    Bob Daisley is one of the great unsung/behind the scenes people in hard rock. Not to mention his great songwriting skills as well as a really good bassist. He's played with everybody. His new book, For Facts Sake is expensive, but a great read. A well written bio on his journey through the rock world. He pulls no punches and it's not a slam job either. The bulk of the book deals with his trials and tribulations with Ozzy and Sharon Arden/Osbourne. Shows them for who they are, without a lot of anger. Lots of great pics, and a lot great humor. For those who love Sharon Osbourne (anyone?), you may not like it.

      Love the book! I was surprised when it came to my door, it's a huge hardcover, the pics are heaven for fans of the first two Ozzy records.

      Can’t wait to read it! Bob’s interviews turned my impression of the Osbourne’s upside down and inside out. Sharon Osbourne is definitely off my Christmas card list. For years I thought Ozzy wrote the amazing lyrics on those first two albums. Bob sounds like a top bloke I must say

    MUCH RESPECT MR BOB DAISLEY! after reading Bob's book "for facts sake" I felt like Bob is a family member. He is so much the backbone if the music that snagged my soul!

    Bob is truly underrated in my view and he's someone who tells it how he sees it. As far as the lyrics go, lyrics are more important to me than the music. Anyone can put words to a song but it takes creative genius to put meaningful lyrics into a song and make the words flow. Proud to call Bob a fellow Ozzy (Australian that is)

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "underrated".. i dont think I would use those words. he found success with MANY bands as a performer as well as sit in/session player.. thehman has gold and platinum records festoonong his walls.. But he is narccisistic.. thinks its all about him.. Ozzys blizzard of Oz was at the right time and right place.. BOBO the clown could have taken daisles place and the record would have still sold a zillion copies... I like Daisley, dont get me wrong... he just aint that sack of oranges, some twizzlers abd a bag of chips he thinks he is. Ozy and Randy was the talent.. daisley was homely looking.. hence Sarzo getting the gig.

    Bob Daisley was the the master mind behind those records no doubt!
    And with Randy Roads on top you had a Killer combo!
    But he was screwed of his credits(Just as Jake E Lee, Phil Soussan etc)

    It still boggles my mind that Bob would get walking papers after writing both of those first two albums with Randy.

    • @octobersun221
      @octobersun221 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True…yet they begged him to write on the next few albums! Ozzy seemed to like to only sing lyrics from Geezer and Bob.

      @1970borntorun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're insane dude. All Bob wants is to be fairly-treated and compensated for what he is rightly entitled to. Would you like to work 40 Hours next week and have your Boss say, " Well, you know Mike, I'm just gonna pay you for 29 Hours this week instead of 40! " Yeah. I didn't think so.

    • @lanceraustin
      @lanceraustin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ Daisley has been cashing writing checks from Ozzy for 30 years because he wrote the songs. He is seeking performance compensation because he played on them.
      Pull your head out, pal.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lanceraustin Your preaching to the choir.
      I know this... But what YOU may not know is that Daisley was demanding "performance royalties" for shows he did not perform in.
      He still got his royalty checks every time the song was played live or on radio and each unit sold in stores.. But the money he was demanding was ridiculous.. So your in the ballpark with your comment.. They dragged the osbournes thru court for decades and eventually lost and case sealed with the judge giving Daisley a nice lecture urging him to stop with the "unhealthy obsession with Ozzy's success." Besides, Daisley went on to be hired by Oz to help write lyrics and baselines for other albums in which the songs were pretty damned solid tbh.
      You and I can be friends... we share pertinent info and could compliment each other.

    Without Bob DAISLEY, there wouldn't be a 'Blizzard Of Ozzy'; 'Diary Of A Madman'; 'Bark At The Moon'; 'The Ultimate Sin'; 'No Rest For The Wicked'; or 'No More Tears'. Like John Paul JONES in LED ZEPPELIN and Jeff PILSON in DOKKEN, Bob is the MVP in OZZY's illustrious solo career. It is a fact that Ozzy OSBOURNE owes his solo career to Randy RHOADS and Bob DAISLEY.

      @1970borntorun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry, I like Ozzy as much as the next guy as a Rock Icon, but you need to face the facts. Ozzy is NOT a musician in the slightest, and Black Sabbath, by the time they folded, were a shell of their former greatness. So to assume Ozzy would have sold on his name alone is giving Ozzy WAY too much credit.

