I have used unique for a little more than a year and it is awesome. Never had any problems with solids left in the tank. Flows out smooth and fast and the sensors stay a lot cleaner and accurate as well. I park for 3 months at a time without any problems. I drop in double the pods before a drive and it seems to scrub the tank well too.

I was impressed with that. We just bought our first RV about two months ago. It's a 30-ft. Class C. We are moving cross country with it in about two months and we don't want any problems with our tanks so we're looking for the best of everything for our trip. This stuff looks like it might be up to the task. My 92-year old dad lives with us and will be riding with us during our move (which is why we bought the RV in the first place...his comfort) and he has stomach issues and so we want to make the trip as pleasant as possible for him by providing a clean and odor-free bathroom for the trip. I didn’t see this video till today, but I ordered the Unique last week for our new to us 2017 Apex to clean everything good. So far I have been overly shocked at the “stuff” that has been removed from the tanks and the way the level sensors are actually showing the correct readings! Hands down beyond worth the money and highly suggest their other products too!
My wife Jo-Ann and I are Full Time RVers. We never flush any kind of toilet paper down the toilet. We have a trash can with a lid in the bathroom and we line it with a plastic bag. All the paper goes in there and then we throw it out in the trash. It doesn't stink , and we've never had a clogging issue. Our black tank is much easier to dump and flush too.
You sold me on this product! We are using it in our brand new Fifth wheel to see if we can prevent issues from developing or at least to minimize. Also use the toilet bowl cleaner. BTW, your rig is beautiful! Love the decor!👏👍🤩💥
We enjoy your video tips. I have used the Camco RV orange citrus pods from Walmart for several years. Never had a problem or Oder in our Jayco North point 310 fifth wheel. Only thing is the sensor sometimes will read 1/2 full. I’m going to try this to see if it clears it when it occurs.

I just bought my 2004 keystone Everest fifth wheel, the person before… I believe they didn’t flush out their black tank before they let it sit for 6 months and now my tank is clogged… no solids come through when I dump. Will this break everything down and help my problem?
We’ve always used VINEGAR! Half a gallon in each tank once cleaned, everything comes out easily and no harsh chemicals or smell. Backwashing after each time you drain your tanks also keeps them healthy. Thank you for the video.
We use a flush king to clean our tank i do it twice to mske sure they get clean and we use the blue brand yesterday I flush the tank 9 times and solid still coming out the blue brand may help with the smell but breaking down the solid not so much
We tried Unique Digest-it for the better part of a year. It worked great for odors in our black tank but it didn't dissolve the toilet paper and we tried regular single ply and RV rated. We also had a lot more solid waste than you would expect that never broke down. We would start with 5 gallons of water in our 47 gallon tank and 3 ounces of the product (Directions say add 2 ounces for a 40 gallon tank so we added one more ounce). We would also fill the bowl with water every time we used the bathroom before flushing to make sure we were using enough water. Every time we tried to dump the tank, it was blocked and I had to use a reverse flush valve. We contacted the company and their suggestion was to add more of the product after a few days. That didn't work either. Just made the process more costly. I know many people love the product but for us it didn't work. Eventually we went with a different product that has worked really well so far. YMMV
@@mistyaprilartist We had Kleen Tank clean out our tanks and they suggested using a Pinesol/Calgon Bath Beads Mix. Their reciope is to mix 40 ounces of Pine-Sol with enough water to just about fill a gallon jug. Top off with a half cup of Calgon Bath Beads. Shake well and let all beads dissolve. Use eight ounces in each tank. It's much cheaper and works great!
I am currently using the unique brand and do find it to be a very good product, I was recently informed that since we have a Dometic Vacuflush system we need to be using the dometic product as it is not the tradiational gravity feed system - Your Thoughts on this matter? THX in advance
Question: You say a pack of yeast can be used (we are on septic in our sticks and bricks and I understand the add the yeast...). Do you recommend a tank treatment over a pack of yeast? Also, clean tank states not to use a tank treatment, but to put in the pinesol calgon mixture. I believe this mixture will kill the good bacteria. Can you please clarify treatment vs pinesol calgon?

