9-10 years, my first granddaughter Sadie, was 4 yo. We went food shopping at HEB or Walmart I don't remember which. She was in the trolly basket and what she said changed me forever, softly and sadly she said, ''Pawpaw, SOMEDAY when we have some extra money can I get one of those?
She was pointing at a baby doll that was 5 or 6 bucks. I asked her, do you that allot? She shook her beautiful little head, this broke my heart.
I said to her ''Baby Bear, do you know what today is?
    I said ;'''TODAY IS SOMEDAY''
We pulled every doll down and she took over an hour to choose the perfect one,
We checked out with around $100.00 of doll stuff. That night while putting to bed, I gave her a present, A ten year Calendar with ''SOMEDAY'' shows up around 200 times.
Talking with her last night before bed, she said ''Pawpaw, I still have my SOMEDAY Calendar. Love you more''. 💓 🐻😪

I missed you, Stacy and Phil, and I'm so happy to see you after your time away. Thank God for a hometown to return to and that casita. Shoulder surgery and rehab are another level of pain, but then again, you're familiar by now. Phil, I wish you a complete recovery in the time that it takes for you. Stacy, I wish you're fully rejuvenated and re-energized after every bit of rest, so you can manage for you both. I send you both strength and positive vibes, and God's willing, you'll be back criss-crossing this beautiful country of ours.👍🏾🙏🏾

Man, I think that pricing was super fair for a Sunday. I was surprised!!! Also, next time a belt is squeaking, even only if it’s cold, go ahead and get it assessed and replaced. My Cummins did the same thing at 150k miles (tensioner pulley and belt).

Phil, that is not a bad repair bill at all. I had my AC compressor changed (it was leaking) at our local RV repair shop and it cost me over $1400! The compressor cost was about the same as yours but labor was off the hook!
Glad to see your recuperating and will be back to normal soon.

All the prime rubber companies say to replace all rubber parts every five years. I also had a rare car, so I made a habit of keeping a new spare belt for everything.
If you are keeping spares, dust them in talc and store them air tight. The talc prevents oxidation and cracking of the rubber.

Hey guys I've been pretty scarce lately but with good reason that I will share with you over on the web site. One thing you might want to check on is if there is away to short belt your engine so if the compressor seizes up again you can just go around it and be on your way. It will take a different belt but it gets you back on the road. Some engines can, some can't, but it's a neat trick if you can do it too your engine. Oops, I see someone already mentioned this below. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

I had right side rotator cuff with bicep repair Oct 4, went through 21 weeks of PT with poor range of motion still, so they went back in and removed scar tissue which fixed it. 7 more weeks of PT on the rt side and had the same things done on the left side on April 16. They took out extra tissue so this one is doing great in comparison. I can't wait till PT is over early July. It's no fun. Hang in there! That is the thing about RV'ing. Sometimes plans take a severe left turn! We were 2 hours from home when a part (which looked like something off of a semi mud flap) hit us in the rear driver side, wrapping around and taking out the brake lines. Luckily we were able to limp into a Walmart parking lot, and were a 1/2 hour from Tuscon and an hour (~11:30pm) before the airport car rental services closed for the night. No tow available till the next day. Those last two hours took 14 hours to complete! (and a couple of weeks before the RV made it home) Be careful out there!!!!

Looks like you have a decent engine access. Even more access than some bilges I've attended to. Engine access was main fear and reason I do 5th wheel. If the truck is the issue they can tow it to the shop. Also, medical issues are our main reason for not selling sticks and bricks. With our 5 month camp host last year we realized we had too many clothes.

Spent 3 weeks purging Mary (our 5th wheel)to get ready. I thought I had purged enough after our 6 month workcamper job in Maine 2 yrs ago - wrong - I found things we had been carrying around for 4 years stuck deep in corners and crevices 😂 (I didn’t purge before leaving for Maine).

Hi Stacy and Phil, Sorry brother but I have to give the wife top billing. Interesting debacle you went through. I had noticed a chirping coming from the serpentine belt area of our 2014 Allegro RED 33aa. I purchased a tensioner thinking it was that but once I got the belt loosened I found it was quiet. Turned out the water pump was making the noise. Ordering that and installed them in my driveway. Much better way than this failing on the road on out trip to Western NYS soon. Now I also have a spare belt which gives me a good feeling knowing I have that. Also for anyone reading this, a tensioner will start to fail at around 50k miles. Wishing you a quick and complete recovery Phil.

We do not RV full time. We empty everything out of it before it goes into storage. Less and less seem to be returning to the RV each year.

Phil did really good! He has come a long way for sure. I think it might have helped that I started coming up with plan B, C and D....just in case!

Phil the main cause for a shredded belt is either a stuck alternator pully or air conditioning compressor pump pully or the water pump pully or power steering pully or stuck tensioner pully so you might be throwing money at belts when you have a bigger problem you and Stacey got lucky it happened in a rv park and not on a busy highway while driving

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Agreed! I thought it was the tensioner pulley. We were super lucky!!!

Just locating those screws that hold the access panel to the engine top in the bedroom is a chore the start with. Even using a magnet.

Instead of the large coffee table why not get a TV tray or small plastic end type table good for indoor outdoor use.

Always carry spare belts and fuel filters. I'm even thinking about buying a spare tire and carrier. Hopefully most of my mechanical issues I can fix.

Phil.. I enjoy you videos.. I like your idea about keeping a spare belt. We have done that for a few years and hope I never need it.. couldn't find one locally so I had to order one and it took about a week to get it .. that will mess up you trip if you have reservations down the road .... Also you may want to keep a spare step motor on hand .. easy fix but hard to find one on a Sunday .. Thanks for your videos and your Service ! Rick Chilton in North Carolina

We just had our first major mechanical issues while rv’ing. It wasn’t our RV but our toad. Our F150 showed it was in tow mode like usual but must not of disengaged the trans so after our 641 mile day we smoked our trans. Luckily we were home so we had CoachNet pick it up and took it to 5th Gear and 10.5K later we got a new trans with 3yr 100k warranty. That made the trip a little more expensive.

Congrats on your successful surgery (and of course your RV repairs). I had some extensive shoulder surgery (they cut on me and ground away bone for 5 hours) done 23 years ago (old Army injury). It was a piece of cake. I was in constant pain before the surgery, as the cortisone shots didn't work anymore. After the surgery - no pain at all. They put a pain pump in, but I didn't have to use it once. I shouldn't have waited as long as I did to have it done. Funny thing, when you said your PT was just a couple miles away, my mind went to Physical Training and thought to myself, man he better wait a while before doing push-ups. 😵‍💫 Anyway, my physical therapy went quickly, despite all the work they did. Wishing you a speedy recovery too. 🤕

I just called Red Bay diesel and they gave me the part number for the a/c bypass belt. They ship the chassis with this belt on it. This fix would get you to a shop and you can do it. This should save you some money next time.
