    Carl - you should rebrand your channel as compulsory viewing for anyone who either owns a GS/GSA, or is looking to buy one.
    I have literally watched hundreds of hours of videos and yours are, without any shadow of doubt, the most informative and helpful I have come across.
    Good stuff, looking forward to more of your fascinating insights!

      Hello Carl
      I am leasing in France and I wonder where I can buy and ask for installation of those brillant Lights ? Thanks

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Alain and welcome to the channel. Most BMW dealerships will install these lights for you. In the USA there are lots dealerships that do this, but in Europe the Weiser-Tech lights have only recently been released so not many dealerships know about them.
      You can install them yourself it’s fairly easy to do and I have a several videos showing you how to do it.
      You could ring Mark at Weiser-Tech and speak with him and ask about dealerships in France 🇫🇷
      Best wishes Carl

    Hi Carl, I have just watched your video about your new indicator setup,I have also been on the Weiser how to page, sorry but I’m still not sure if I need extra wiring and the relay under the seat. I have a2021 r1250gs,pretty sure it’s the same as yours. Please advise.

      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, you haven't said where you are located, as this also makes a difference. The best thing is to call the Weiser Team on the UK or USA helpline, they are extremely helpful and will direct you to Exactly the kit you need. If you're in the UK or EU and your bike is year model 21 or onwards, then I think you will need the same as me. BUT do ring the helpline number as the instruction for installation are also different. Mark is the CEO and i think he is taking the UK calls this week.... nice chap. Best Regards Carl

    Hello Carl. I’ve now fitted the new indicators and I can’t believe how impressive they are. Any queries I had during the installation were quickly resolved with a personal call from their Co Founder Mark Atkins but to be honest, the installation guide they provided with the kits should have been more than sufficient, I just happened to be the weakest link here but Mark was very patient and went out of his way to ensure that everything worked as it should. I can’t recommend them enough & I’m grateful to you for introducing the company & their products to me! 👌👏👍

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tony, thank you for sharing your experiences with installing the kit and with the team at Weiser Technik, I know other owners are keen to find out how easy and straightforward these kits are to install, so a big thank you for sharing your own experiences.
      Yes Mark and his team do a great job supporting their customers.
      Best wishes Carl. 👍

    Alright. On my 2022 GSA I added an Admore light bar and a Denali Brake Light. The Denali light is hooked into a Cansmart and the Admore light is in the factory harness. Very bright. About $400.00 total.

    Hi Carl thanks for all the good info. I have a 2022 GSA 40th addition. I'm not happy with standard back indicators and the break light my other problem is I live in the south of Ireland in county Waterford I was wondering do Wiser Technik have any stockists over here . Again thanks for the great detailed info . 👍

If you have any questions just ring and speak with Mark at Weiser he is very helpful. We have been working together to improve the schematics and instructions and new ones are now available.

    Hi Carl, once again many thanks for your videos, super informative. Just to check, the central BMW light at the rear does not illuminate with the Weiser lights installed except when braking?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cornamuck yes that is correct for the 2021 onwards European bikes. The North American bikes still have both side and brake function in the tail light.
      For everyone else BMW decided too remove it (side light) and move it into the indicators.
      Hope that helps

    Hello Carl... terrific video. I very much light the auxiliary lights you have mounted and their location; can you tell me the make and model and the mounting solution you have? In addition, the new turn signals actually appear brighter than those auxiliary lights... possible? Many thanks.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Shawn, the aux lights are oem bmw, the standard ones in their catalogue. If you buy from BMW they are expensive but on online they are cheaper.
      Yes the Weiser Technik indicator kit is much brighter than BMW (front and rear) see separate video and installation guide, and as you have noticed super bright while running as DLR'S. As far as being seen they are much better than the bmw Aux lights. But the aux lights work well at night ( see separate video)
      Hope that helps...

