Top 10 - Gliders Skimming Through Mountain Gaps

  • Here are my 10 favorite moments flying my glider through high mountain saddles, gaps, and passes. Please do not attempt to do this kind of flying yourself. If it goes badly, you are dead before you know it. Please note the airspeed going through each pass is at least over 100 miles per hour and there is plenty of energy in the glider to pull up and gain hundreds of feet at any moment. At all times in these videos I could have turned an gone down a canyon to make a safe landing in one of the valleys below.
I am very interested in hearing feedback if people like the idea of top 10 lists with short snippets of some of my past videos. It is a little different and I hope is entertaining. I'm thinking my next top list will be landing a glider in farmers' fields. Most of these videos were either taken up near Afton, Wyoming or near Manti, Utah. The gliders I am flying are either an ASW 27B, or an ASW 20BL. Both are 15 meter high performance sailplanes. I hope you enjoy the video. Bruno - B4

Nr. 1: It's that "I gotta do it..." and the slightly evil chuckle that makes me smile from ear-to-ear every time :)

Thank you so much for making your videos. I cannot express the wonder, joy, and freedom your videos imbue. I wish I had the resources, time, training, and experience to do the same. Keep flying and sharing. Thank you

The lesson I get from this is, not that these maneuvers are particularly dangerous, but, that airspeed is your friend. You had plenty in all these. Great fun Bruno. Can't wait to get up there myself!

God! Bruno! Your videos are so amazing and so inspiring. You are so lucky to live in the perfect geography to be able to fly the way you do. And I think it would take a lot of experience to learn to do what you do without flying into the mountain. Good of you to put the warning on the front end of this video. Don't worry about me. I don't think I'll ever have the balls to fly so close to the trees.

You're literally my idol. I'm only 15 and just completed training on the ask-21 so I may now fly solo on the ask-23. I hope I can ever be as good as you are! It's a long way but I hope that I'll get there some day

That video was a great entertainment! And yes, please do lists! As much as we all love ya, it is not often that I can allow myself to sit through a full 4+ hour vid, unfortunately. ;)
