    Thanks for the great video. I'm a hobbyist photographer and have come to believe that people often long for some new lens, body or other piece of kit. But they also often believe they need to go somewhere to take beautiful pictures.
    I live in San Diego and shoot wild parrots, pelicans and shore birds quite often. I often see the exotic birds from other countries and don't always appreciate how lucky I am to have the birds I do.

    from some of the purist birders occasionally, and sometimes

    I don't use teleconverters, I despise them "just get closer to your subject", shoot a D500 and D850 "with the grip"with the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 and Sigma 500mm f4 sport, the Sigma 500mm f4 sport is a beast at a fraction of the cost of the Nikon variant.

      Is this Nikon? Can you explain more fully?

    • @JimUSNY
      @JimUSNY 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just saying the Nikon 300MM PF focuses very close, in the Video Artie was saying how far the close focus distance is with the Nikon 80-400MM at 7 feet, Compared to the Canon 100-400MM.. The Nikon 300MM F4 PF is closer than that with a 1.4X converter and is 420MM F5.6, with about 40 inches minimum focus distance

    Go to the B&H TH-cam channel and watch Arties video when he is talking about the Canon 1dx after it first came out. He said he took 2500 shots of flying birds and they were all in Focus so he deleted half of them so he didn't have to process them. Not sure why he feels the need to lie about Canon

  • @forsterl.stewart414
    @forsterl.stewart414 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The user interface on Canon rocks. Nikons functions are buried. Canons focus lock leaves a little to be desired....I'm from old school pre auto focus when all cameras and lenses were manual focus so I don't mind small flaws in a.f. and I don't need 12 frames per second for peak action capture photography and still get scent photos sharp and precise action....that's how good I am. Canon has fewer breakdowns in field. Nikon wouldn't clean fog between rear screen and glass cover of a d5. Nikon service stinks.Canon if you have a problem they will cover it. In the 80's my Canon led viewfinder display went out and today it still works after repair. Bought the Canon a1 in fall it 1978. Use what ever your comfortable with....its not the tool its the photographer that makes a great image. The camera is just the tool that captures it.

    • @Understandphotography
      @Understandphotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are probably like me - I keep my cameras and invest in lenses so it's tough to change. It seems many people switch camera manufacturers every few years. That's an expensive way to go! I find Canons easier but some people really like their Nikons, Sonys, Olympuses and Fujis!

  • @ianmackenzie8584
    @ianmackenzie8584 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The title is misleading. A lot of whining, some bragging, criticising other manufacturers, promoting his own workshops, at 50 mins we get some pretty basic stuff on camera/lens holding. Time wasted. Check out Gimpro's heads if you are serious.

    Canon a.f. works perfect for birds in flight. Sounds a little like a disgruntled ex employee. Or the man behind the glass doesn't know how to set up his a.f. for moving subjects. Just saying.

    Well, now Artie will have to pay for everything that he destroys instead of Canon fixing it for free.
    30 seconds into the video I already knew that he was going to mention something about becoming a Nikon ambassador. Artie's biggest problem is that he is always looking for a free handout from a corporation but if you want something from him you have to pay through the nose.
    He could learn a lot from Charles Glatzer.
