damn was that a 3 ply skin? when i was growing up you skinned it with one layer of shitty plywood if you were lucky. This is a beautiful ramp. nice work
That’s cause we were ripping off wood from a local construction site late at night before security showed up. You needed to get in and get the fuck out. Three ply is a luxury item.
@@efecordero Hardboard Tempered Panel (3/16" x 4ft. x 8ft.) It's tempered and smooth on one side. Works great, but isn't completely weatherproof, so if your weather is like mine (UK), you have to keep it covered.
Looks amazing! Is there anyway a miniramp-hungry-skater could get a specs list, as well as materials used, on this ramp? Because I would love to build it myself! Cheers, stay awesome and keep up the fantastic work!
I built the 1st ramp in Maui lahaina for community service and the 2nd while on Red line at MCCC. I had to skate in work boots but it was alot of fun...
Stefano Fontana they put 2 layers of played wood to give it more support and to alternate the holes the thing on top I think is masonite but it could be skatelite or ramp armor
Awesome job guy ! I'm trying to build a miniramp myself, could you give me some tips ? I'm thinking to use 2 layers of MDF, 3mm each. And a harboard cover, 2,5mm. Do you think it will be enough ? It will stay indoors, low use... Thank you !
it's called ramp armor. very smooth and durable. in this video they use the cheaper indoor version. there's a more expensive outdoor version which protects the ramp from enviromental damage.
Hey man, I know this is four years late but I took some photos from this video and drew out my best guess on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. No measurements, but the shape should be accurate and the geometry should be sound. imgur.com/a/0BXS85c
They used a thin sheet of fiberboard. It's like MDF, but it's very pliable and dense, so it can be bent to the contour of the ramp and it's very smooth to ride on.
I’m building a basement mini right now, 16 ft long, 8 ft wide, 2 and a half ft tall, 2 and a half ft for the standing areas on the top. I am very excited because I’m looking forward to maybe having my bois come and scooter, skate and listen to some music and ride. I will definitely save this video for some ideas.
Question: Is 2 5/16" (outside diameter) too large for coping? I'm building a very similar (4' high) ramp to what was built in this video. Second question: Is 10' too long for a flat bottom? I'm thinking 10' (rather than 8') because I'm 46 years old and predict I'll need that extra time to regroup after coming down a transition. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Took us 24 hours from the initial planning to completion. I think total cost was around $1500. But that is a ballpark figure, I can't remember exactly how much everything cost.
AndreCorner That black skatelite prob cost that much alone. It can be done for 300-500 bucks but it won't be like this one. diyskate.com will help you out.
Nick Joslin really?? Only that?? I can't believe it, if that's the price I should start building one right now considering I have all the space I want!
why wont anyone who posts these videos just tell people how much it costs? whats the big secret. people want to build their own, not just watch you build yours.. whats the deal?
Kirby Dinglebear count each board they bring in, go to a hardware store and get an estimate. If you cant build it yourself you take that material list to a contractor to get the cost or a few handy buddys if the cost needs to be lower. Cheers happy skating.
Kirby Dinglebear I got pretty much the same size mini ramp built by a contactor and it took 4 guys and one in a half days to do it for 5 thousand.I'm just assuming but I picture a thousand dollars of wood and 1 thousand dollars for each guy since it was their own company.
henri kulmala I believe you are misconceiving the definition of the word "misconceiving." The word you are looking for is misleading or deceptive. Yeah ok I am being petty, but so were you with your original comment!
Saga Outerwear What ply thicknesses did you use for the first two layers? and what exactly was the final layer , and thickness? and lastly the last layer, is it put on the 45 degree compared to the other panels? Wicked video and sweet ramp
I believe the first layer was 5/8" and then 1/4". The final layer was about an 1/8" thick but not exactly sure. We put the final sheeting on at an angle because it helps the seams from wearing after a lot of use.
I'm building a similiar size. Can you share the ramp plans? I want to know how you joined the two 8" wide halves together at the seam? I didn't see it happen in the vid
Geez that really helped! Glad i watched this now because this was so detailed il just go throw one of these ramps up now. 5 minutes later: im done thanks guys!
That's so awesome I've been doing Carpentry work for 11 years. I would love to have a job like this. Does anyone know what the finishing layer was. Sheet metal maybe?
Not exactly sure what they used but theres a variety of products to use for the final skin, skatelite is the most popular and extremely expensive. The best option is to have your ramp indoors, ive built ramps indoor and used 5mm thick masonite as the final skin and source a good quality sealing paint made for skating and all it needs is a light top coat every year or so. I'm a carpenter and have built a fair few ramps and it's never a cheap thing to do properly unfortunately but it is fkn awesome to open my back door and skate on my own private mini ramo
the way i did it was by just going down to my local skate park with a piece of plywood trace the edge of the ramp to the plywood then cut it out and hey presto you now have a template
I can't believe it only took 5 minutes. That is incredible.
You guys move really fast
They were speeding up the vid
.......
Devin Hamilton wait whaaaaaaat?
Devin Hamilton NOOO WAAAY?
OMG wow I'm going tell my mom how fast they were moving!
If only I had the space to build something like this... Good work guys, would love to see a vid of you shredding this
Wow! It actually worked i built this in 5 min! Thanks man :)
justin kilburn hahahahahaha
I believe you NOT!😂

