    Just incase anyone is actually interested I'm bored so here goes... Pretty sure this vac line is for the intake manifold, when you let off the throttle, the throttle body (which opens when you apply gas and let's air into the intake manifold) will close creating an air vacuum in the intake manifold. This air obviously needs somewhere to go since you've released the gas and the throttle body is closed, what happens is the vacuum pressure from this built up air will then force your blow off valve open to release all the air/boost (creating the wooshing noise you hear when you let off the throttle). By putting a kink in this vac line you're basically not allowing the blow off valve to properly release the boost/air to the atmosphere so instead of getting one big whoosh sound you get this flutter sound. Over a long time this probably wouldn't be good for your blow off valve which is now working twice as hard. But hey if it makes you smile carry on 😂.

      @BRNZYX  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if this is true then once your blow off valve breaks you can just upgrade to a forge one 😉

      Kyle Taundry got a forge induction kit and BOV on my 1.2tsi fabia, at the moment I get a dump when the air is released, if I clamp the vacuum line from the BOV to the intake manifold will it flutter instead? And will it harm the forge BOV as it’s upgraded anyway?

  • @autoSRI
    @autoSRI 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I’ve done this before on other cars by removing the blow off valve completely or in the case of recirc valves a one way valve works better
    If you just kink the line the boost will push open the recirc valve and leak boost so creating lag and spinning the turbo faster to compensate
    If you put the one way valve into that line facing the recirc valve every time you make boost it presses the valve tight but doesn’t release under vacuum
    Probably not great for the turbos lifespan but that’s up to you really if you want your turbo to possibly die earlier but have turbo noises you go for it

  • @John-te1dp
    @John-te1dp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    I presume the line your clamping is the return line to the recirculation valve? Not sure if it will do the turbo any good. If you change all the pipe from the turbo , crossover and the pipe to the air filter you will get a massive recirculation valve noise sounds great!

    I'd recommend to only do this now and then for a change of sound, because it will cause excessive wear as back pressure is slowing the turbo down which is the noise you hear! Only hybrids and custom turbos are able handle this type of pressure. Also if cars is remapped with stock turbo problem will be even worse

    • @declanduckworth7978

      My engine threw 2 rods a few months after this video was made and everyone said it was because of this but it wasn’t. Only things I’ve heard is that if you overtighten it or abuse it then it could damage your turbo

    • @mkm7962
      @mkm7962 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way this could of contributed to the rod damage would of been fueling issues, this car would of originally come with a recirculation valve to blow excess charge air from the turbo. This is to aid in quicker spool up time for the turbo and helps with economy of a factory setup. The fuel side of it is also is increased on standard ECU map to accommodate the extra charge air from recirc' valve, remove this and you have that bit extra fuel when you let off the accelerator which is why you get the back fire ,'exhaust pop' from excess fuel which eventually would cause catastrophic failure. In short, delete the recirc' valve, remap the ECU to accommodate the air to fuel ratio and you'll be fine. I have owned loads of turbo'd cars big and small and have learnt from my mistakes over the years. Sorry for the boring essay lol.
