    Aptera continues to be the game changer. Efficiency is the philosophy, the gains come as a result of this approach, including aesthetics and performance. This other vehicle starts with performance goals and sports aesthetics and tries to catch up on efficiency. More of the same OEM approach that has plaged the industry forever.
    Hands down, Aptera! Slow and steady wins the design race… 🙌🏽 ☀️

    Thanks for putting this together. 3 main flaws of the Spiritus: No storage, worse safety, and RWD (single wheel) means winter usage is completely out. PS: The Electric Viking did a 2nd video on the crypto angle and basically every comment is slamming this feature as stupid and flawed

    • @ApteraOwnersClub

      yeah the crypto mining is just silly and ridiculous. It's like having a microwave with crypto mining. crypto mining itself is very energy intensive and terrible for the environment, why on earth would anyone want to promote it?

    • @ccibinel
      @ccibinel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ApteraOwnersClub Crypto mining is viewed as the future and a way to reduce the power of governments. The flaws are many including environmental, diversion of good engineers, support of organized crime and fees far too high for a functioning currency. While fiat currencies are secured by governments current crypto uses wasted power (approximately on par with Sweden for bitcoin alone). Many even in the crypto community many don't want proof of stake since that is centralization but wasting countries worth of power usage is insane. The technology still needs work before it can have processing times and fees low enough to be used as a real currency - unit then its a high risk way of holding money. Either way energy intensive operations which require specialized computing equipment have no business being on a moving vehicle. PS: I stopped crypto mining 2 years ago (gpu during cold months only) and am now running folding at home instead; better to do something useful than make $1 per day before factoring in power.

    • @ApteraOwnersClub
      @ApteraOwnersClub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      agree with everything you said. I think once the technical hurdles of using proof of work and other energy intensive methods are overcome and the energy overhead of crypto is drastically lowered, there are definitely advantages to crypto over other forms of currency but as it is currently, i personally can't support it.

      There is only one potential use for mobile mining and that is consumption of electricity to avoid excess full storage when fully charged and plugged to the solar charger with full mega packs someplace off grid which also has internet. But at such a low volume where its mobile and the cooling isnt even designed for it cannot have any significant performance.

    • @adimchionyenadum2962
      @adimchionyenadum2962 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That someone's application of some technology may be flawed doesn't mean the technology itself is flawed. As of today about 56% or more of Bitcoin mining is done with renewable clean energy. This is in contrast to many energy guzzling, and CO2 emitting, industrial and economic activities of our modern society. But unfortunately FUDs, as served by libelous controlled media, and abject ignorance, will always be the fate of those who are too lazy to do their own research. At least we can limit the discussion here to the vehicle and stop straying into areas we have little or no knowledge of.

    Thank you for this video. It's nice to see other cars come to market. But I think this was meant mainly to be a fun-mobile. The way that it is shaped is the opposite to the Aptera. As such, one of the reasons this vehicle gets 1/2 the battery mileage is because it is a giant wind-catcher. It does not seem to be really based on 1st principles, but more out of ease of construction and also bases itself on legacy perceptions of aesthetics, more so than aerodynamics. It's less expensive, but not sufficiently, and that's by a long-shot, for me to consider it over an Aptera.
    But given it's much lower complexity and capability, if they were to perfect their manufacturing process they would likely be able also to further reduce its MSRP by another $4K, at least. As such, then it might acquire a market of its own that would be in a different category than the Aptera. It is disadvantaged though due to the fact that Aptera will be first to market.

    I’ve driven my friends slingshot and yes it is fun but we did drive through a thunderstorm and this one had the partial roof option on it but still we stopped and put on rain coats and already had on helmets. I think of Aptera as the Tesla of the 3 Wheel space. Way ahead of the others.

    • @ccibinel
      @ccibinel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Their starting market is in the US so roads can handle it; the currrent design is likely locked in for details like basic width. They would need to narrow the body (ie no center console), bring the wheel pods closer (worse aerodynamics) or make the pods functionally retract as low speed (complex - see trigo). I suspect they will eventually try to narrow it in a 2nd model or 3rd model by eliminating the center console and taking some aeroydynamic hit. The reason I say 2nd or 3rd is that a 2 row seating version (either 3 wheel or 4) will likely be the next focus. Completely lacking a distribution and repair network I think they will want to be a little conservative about how thing progress from the initial model.