    Hello Carl I ordered a front set of these after watching your video. Unfortunately you have to be an electrical engineer to fit them, I thought it would be a simple plug and play install. I’m frightened to be chopping into the wiring on brand new bike and the video on the website is from an old GS with different indicators. Very disappointed

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello John and welcome to the channel. If you follow my guide they are very easy to install at home, alternatively just ask your local BMW dealer to install them for you. If your in the Uk or USA just send Weiser-Tech a message or better… just call them and ask if they can give you a name of a local dealer. Best wishes Carl

    What length stalks did you choose for the rear of your bike? For the fronts, did you not choose the short for fear of the lights being to close together and not being distinuishable from distance or being "washed out" by the headlight?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I used short stalks on the rear so that I can still mount and use the OEM rear panniers.
      On the front I used medium stalks as this was my preferred option, in North American you need to use long stalks due to some states that require a minimum distance between the headlight and indicator.
      If your in the UK you are free to use all 3 lengths on the front.
      Hope that helps 👍

    Do you think it would be a good idea to add a small length of wicking material into the indicator drain holes... to allow drainage via the wick but prevent water and dust ingress?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Simon, good morning, that’s an interesting thought and one I haven’t tried. The Weiser indicators have been on my GS for over a year now with lots of wet weather touring, so after reading your message yesterday I decided to take one of the covers off and check inside. Everything still looks new and no signs of corrosion are present.
      You could try your idea and check inside in 6 months to make sure the cavity is breathing.
      Regards Carl

    Recently had a few sets of Denali lights (D7s and D2s up front and two B2s rear) installed on my '22 1250 GSA. That install also included a CanSmart controller. I believe I may have one open circuit left on the CanSmart (alternatively I could alway daisy-chain another CanSmart for more circuits), so my question is: is there a way to integrate the Technik signals into the CanSmart system, or is there any need to or possible advantage in doing so? I realize I may be making an otherwise easy installation more complicated than necessary, but that's "Just the way I am"!

Just go to the website get your code and then put your bike year and model into the Light Finder...that will give you the kit number you need.

    HI, Carl (@Just The Way It Is)
    Your channel is a very good one and I'm subscribed to it. Thanks a lot.
    When I saw these multi-function indication lights (specially the rear lights; simple indicator for the front and triple indicator for the rear), I thought they could be good for my R1200GS Adv 2018 lighting system.
    Five days ago, I sent a contact request to the company's website (Weiser Technik - WL), as you explained in your video, for the discount code and also for some simple questions regarding the light's homologation for Continental Europe motorcycle driving and the installation in my specific bike.
    These were the questions:
    - I would like to know if, when buying the triple function rear lights, the rear indicator lights would still work if plug only to the OEM indicator wires (not the brake nor the active running wires).
    (=> Just in case I have to deactivate them after having them mounted)
    - I would also like to know if the lights are marked with the homologation icons and numbers (Ex, 50R, ...) which are mandatory for running in the continental European roads. Are they homologated for the continental European countries?
    (=> I have seen in one picture of the tinted vs transparent light covers that the markup is there)
    - I've looked at the installation guides and the videos, but I'm not sure in my bike for the specific wire I have to pearce in order to get the brake function. If you could tell me, I would thank you for it.
    (=> I have already seen where to get it and also some bmw connectors -2 or 3 wires- to avoid pearcing any OEM wire; I guess these could be sent in the WL installation kit)
    However, no answer yet. Neither by contact form (5 days ago) nor direct email (2days ago). I guess I will have to wait a little bit more for their answer, and therefore, they (WL) will have to wait for me to buy it.
    Best regards.

      Hi Cube, well when bmw applied for certification for the rear multifunction in North America the DOT same as our Tüv approval said NO. So in they dont have them because they felt they were not safe. I have no idea how they gained approved in the EU. And looking at the amount of users that have already had road users pull out in front of them... its becoming more of a problem. Some of the major motorbike review sources in the UK will be running separate stories covering this soon I believe. Best wishes Carl

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jay, the rear stalks are a fixed standard length because its important to maintain the ability to add or use BMW rear luggage. So the Weiser rear stalks still allow you to mount all the normal rear luggage systems.
      But,.... if you really want to change the size, then of course you can add longer stalks to move the indicators outwards increasing rear visibility. But just remember you can no longer then fit the vario luggage boxes.