I immediately went to their site, but I couldn't wait for delivery, so I went to Amazon and ordered there! Excellent advice for anyone who has an emergency! I was hospitalized a couple months ago, so my ex was "helping me out" (he was homeless at the time, but told everyone I needed help.). So when I came home from the hospital I was told by someone else that security beat on the door to wake him because there was water pouring out if the back of the rv. It's a 2003 - the flush ball stuck slightly open. So, he's been gone 2 weeks now. The day before yesterday, my daughter came over, used the bathroom, and came out -"I'm sorry! i plugged the toilet! I told her I'd take care of it. So, when I went out to dump the tank (which my late husband dubbed "pulling the T-Handles"), I noticed that my ex had not only broken the handles off, but he had left the valve partially open.. i don't know, maybe he thought that might keep it from overflowing again! Anyway, that meant I had a pyramid. One that had probably been building up - and solidifying - since the first week of December! I had "tools" on hand - my late husband bought them before he got sick - and so I diligently studied everything I could find on what to do. NONE OF IT WORKED! So, for some reason, instead of a Google Search, I searched TH-cam! I ran into a video telling me about this UNIQUE stuff, I looked up their site, but I was DESPERATE! I recently had major GI surgery - they removed my entire large intestine - and things don't work the same! I went to Amazon - the price was $2 more, and I paid the extra to have it delivered faster! I saw the notification that delivery had been made, and I rushed out the door and didn't see it! I went to look outside the little fence. Nope! Just then a car with 2 women sped by,, slammed on the brakes, backed up and the driver said, "Amazon?" Yep! She said she'd bring it to me, and I met her halfway. I rushed in, put 2 oz. Into the toilet, and looked at the time. Started counting down the two hours and read about the product. Oh, first dose, double! Okay. Did that. Now, I have cut out everything I tried before I placed that order, bit if you've ever encountered this, you have some idea! Leave if to say i had become so desperate that I broke down and shut off the water and brought in the snake - determined to be extremely careful - I wouldn't put it in deep enough to risk puncturing the tank! Well, THAT wouldn't be a concern! It didn't go very far before it hit CONCRETE!!! So THIS UNIQUE STUFF better be able to perform a miracle! It was going on 24 hours since I had put the bathroom on "out of order". To prevent having to use it, I had not had anything to eat or drink. But I have an entirely messed up system, and even though they did that surgery, I still ended up septic again in December! So I have to be careful what I do! The park has restrooms, but I can't walk that far, and my ex burnt up my car just before be left, so I don't have transportation. So THAT PRODUCT had to perform a miracle - or I might end up in the hospital again. Well, I'm here writing this account, so you have to know - UNIQUE DIGEST IT IS THE MIRACLE I NEEDED! The "funny" thing is, after I hurriedly placed the order, I started reading on Unique's site, and they said that if you had my problem, the Digest it was NOT the product I needed! I panicked! My experience is that the DIGEST IT will not clear your sensors in two hours or two days, but 2-3 treatments over a couple of months will do the trick.
I bought a used chevy van motorhome that has a "recirculating" toilet. Thetford model 80 ... I am trying to find natural and non chemical type of thing for smell etc. too. First time I've ever had one.. Have to prime with 3 gallons and it will fill when up to 7 I think.. then dump. No actual holding tank.
Went to Amazon to buy this and there’s a bunch of types of Unique. Which one is this referring to? I was guessing the “cleaner liquid” based on the bottle image? There was a “digest it” one too… too many options 🤦♀️
Used it for 2 seasons, but now it seems hard to find. Out of stock and some on Amazon have jumped in price, like 3 times as high if you can find it... inflation !! lol A sign of the times.
I used unique a few years back it worked decent in breaking down waste but did just ok in the odor department @32 bucks a quart or a dollar an ounce it's a little pricey I use the rid x RV works very good in breaking down waste and controling odor
Obviously the "blue" brand is Happy Campers. I believe the instructions say to mix with at least a gallon of water, here you've mixed a scoop with maybe a cup of water. I'm not discounting Unique, but I can see several flaws with this "test"...I have no allegiance to any product, but am curious enough to try Unique.

Hey Tod! I'm renovating a 2010 Heartland 36' Bighorn 5th Wheel that has not been properly serviced and cared for. Black tank and both grey tanks sencors read 2/3 or more full even after dumping. I have made multiple attemps using differnt products each time, Bleach, vinegar baking soda plus the RV Tank Sencor cleaning stuff the sell at Walmart which of course did not work. Can't afford to call in a professional so what do I D.U.I it?

Botanical Rodent Repellant!!! Tractor Supply...comes in little bags..used before putting RV into storage..opened this season and No more traces of any criiters!!!
Plug up the holes where your rodents are coming in. They come in to nest in the fall. use steel wool that they can't chew. Spray straight vinegar on your air conditioning coils and that will kill most of the mildew.
I have used Unique products in the past as well as the 'blue' and TankTechsRX. I switched from Unique because it didn't seem to work as well in hot weather. Any info on that or if they have a product for hot weather?
Absolutely. They have the hot weather odor eliminator. When hot weather rolls around the bacteria will tend to dry out quicker. First tip is to keep the tanks with more water than normal. Second tip is to simply add ice from time to time to lower the tank temps. Third is to go with the odor eliminator from Unique. To be honest the odor eliminator is the same chemical makeup as the other brands that only take care of smells. The consideration is that those odor eliminators should be used only when needed. They do harm the bacteria in the tank and we want the bacteria to flourish. So best tips are 1) add more gallons of water to the black tank after flush 2) add ice to lower temps. 3) if needed add the odor eliminator along with the Digestit. Call it a “summer blend”
That's great but being new to RVing I have to ask what exactly does this do for us? Does it drain quicker at the dumping station or before you leave a site with sewer hookup?