    The battery at the front of the vehicle isn't as bad of an idea. In a three wheeler you want the center of gravity, not just low, but more towards the front where the two spread out wheels are. This is more of a sporty three wheeler than a commuter. I would say it competes with the Vanderhall and the Slingshot. Only thing I'm not sure about the solvency of the company. Good luck to them.

    I didn't realize this video was a year old. All I really wanted to say is that while this autocycle is narrower than the Aptera, it doesn't have the fairings over the wheels, and so they don't need that room between the wheels and the nose. The wider stance makes the Aptera more stable in the corners, even though you might hit some curbs. 😂
    I'd be afraid if you hit the brakes the rear wheel would rise up.
    I would also recommend they put solar panels on that long flat nose. The few panels they have don't cover a lot of space, and point backwards. I realize they are going for looks, but they could get 15 miles per day or even 20 with more coverage.

    You read my mind in coming out with a Daymak Spiritus/Aptera comparison. They have been promising this model for a long while now, but with the prototype model built, and a battery supplier alliance, and initial funding secured, it looks like it may finally be built in 2023. I also wonder why there is still another year before they are planning on showing a second prototype, especially with the relatively simple design and engineering. There were many different versions and specs of this model shown before, and it still is uncertain if has dual front Elaphe motors (prototype), or more likely one bigger rear Elaphe motor (specs-L1500?). One 75kW motor out back would match the slower 0-60 time, given the light weight and smaller size. The super high performance model seems unrealistic on many levels. Essentially it's similar to the 25kWh/AWD Aptera in power, and a bit lighter with a carbon fiber body, but nothing explains the 1.8 sec estimated 0-60 time, especially with an 80kWh battery. Or the $150K price! The regular battery pack is supposed to be LFP, which is cheaper but it has less energy density, so it is larger and heavier for a given power capability. I also like this Spiritus better than the Solo or Archimoto, but it falls short from the Aptera in range, efficiency, performance value, and solar capability. Still, it's close enough to the Aptera (if it gets built) to be realistically compared. And for certain city areas where the 9" narrower width makes a difference, it could be a better fit (literally) for those buyers. Thanks for the nice coverage as usual.

  • @CCR-ew6ke
    @CCR-ew6ke 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wait, if it's low to the ground (as in how low compared to Tesla and other Evs) how close is the battery pack to the HOT road. Remember the first year the Nissan Leaf came out and the battery pack was not protected from the heat of the road --- well it wasn't good on the battery. So what is the protection for the battery pack.

    • @sx5r
      @sx5r 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup. The manufacturer has no experience with high end electric vehicles. The details are kinda wrong. Huge (&heavy) battery, heavy frame, high energy consumption, >2m wide, no trunk whatsoever, tires with huge rolling resistance, crypto-mining gimmick (wtf?). There are cars that are lighter than this bike.
      If you design such a bike/car, there needs to be some kind of bonus. Like the Aptera, which ist extremely power-efficient.
      I think Aptera sacrificed too much for the last percent of efficiency and at the same time failed to implement their concept to the fullest by sticking unnecessarily to established solutions. Still, their concept ist stringent. The Spiritus‘ concept is not.

      I see where you're coming from, but then the Aptera wouldn't be the Aptera, what it lacks in style it makes up for in functionality. The Aptera is more aerodynamic due to its design. Aptera is the product of what you get when you take away what a conventional look of a vehicle. It is the work of functionality and science over form. In order to get the range that it has, they had to lower the drag coefficient change how it might look and the way the solar cells are arranged coupled with the ability to take in good amounts of solar energy even when damage sets it apart. So, in the end you get something that looks different.

    I will be super surprised if this thing can get to market at all let alone in anything approaching large numbers. It is stupifyingly difficult (and expensive!) to go from prototype to viable production on any kind of vehicle. Even the Aptera is not 100% likely to get to that point, though it is far more likely than the Spiritus in my opinion. The Alpha Ace and Wolf (two very cool EV vaporwares right now) have, I would say, about a 10-20% chance of making it. And that's a shame too because the Ace and Wolf are two of the most interesting looking vehicles of any kind I've seen in a while. I wish them all the best of luck though.

    The exhaust is tail lights to look like exhaust, it also has a crypto mining machine in it, so that is what makes it utilize a bit more battery power. This doesn't seem like a good nonbiased comparison and the battery is low in the front to keep weight on the front end to keep weight on the front end.