    Hello Carl,
    first of all, thank you very much for your very informative technical videos, keep going..., I always follow your videos with great interest.
    I have already followed this video on the subject of indicators and their additional functions on the GS, as well as the installation video GREAT!, and I'm about to decide to use Weisertechnik on my GS from 2021.
    Before that, however, I would like you or, if applicable, Weisertechnik to answer the following question.
    I am aware that Weisertechnik gives a 4-year warranty on the product.
    Can you perhaps say something on the subject of warranty - perhaps in a conversation with your dealer? How does BMW possibly react to changes in the electrical system?
    When making changes to the vehicle, it is often the opinion that this effect can be attributed to any other damage to the electrical system and that BMW absolves itself of responsibility and the customer gets nothing.
    Or have you never had such experiences with BMW or other manufacturers?
    Or should I better go to my dealer/BMW and ask him for an opinion?
    Thank you in advance, regards Jürgen

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jürgen glad you enjoyed the installation guide and you have fitted them to your GS. With regards to BMW warranty all I can share is I talked about this with Weiser Technik the feedback I got was that the dealers in the USA have been installing these for several years without any issues or voiding warranty because it's not a change... it's an accessory just like fitting extra lights. But I think it's good you ask. Perhaps send Mark at Weiser this question for your own clarification and also confirm with your dealer. The only thing is your dealer may not yet have done the installation and may be unwilling to confirm until they themselves have performed the installation. Let me know how you get on.
      Best wishes Carl

    Hello Carl,
    I have an identical motorcycle being BMW GS 1250 2022 as yours.
    With more than ordinary interest I have watched all your videos about the operation of this motorcycle and I find them very good, detailed and above all commented with knowledge. Thick thumb!!
    I have already put on my motorcycle a few accessories that you recommended and have found to be fine.
    I would also like to buy the Weiser indicators because as you indicated they are much more visible and therefore much safer than the original BMW multifunction indicators. Problem I'm not educated enough myself, I think, to post this myself. I therefore asked my local dealer (BMW Motorrad Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium) to take a look at this (installation instructions from Weiser communicated) and also whether they would like to place these indicators.
    Received their response below today:
    """ Dear Peter,
    After reviewing this with the workshop, we have come to the conclusion that we do not want to take the risk of mounting these non-original parts.
    As already mentioned by telephone, we have negative experiences with mounting aftermarket lighting because of the different resistances.
    We apologize for the inconvenience.
    With sporty greetings, """
    Apparently they are not aware of Weiser's products. There is also no dealer to be found in Belgium yet.
    However, I rely on your opinion that Weiser has reliable products that are perfectly compatible with our motorcycle and that nothing stands in the way of the normal functioning of the motorcycle.
    My question to you is: when would you put your installation video on TH-cam so that I could follow it step by step and try to assemble it myself.
    Or do you have another idea to convince a BMW dealer in my small country?
    Do the Weiser indicators have really different resistances as my dealer thinks?
    Thanks in advance, sorry for this long explanation, and hope to find a new video about this on youTube soon.
    With warm regards,
    Peter Devooght

      Hi Peter and welcome to the channel, thank you for your feedback 👍. The How Too episode I will start filming this weekend but I have to find a way to show in a 30 minute video, for what actually takes about 1.5 hours. So the editing is going to take careful thought, so this will mean it will be a couple of weeks before it is up.
      The comments from your BMW are normal and understandable as they have yet to install a set and experience the quality of the Weiser products. I believe the North American dealers also initially had concerns but that quickly changed once they installed a set and found they are simple to install and do not affect the bike or systems in any way. You could ask your dealer to talk directly with Mark at Weiser Technik as Mark has been through this with many many USA dealers. I hope my video will add to this and show how straight forward they are to install for owners at home. best wishes Carl

    Great video again Carl!
    Regarding the Weiser rear indicators:
    As a break light do they produce a red or amber light?
    And as side lights / day lights (I think BMW calls it tail light function), red or amber?
    As indicators they must surely be amber.
    Unfortunately, but understandably in the video it's difficult to see any difference in colour when changing functions.

Which brings me to the point I feel I have to make!. After spending just over £18k stg for a 2021 Triple black why should I have to pay close to £500 stg to fix a safety issue BMW has created ?.