If your solids aren't being flushed out, they accumulate in the tank. This creates odors and reduces capacity and eventually you'll have to replace the (full) tank which no one wants to do so it will cost big bucks.
My black tank stinks after three days using this product. We have now had our tank pressure wash. They said it is not breaking down and to use TST. If this does not work, an update will follow.
If it’s getting close to 90 degrees out side you can add their tank odor eliminator. The stink is dehydrated bacteria. You need to keep water in the tank and keep the bacteria hydrated.
Why create a peanut butter sludge that coats the entire tank & sensors? Why not use the appropriate amount of water after each toilet use and flush the solids out when dumping? I understand using a product like Unique if you have the infamous poop pyramid, but for everyday use are those products really necessary? After all, RV tanks are holding tanks, not septic tanks.
You don’t have to use anything but water. We’ve seen cases where there’s been blockage at the outlet of the tank, the water drains out but the solids stayed. Over time it built up. That wouldn’t happen if there were no solids. But choose to do what you want. There’s schools of thought on both sides of the discussion. Neither are wrong.
We purchased a used 5th wheel and arent sure how to get the tanks clean. They were left full 🤢 and even using different cleaning items on it our sensors still show 2/3 full even after dumping. Some one said try a swivel stick but if its caked in there will that actually work or do I need to just fill it completely with water then add this and let it sit?
I hope that you have been able to get this resolved. If not here are a few options. You can use something like Unique to help break down the solids. let it set for 24-48hrs if you can. you can also see if you have a professional RV tank cleaner in your area that can help you. Pro Tip, the sensors on those tanks are all very unreliable. it just takes something to stay attached to it for the sensor to read and then you won't be able to get a accurate reading.
Question I’ve already used some tst to breakdown the black and the grey tank and it’s still clogged can I use this unique with already having that tst in the tank ? Thanks Brian ps it’s a Winnebago Era with a macerator pump the pump seems to be working but maybe the impeller is bad , also if so can I replace it without draining the tanks as they don’t seem to want to drain
We have a macerator as well. All sorts of crap gets tangled around the impeller. We have to take it apart 2 or 3 times a month and clean it off. Then works good as new lol

So it can be mineral build up which no cleaner can break down. Might need to gage it professionally cleaned.

Vinegar will soften and swell/deteriorate seals over time. Not as fast as bleach, though.
I use Unique’s RV Digest-It together with the Geo Method and I’m able to get keep the sensors working.

My experience is that the DIGEST IT will not clear your sensors in two hours or two days, but 2-3 treatments over a couple of months will do the trick.

I bought a used chevy van motorhome that has a "recirculating" toilet. Thetford model 80 ... I am trying to find natural and non chemical type of thing for smell etc. too. First time I've ever had one.. Have to prime with 3 gallons and it will fill when up to 7 I think.. then dump. No actual holding tank.
The RV Unique says it's "septic safe". Does that mean you could use this stuff in a home septic tank?

The enzymes eat the “food” so it’s not corrosive to plastic. But ALWAYS check with your manufacturer first.
If our camper stays connected to shore power constantly, should we keep the battery connected or disconnect it with the battery disconnect switch?
Went to Amazon to buy this and there’s a bunch of types of Unique. Which one is this referring to? I was guessing the “cleaner liquid” based on the bottle image? There was a “digest it” one too… too many options 🤦♀️

I tried a different brand that is supposed to be a good enzyme treatment but it smelled worse than my black tank! Does Unique have a strong odor?
When it’s hot the process can become pretty stinky. They have a tank deodorizer that will help in hot situations.
Used it for 2 seasons, but now it seems hard to find. Out of stock and some on Amazon have jumped in price, like 3 times as high if you can find it... inflation !! lol A sign of the times.
I used unique a few years back it worked decent in breaking down waste but did just ok in the odor department @32 bucks a quart or a dollar an ounce it's a little pricey I use the rid x RV works very good in breaking down waste and controling odor
I just had Amazon deliver a 32 oz. Bottle. for $16.99, so maybe they've come down in price!