    Feels like someone is trying to ride on the coattails of Aptera. Aptera overall really feels like a much much much better designed vehicle.
    The Spiritus managed to make a little three-wheeler wih a coefficient of drag of 0.3 which is pretty much as bad as a large brick of an suv given how much less "car" you are getting and that to me is completely hilarious.
    The spiritus is form over function, the aptera is function over form, and that to me is much more useful in the grand scheme of things and very refreshing.

    The Spiritus just a concept at this point I really think that they are closely monitoring Aptera. Hence why they included the solar panel.
    That being said instead of offering storage or practicality they're just going for a gimmicky features like crypto mining, and supposed flying vehicle. Instead of going for more common sense items like extended range.

  • @neoamerican3392
    @neoamerican3392 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the exterior design, sporty and aggressive but not practical enough since it has no storage and it is too low. I love the looks. The Aptera on the other hand looks more promising except solar panels generate some unhealthy amounts of radiation and I wouldn't like to have them overhead on that or any vehicle.

  • @bujin5455

    10:10. I seriously doubt this thing handles well, and certainly not as well as the Aptera. The Aptera not only has a lower center of gravity, it has a wider wheel base, and it has more centralized mass (which is going to improve its yaw moment). The Spiritus having all those batteries up front is going to make the vehicle nose heavy, which will cause it to push through turns. On top of that, having the narrower wheel base, combined with a tall battery stack, is going to undermine vehicle stability at the limit. I would absolutely go with an Aptera, even a base model, over this thing. Just for driving fun. That's before even talking about how much more practical the Aptera is.

    Those doors look like they would hit the cars next to you if you were parking...that would be pretty annoying. It looks cool, but no trunk space is another deal killer for me. One rear wheel drive doesn't sound great for winter. I don't like how wide Aptera's front wheels are nor how low they are to the ground, I wonder how it would work in a few inches of snow. I do love the efficiency angle and the trunk space as well as the solar. For me 90% of the time, solar would get me where I was going and back (except during some parts of winter). Personally, I'm going to wait a few years before buying an EV, a used future EV will likely be better and cheaper than current EV's.

    Ironically, a "Commuter Vehicle" needs to place the driver up HIGH, where they can see the traffic and lanes around them.
    Seems the Designers should know this
    I traded a Porsche for a 4Runner to deal with LA traffic. Being in a low sports car, you can only see 1-2 car-distances around you.
    The 4Runner "performed" better, giving visibility, which means getting through traffic more efficiently
    Los Angeles; 6 lanes packed with cars, at 25mph average requires a very different design, which EVs should do very well.
    On a 40 mile commute which takes 1.5hrs... solar charging starts to make sense, even.
    And yes, I did quit that and sail oceans now; problem solved

    The Spiritus looks super cool, almost like a small muscle car, interior looks super nice. buttttt that’s about it. The Aptera beats it in almost every way, more space, further mileage, seems more safe and I mean come on you can get all the features for a fraction of the cost. This video is a useful introduction to the Daymak, but this thing is nowhere in the same league as Aptera. They share a basic formfactor but the Aptera is leagues ahead in almost every conceivable aspect of design and manufacturing. The Aptera is a vehicle and the Daymak is a very expensive toy. The off-the-shelf battery design of the Daymak is enough to tell you that. Its even situated in the most vulnerable spot on the vehicle. Also, I honestly don't see a use case for it with the Aptera starting at under $26k.

  • @OrlandoMGarcia

    It is unreal in the data of the car
    weight: considering things like the slingshot and morgan 3 wheeler are heavier and smaller that this is a pretty positive considering this is a BEV abd even the 36kW pack would weight at least 100kg (220lb) in the case of the top trimhow you make a 600kg vehicle where the battery weights half of it. You could make it but at a cost of safety also things like a BAC mono made from composites and being more from air weights 1300lb
    Acceleration: on the top trim you will need something like 400kW but more important wide and sticky wheels
    Aero: from the same design obtaining .29 (possible) and .13 cx from similar designs is impossible considering the aptera has to have wheel covers and no vents to archive this.
    This product is a vaporwave/sham or clearly made by someone who hasn’t real engineering backround or has but no industrial knowledge to put it on production, also is this the same brand that put a whole range of e movility but hast put any actual model on display?
