly serving others in plenty
Imagine dying because someone hit your elbow
At least it will be funny
But what happened next!? It really shows the power of these storied when, centuries later, you still what to hear more. I want to know what Theseus does to Madea lol
Argonauts - the Avengers before there was The Avengers
Can we stop comparing everything to trash supaheroezzz
Thank you, kind sir
The Greek stories are full of impossible quests and tasks, and then they always find a solution.
Ah, I just LOVE happy endings! And by happy, I mean endings that make me happy that so much crappy stuff didn’t happen to me 😅