Obviously the "blue" brand is Happy Campers. I believe the instructions say to mix with at least a gallon of water, here you've mixed a scoop with maybe a cup of water. I'm not discounting Unique, but I can see several flaws with this "test"...I have no allegiance to any product, but am curious enough to try Unique.

We did this and we noticed no difference in what our tabs did compared to Unique. Unique also did not control the odor.

Hey Tod! I'm renovating a 2010 Heartland 36' Bighorn 5th Wheel that has not been properly serviced and cared for. Black tank and both grey tanks sencors read 2/3 or more full even after dumping. I have made multiple attemps using differnt products each time, Bleach, vinegar baking soda plus the RV Tank Sencor cleaning stuff the sell at Walmart which of course did not work. Can't afford to call in a professional so what do I D.U.I it?

Botanical Rodent Repellant!!! Tractor Supply...comes in little bags..used before putting RV into storage..opened this season and No more traces of any criiters!!!
Plug up the holes where your rodents are coming in. They come in to nest in the fall. use steel wool that they can't chew.
Spray straight vinegar on your air conditioning coils and that will kill most of the mildew.

We been using HAPPY CAMPER and it works like they say, the reason why, u can use almost any t p the best is septic tank safe.
I have used Unique products in the past as well as the 'blue' and TankTechsRX. I switched from Unique because it didn't seem to work as well in hot weather. Any info on that or if they have a product for hot weather?
Absolutely. They have the hot weather odor eliminator.
When hot weather rolls around the bacteria will tend to dry out quicker. First tip is to keep the tanks with more water than normal.
Second tip is to simply add ice from time to time to lower the tank temps.
Third is to go with the odor eliminator from Unique. To be honest the odor eliminator is the same chemical makeup as the other brands that only take care of smells.
The consideration is that those odor eliminators should be used only when needed. They do harm the bacteria in the tank and we want the bacteria to flourish. So best tips are
1) add more gallons of water to the black tank after flush
2) add ice to lower temps.
3) if needed add the odor eliminator along with the Digestit. Call it a “summer blend”

This is to treat your black tank. Just like a septic tank, you want to have something to break down the solids in your black tank.

If your solids aren't being flushed out, they accumulate in the tank. This creates odors and reduces capacity and eventually you'll have to replace the (full) tank which no one wants to do so it will cost big bucks.

I tried Unique to clean my sensors, so they would start working again. Used the whole bottle in a 30 Gal. tank. Didn't work. :-(
You may have some other underlying issues. I’d let them know.
Use Walex Commando BUT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. You may have to do two or three treatments with the water all the way to the top.
My black tank stinks after three days using this product.
We have now had our tank pressure wash. They said it is not breaking down and to use TST.
If this does not work, an update will follow.
If it’s getting close to 90 degrees out side you can add their tank odor eliminator. The stink is dehydrated bacteria. You need to keep water in the tank and keep the bacteria hydrated.

Why create a peanut butter sludge that coats the entire tank & sensors? Why not use the appropriate amount of water after each toilet use and flush the solids out when dumping? I understand using a product like Unique if you have the infamous poop pyramid, but for everyday use are those products really necessary? After all, RV tanks are holding tanks, not septic tanks.
You don’t have to use anything but water. We’ve seen cases where there’s been blockage at the outlet of the tank, the water drains out but the solids stayed. Over time it built up. That wouldn’t happen if there were no solids.
But choose to do what you want. There’s schools of thought on both sides of the discussion. Neither are wrong.
isit safe on older tanks 20 +? is it all natural bacteria?
We purchased a used 5th wheel and arent sure how to get the tanks clean. They were left full 🤢 and even using different cleaning items on it our sensors still show 2/3 full even after dumping. Some one said try a swivel stick but if its caked in there will that actually work or do I need to just fill it completely with water then add this and let it sit?
I hope that you have been able to get this resolved. If not here are a few options. You can use something like Unique to help break down the solids. let it set for 24-48hrs if you can. you can also see if you have a professional RV tank cleaner in your area that can help you. Pro Tip, the sensors on those tanks are all very unreliable. it just takes something to stay attached to it for the sensor to read and then you won't be able to get a accurate reading.

If you have yeast to your home septic system it'll do the same thing. The RV park at the NRVTA actually uses yeast in our septic systems.

Question I’ve already used some tst to breakdown the black and the grey tank and it’s still clogged can I use this unique with already having that tst in the tank ? Thanks Brian ps it’s a Winnebago Era with a macerator pump the pump seems to be working but maybe the impeller is bad , also if so can I replace it without draining the tanks as they don’t seem to want to drain
We have a macerator as well. All sorts of crap gets tangled around the impeller. We have to take it apart 2 or 3 times a month and clean it off. Then works good as new lol

The white handle is your fresh tank dump. We usually use it when sanitizing the fresh water tank