    • @rodneylee4026
      @rodneylee4026 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      197Oborntorun, you are totally clueless. I suppose you consider someone who can 'parrot' a classical great such as Beethoven on the piano with perfect technical ability a REAL musician. Or, someone who can name all the intellectual parts of a song while it's playing a 'real' musician?

    • @1970borntorun
      @1970borntorun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      white bird I don't know why you're getting so defensive over Ozzy. I gave him respect as a Rock Icon and think he has been fairly creative over the years, but I wouldn't exactly classify him as a Musician. If it wasn't for Randy, Ozzy probably wouldn't even be in the music business, post-Sabbath.

    Great interview Brian Sword!...Ozzy and the greedy home wrecker Sharon Arden, won’t ever credit Bob Daisley or Lee Kerslake on Diary of a Madman, because those first initial Ozzy albums, are the only noteworthy salable things, that Ozzy really ever achieved outside of Sabbath, because the aging masses of metal fanatics, are not really checking for anything else Ozzy even did later, while beating dead horses and mailing it in, there are a couple things, in the fast lane on Bark at the Moon, but everything else Ozzy did later ever pales in comparison to the initial two Ozzy albums, plus the live Randy Rhoads Tribute album released in 1987? Not withstanding Bob’s Daisley’s unreleased Holy Grail Blizzard of Ozz material...
    Bob Daisley does real justice to Randy’s reputation, we’re Randy is merely a sacrificial footnote sideman when Ozzy rewrites history to tell the half of it. Bob Daisley doesn’t receive nearly enough of his long overdue credit as a world class lyricist! Those first two Ozzy albums in particular were written, lyrically for a sensible adult audience. Too many songs in the heavy metal genre, consist of basic throw away gimmicky doom and gloom lyrics in general, seemingly written for an audience of sexually frustrated teenagers. I wouldn’t put Bob Daisley on Jim Morrison’s, John Fogerty’s, Bob Dylan’s or Bob Marley’s lyrical level, yet what Bob Daisley has accomplished lyrically, on those initial two Ozzy/Blizzard of Ozz Randy Rhoads album’s I grew up with, has been the soundtrack of my life, and there is tangible in the messages. I’m a fan of early Metallica’s thrash, and I sing along to all Metallica’s lyrics about war or James Hetfield’s dead mom or what not, yet Bob Daisley’s lyrical message threads running Blizzard and Diary, solidly stood the test of time, on a whole other level of musicianship entirely, adult contemporary hard rock/heavy metal, lyrically befitting of timeless music, that left a high water mark, on the paramount peak of the mountain top of heavy metal!... -“Why don’t you listen to my words?”...8)

    People like Sharon always blow my mind, she fits in with Don Henley, Frey, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Sting, and many many others who are adhere to, rub shoulders with, and she preached it everyday on her show (and also ironically one topic she was "against" supposedly was bullying - as she bullied everyone, even to throw chickens at a neighbor or eggs at Bruce Dickinson) the democRATS idealism in this country and "social change" and their classic liberals who embrace this "hate the rich mentality" or oil money (and I'd bet they ALL are heavily invested in oil through their investments through accountants) while they do EVERYTHING to gain more money get more power, screw people over - hell, Henley actually led an organization to fight for giving artists their due, as he's literally doing everything he can do with his army of lawyers to screw Felder over when all Felder ever did was sign a good contract and when Felder called them on it, they wanted to screw him out of his contract - I believe anger and resentment killed Frey - turned his guy inside out and ate his guts up, and anyone who watched the documentary can see this STILL ate him all these years later as if one could ask "Damn dude, HOW MUCH money do you really need?"
    But they fly around in carbon spewing private jets, own , many mansions that leave an incredible carbon footprint all over the world, drive around in caravans of limos and SUV's, and so on.......total tools and hyporcrites who like all socialists, in that socialism is for those who work FOR THEM, not actually for themselves. Socialism is for everyone BUT the socialist.

      I understand your surface observation, but you would have to read Bob's book to know & understand him and his way handling things. Most bass players are laid back & easy going & are not aggressive confrontational people. Michael Anthony would be another example of this.