Nice! Perfect ramp. You should make a video for vert extensions maybe even a slight roll in. Keep it up impressive work.
You know what i want for my birthday...
To build that fast
You guys are sooo amazing
really nice miniramp. i love miniramp-skating.
now where the hell is a video of this ramp being skated on???

Why you did a double layer of wood? What kind of wood? What is the third final dark layer?
On the edge what is the long bar you placed? thanks guys!
I think it of that black material sometimes use in skate parks
Stefano Fontana they put 2 layers of played wood to give it more support and to alternate the holes
the thing on top I think is masonite but it could be skatelite or ramp armor
As someone who has made a mini ramp, the extra layers are for protection. It always needs a lot of wood to compensate for how bendy the wood is
What was that top layer you used? Also could you upload the plans for this? Thank you!
Perfect! could you please send me the plans and size of your mini ramp? Looks like a perfect transition!
Cheers!
Can you send me the mesurements?
Did you get those measurements?
Looking to build one for my kids.

Masonite
Where is it available or what brand should I look for. It’s not Masonite cause it bends over the side and they used no nails
Skatelite
We have a mini ramp at home, and were wondering what the black sheets you put on the top of the ramp were?
Take me back to day with me & my bro’s built ramps & Such! 🛹
What is the template of the drop in because I don't want it to deep but not to small but your seems good if you could reply that would be great

Is the top layer Skate Lite? How did you guys install the final layer of ply? I don't see screws or nail hose. Is it glued on?
Satisfying to watch. Wish I could skate it.
Hello Saga Outerwear !
I wonder what type of wood used to cover the last layer of the end. I mean they put the dark wood at the end?
They used a thin sheet of fiberboard. It's like MDF, but it's very pliable and dense, so it can be bent to the contour of the ramp and it's very smooth to ride on.
research "ramp armor" bro :)

nice vid but who made this awsome music to the vid just love the beats man i need to know
Why was the skatelite put in on an angle like that? Is it just to make it smoother? Looks like a pain in the ass to do all the cuts :P

how much did all that cost
probablly around 300-350

Peter hartnett prob $3000-4000 your math is off the chart bud 👌🏼😂😂
omg 3K to 4K worth of wood, that sh*t is expensive on your country
nah in america its not that expensive probably costed them around 1-1.5k to build it

hola que material es la ultima capa de color oscuro que le ponen?

how much did all the materials cost ?!
hey what wood are you using for the flat parts
how long in real time did this take to make
What is the black material that you cover the ramp in the end? Does it lowers the sound?
Either Masonite or skatelite and yes it's a lot quieter than skating on regular plywood
how long do it takes to make that
Do you have the measurements or drawing for this mini ramp?
Any luck 🍀 getting measurements?
what kind of wood is the last one the brown ? really cool doing it
Masonite, it's like the stuff you see in indoor skateparks.
Does anyone know why they put the skatelite on diagonally?
what did you use for the final layer on top where can you buy it at and can it be built to be outside?
Pretty sure it's masonite, or skatelite. but it doesn't hold up outdoors.
Saga, you have the dimensions/specs on this?
what would you charge?