      Hi RMG, it's a good point you raise, but I think perhaps the fault lies with the approval of these lights. BMW are not the only manufacturers doing this (Honda also) and taking advantage of this. Yes the standard setup is not good and I currently do not know if BMW will continue in the same manner with the new 1300GS (I hope not) they are getting a lot of feedback from owners and I know that official dealers have commented internally about this. The Weiser kits for me not only correct the problem but also offer some additional benefits. The front White Lights are SO MUCH brighter it's almost like having additional driving lights. I understand it's a big chunk of additional expense we really should not have to spend, but for me at least the benefits are worth it. All the best Carl

      Hi Max, yes a couple of others have commented on the size, but having spent 3 whole days with the CEO and one of the installation team I now understand that they need to be larger to house the Osram LED's and that spacing on the PCB was important to be able to vastly improve the spread of light outwards at a greater angle... which improves visibility. At first I thought like you... perhaps they look a little big... but now they are installed I don't notice that.... but I do notice how much brighter they are and of course no Orange light is on the front of the bike. Hope that helps. Carl

But since these may be sent from the UK, additional 19% VAT and 10% duties are probably charged when hipping them to Germany (less the discount that we can get when getting the code that you already communicated).

    With the connection instructions, only the red cable should have been connected to the rear light connector blue/brown 12V cable.

    Dear Carl, following your wise advice I ordered a Weiser lighting kit. Debbie and Mark Atkins were invaluable in helping me choose the right product for my R 1250 GS model. I also watched the videos uploaded on TH-cam by Weiser to help with the installation on the machine. Unfortunately these videos are relatively old and do not fit in the assembly instructions for recent models like mine. Since you were able to install this "upgrading" kit on your motorcycle, I would greatly appreciate it if you uploaded a video describing the installation procedures (removal or not of certain parts of the motorcycle, where to make the connections on the existing wiring, etc. ) What do you think of such a video to feed your channel "Just the way it is"? @@justthewayitis Hello Carl, first let me say that I love your videos and I spent the past days watching them all. (thanks to home office :-)). I also must say that I share your thoughts about the visibility of the turn lights and the Weiser lights would be an ideal solution for me. I would be more than happy to spend 500 € for this lights if they were legal.
      But here comes the big "but". Mark from Weiser send me a picture of the glass to show that they have an E sign. This glass also carries the number of the ECE certificate. But this certificate certifies the orginal lights with ordinary light bulbs. So if you change this bulbs to LED with a difference in function and brightness then of course this certificate is completely invalid and you have to remove the E sign and the number from the glass before selling it. It is like filling a whine bottle with water and selling it as whine because the label says it is whine. I can also not take the license plate from your motorbike and attach it to mine and say now my bike is legally registered because it has a license plate. In the papers the VIN does not match. This is the same for the lights. The R50-... number certifies normal bulb lights and not LEDs. So saying that this lights are legal beacuse there is an E on the glass is a clear fake. Many normal usres might not realize this because they see the E and mount the lights to their bike. But in real life you always have to have the ECE certificate paper that shows the number, the kind of light, the manufacturer and the issuing authority. As long as Weiser is selling this lights with someone elses number this lights are a no go for everybody in Europe and in an accident you can be in real trouble because by mounting them you could loose insurance coverage of your bike.
      So if Weiser really will be able to provide the proper certificate and havethe correct number of their own on the glass, I will be the first one to order this set of lights, but until then I need to look for another solution that is leagal.
      You do not need to send my comments to Weiser as I sent already an email to them asking if they can show me the certificate paper. As you can imagine, no more answer ....
      Regards,
      Michael

      Hello Michael
      Good morning
      I’ve raised this possible concern ( as you have) with Weiser-Tech and chatted at length with them about this. I think it’s fair to wait for their official response.
      I understand your concern about the ECE mark that is currently on the lenses.
      Weiser-Tech are currently having the complete product tested by an approved testing house for a new certificate of compliance.
      The compliance testing is being conducted with the current lenses so we should wait for the results and for Weiser-Tech to make their announcement.
      I could be wrong… but no KBA or ABE certificate is required for accessory lights here in Germany.
      For example thousands of GS owners fit Denali lights but there is no requirement for these.
      I do share your concerns but I am not an expert in this area.
      We both know that Germany has some of the strictest requirements for fitting accessories and yes we must ensure that are insurance cover is in no way affected.
      Let’s wait for Weiser Tech to respond with an official reply.
      Best wishes Carl

