Ha ha! I'm going to open with something controversial. But it's only because I have a point of view to share, hang with me until I get there. So yes, Juan Gabriel's lyrics ARE a bit simple. In comparison to other singer-songwriters. I could name a few. Instead, I will share why I think this. Juan's lyrics are without intricate narrative, themes, metaphors, rhyme, or schemes. BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHY HE IS BRILLIANT. Because some artists let their heads, thoughts, ideas and concern with individual self-expression get in the way of their craft. NOT JUAN. The man was in touch with his emotions, with his spirit, and his soul. That can't be taught. His lyrics while simple. Were tender, warm, sincere, directly from the heart, honest, raw. That's why they remain effective. Because they speak to our humanity and that's why everyone connects to the message and why he is so beloved.

Actually the second video is from 2 years before the concert in Bellas Artes(1990) . That particular tv program lasted almost 7 hours it was called "La noche que Mexico no durmio" (the night that Mexico didn't sleep)and it was broadcasted all over Mexico , the USA and it was a huge event because he has not been on tv for years and he did this special as a favor for her friend Veronica Castro (the lady who was sitting next to him) She was a big soap opera star and tv host. OMGoodness, thank you for reminding us of that night - la noche que Mexico no durmio! I had forgotten about it. I watched parts of it with my mom. She watched the whole thing, and I would periodically go into her room and ask, "Todavia sigue?" not believing that it was still going on. Wow... what memories! Breaks my heart that my mom's not here anymore. I would've loved to be able to show her reaction videos like these. Yes!!! I stayed up with my mother as a kid in Anaheim, California watching this amazing performance. Ok I fell asleep but she stayed up and had to go to work the next morning right after the program ended. That last part was from a very popular program at the time in Mexico. The name of the program was Mala Noche...no the year was 1988, the program started at 11 pm, and he sang all through the night. At 6 am he was still in the studio. I was 20 years old and I watched the program from beginning to end. It was amazing and by that time he was already the best in Mexico. Hello! I used to live in juarez, chihuahua mexico. My mom used to work at ElectriQ a discoteque that marked part of Juarez night life. Juan Gabriel presented there several times or had quinceañeras or parties held there. My mom has pictures with him and became a person he used to asked for when he was there. They had a beautiful work related friendship, brings me tears to remember the old good days. It's such joy to see you react to him

In spite of all the sadness that Juan Gabriel went through, growing up without his mother, because when he was born, his mother was very poor to take care of him, so she gave him to a wealthy family that could take care of him but later on in life, he found his mother but also she was looking for him and that’s when they reunited but I don’t know how long after that she passed away and he wrote the song😢😢

Magallanes, both artistic director and close friend, was a key figure in supporting Juan Gabriel's career. He was the only one who truly knew how to infuse El Divo's music with its distinctive identity and grandeur.

Juan Gabriel was so great, so talented, a showman on a completly different level that even though the philarmonic could be (and is) an entire thing on it's own; was in second place when it came to him at that performance. He was an artist that we might never see again.
Listening to him live was awesome, such a special person, so talented!

That last part was from a very popular program at the time in Mexico. The name of the program was Mala Noche...no the year was 1988, the program started at 11 pm, and he sang all through the night. At 6 am he was still in the studio. I was 20 years old and I watched the program from beginning to end. It was amazing and by that time he was already the best in Mexico. He started his career when he was a teen.

I used to live in juarez, chihuahua mexico. My mom used to work at ElectriQ a discoteque that marked part of Juarez night life. Juan Gabriel presented there several times or had quinceañeras or parties held there. My mom has pictures with him and became a person he used to asked for when he was there. They had a beautiful work related friendship, brings me tears to remember the old good days.

The lady he is singing to is a famous actress in Mexico and I think she didn’t want to take the attention away from him so she was low key and yes she loved it 🥰
In spite of all the sadness that Juan Gabriel went through, growing up without his mother, because when he was born, his mother was very poor to take care of him, so she gave him to a wealthy family that could take care of him but later on in life, he found his mother but also she was looking for him and that’s when they reunited but I don’t know how long after that she passed away and he wrote the song😢😢
FYI Juan Gabriel was a unique artist he wrote his own lyrics n music n Orchestrated everything b 4 each concert he would make sure he was the lead n never let the music drown his beautiful voice he was blessed n the best ❤🎉

I think that when you said lord is testing me. Is just that his tenure way of talking and expressing makes anyone to feel a greater sentiment, deeper feeling than just saying I like him. In 3-4 concerts I enjoyed him as a very different human being.