  • @sunnycloudy1337
    @sunnycloudy1337 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video Carl, here's my thoughts:
    1. While I understand the need for Posi-Taps because of the front indicators having only 2 wires instead of 3... probably trying to make the lights compatible with multiple models is a fault. Let me explain: On my 2022 BMW R 1250 GS Adventure with the multifunction lights package I and II plus the Weiser advanced electronics on the indicator PCB they probably could have gotten away with only using the 2 wire BMW OEM connector and exploiting the PWM wizardry in order to have it be just a plug-and-play easy job instead of having the need for an aditional wire that you have to get under the gas tank (the posi tap one connecting front to rear to relay).
    2. Having a fuse and relay connected to the battery, plus the positap for ACC+ (they suggested the number plate wire) is really a hacky way of doing things and most likey this would not fly in my country (which is in Europe) regarding the bike's warranty. While some argue positaps are non-invasive, that's not actually totally true, because they leaves a hole in the isolation of the cable not to mention that sometimes the connection is not even that great to begin with. Stabbing a wire with a sharp metal rod could sometimes result in poor contact depending of the stab location and especially for a motorcycle with vibrations. The saving grace is that they mentioned in the documentation that you can use a PDM instead... so if I were to get these indicators, I would 100% have them connect to a free circuit on the Hex ezCan or the Denali CanSmart instead.
    3. The price, oh man the price. Over 400 euros for the front & rear kit seems really excessive. Not to mention that there's 20 euro shipping slapped on top of it. You would think they'd offer free shipping at least at that price, but nope. How come Nippy Normans can ship to Europe for free on orders over 99? 450 euros (albeit without the discount) is way too much for two pairs of indicators, a relay, some wire and a few posi taps.
    4. The design. I've said it before in your previous video and I'll say it again. They are UGLY. Personally I don't like the shape and bulk of the indicators. The OEM BMW ones are a lot better design-wise. I mean for god's sake, they are bigger than the aux / fog lights. Imagine paying over 25k euro for the bike and then slapping ugly blinkers on it, ugh.
    Conclusion: they should really have been just a plug and play solution for the stock indicators, at a fairer price, less bulky, more streamlined & attractive. Not a purchase from me right now; maybe they will make a better v2 version in the future though.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi SunnyCloudy, I only have my phone with me right now so I have to reply to each part separately. As opposed to answering in one go on my PC, my apology.
      1, there are several different products depending on the year and model... so check your year model first, as each version does have a slight difference. The fronts have a separate addition wire because its actually an additional +12V feed to enable an additional 300mV (approx) to be used on the front to provide additional power to run the Osram LED's at a higher output. Weiser did this to make sure that we have super bright DLR's on the front. So the additional wire has nothing do with the canbus or signals it's just there for increased power, that the oem system cant provide. It also removes the need to buy a separate and addition cost of buying and installation of something like the Hex ezCAN which for me and owners is a big plus. The fronts are still controlled by the bmw system so you still have the original extra features like soft start and such.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Positap does NOT draw any reall current it's just there to provide a trigger feed and although owners might be concerned it's a well tested solution that means you do not have to cut wires.
      BMW dealers in North America have been stalling these kits on hundreds of BMW bikes over the last couple of seasons. Just look at the list of NA dealers in my video description.... which by the way is only a small part of the original list because TH-cam limit the amount of space I can use in a video description. So honesty I doubt that they would agree to do this install if they were not happy. UK BMW dealers are now also installing these kits.
      When I make my own how to video I will do something very slightly different but even to me as a trained engineer I'm happy with the solution that Weiser offer because it means the their system can be installed without cutting into any original systems, and it makes the product installable at home if owners want to do it.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes as you mention you can install the kits and utilize a currently installed Hex ezCAN system which will provide a different install process. Which some owners will enjoy.
      Yes, you could argue that any small hole made through a cable outer casing is not ideal, but honestly the hole is tiny and I tested the positaps on a couple of spare cables to check if I was happy...and I am. I think the solution the team has found... taking into account the cost and making the install as simple and accessible to all owners is completely acceptable.
      If I think about the awful wiring solutions that car manufacturers have used over the years I feel this solution is actually quite good and upto the job.
      Vibration is an issues with any system, whether its car, motorbike, heavy goods, trains, planes so to highlight that as a possible problem is a little harsh....Fatigue testing on oem cables has greatly improved over the years as has the material composition of not only the outer but the inner core.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Price, yes I understand that some may feel it's a little high, but its actually less than buying the system as an accessory option on a brand new bike. Plus you can move the system onto potentially your next bike. I have owned used secondhand bikes for almost all of my motorcycle career, so I greatly value the option of being able to easily move the system onto my next bike. Owners of older BMW bikes are going to enjoy this option too.
      Yes, looks, I agree they could look a little better, but as I mentioned in an earlier post to a comment the Weiser team needed to have a bigger PCB to mount the Osram LED'S so that the light output (angle of output) could be improved. The oem ones are quite poor, the Osram ones are if I remember this correctly 120 deg, which is then further enhanced by the outer lense taking the light spread out to approximately 180deg.
      I cant say this enough, once you see the lights on your bike.... the output is quite incredible.

    Interesting, but....
    I have a 2019 GSA and the centre rear lamp is side and brake. To enhance the brake lights I have a separate brake light powered by a hex ezcan. So far so good, but I would like a brake light function in my indicators (but no side lights). This does not appear to be configurable in the Weiser product? Or could I modify the 3 wire system to have a discrete brake light feed?
    Also with the GSA as supplied with oem pannier racks, the mounting base of the rear oem indicators is extended rearwards by approx. 5cm. This does not appear to be available (but maybe is not a big deal).
    I would be interested to see how you get on with your TüV inspection.....I have had major dramas in the past having LED bulbs behind a CE marked lens.

    Great video Carl. I also have the 1250 GS (2022) with the smart indicator option, so I emailed Weiser to enquire about wiring these lights into my Denali Cansmart. They got back to me today to confirm that I can attach a pigtail lead from the Cansmart to provide the 12v, ignition switched line, so shouldn’t need to fit their relay harness to the battery and tap into any existing wiring, which will make the installation a lot cleaner.
    I had considered buying the Denali T3 number plate mounted multi function indicator leds, but must admit the Weiser’s look a more aesthetically pleasing option. If it weren’t for this video, I wouldn’t have known about this alternative. I look forward to your planned installation video!

      I have also just contacted Weiser to as about connecting the lights to a CanSmart/EXCan. Same bike, same question! Mark Atkins responded positively, but I have asked if he will be producing a diagram to show how the connections would work, and whether the canbus software would then allow any extra control over the parameters of the lights. I have already installed Denali D4s and B6s connected to a CanSmart, and have also connected my Innovv K2 to the CanSmart by following instructions on A Bike Thing. But without clear instructions, I'm not clever enough to work this out for myself! 🤣😂🤣😂🥴

      @@petersydney5895 Will be interested in his response. I thought in this instance that the cansmart would just provide the switched 12v line and the behaviour of the indicators would be controlled via their multi pin connections to the bike’s existing wiring. If it were possible to use the cansmart to control additional functionality, ie operating like the denali t3’s then fantastic, but would be surprised.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Paul, it's an interesting thing you ask. Because once they were installed, I actually thought hey !!! These have an added benefit of almost being as good as a set of aux front lights. Sure, they are never going to work like spotlights, but in terms of visibility of the bike... they certainly make an impression. I thought about talking about this extra benefit in the video, but decided I was already very positive about the lights so did not want to "overdo it" so to speak. So, I kept quiet... but now you and others can see for yourselves the extra benefit. Best wishes Carl

    • @paulv22
      @paulv22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justthewayitis Thanks Carl. I actually already have the Cyclops version of these on my bike. US bikes have incandescent bulbs so those were an improvement, but I wish they were brighter so I'm going to try these. The RS has the signals further away from the headlights, so hopefully they'll be more effective for the lighting triangle. I've thought about putting aux lights on the bike, but somehow they don't quite look right on an RS.
      Luckily I've already done all the wiring. I'm running the DRL and brake light function through a Hex EZCan which means I can make the brake lights blink a few times on application and the front DRLs will pulse if I hit the horn.
      I'll try to remember to follow up once installed.

      @paulv22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justthewayitis I received a set of Weiser's signals and did a test install on one side. In summary, I think they're a better product overall than the Cyclops, but they aren't going to work for me for two reasons. One is that the rears would require me to run an extra wire over what I already have. The Cyclops only required one extra wire, going to the ezCan, to handle the brake and rear running light functions. The Weiser product requires two which would mean I have to tear in the bike again to install that.
      On the front, they were a direct replacement with no additional wire required. Also, in both cases they're brighter than the Cyclops, but not by enough to do what I need. For the front, I really want the lighting triangle effect and I'm going to have to add actual aux lights for that.
      So, in summary, if I were starting from scratch, I'd go with the Weisers.
