    Hi Mel, personally I don’t think there’s any difference between the pumps. An added plus to my noisy fuel pump is that the Mrs hates the sound of it and refuses to come with me during cold weather so a clicking sound is a small price to pay for what would otherwise be a much louder and annoying noise in the background for the entire trip😂

    • @BigVanSmallWorld
      @BigVanSmallWorld  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Haha, that’s one way to look at it! If your pump keeps the Mrs. at home, I guess it's doing its job! Enjoy those chilly adventures!

      @@BigVanSmallWorld as an afterthought, I drive a truck fitted with an erbespacher diesel heater and the pump sounds the same as the Chinese version. I would assume that the erbespacher pump would be German and of premium quality seeing as these heaters are £1200 new. So mabye we are looking too deeply into the whole noisy pump scenario. Over the years I’ve driven many trucks fitted with webasto and erbespacher heaters and the pumps all make clicking sounds not unlike the Chinese ones.

      @@andrewcrowe164 the green top (plastic) pumps are definitely quieter, I don’t think the integral filter versions are the same. I believe some companies are jumping on the bandwagon and just adding green plastic to the inferior noisier versions.

    Hi Mel. I cured the problem by putting the pump in a 300ml pop bottle and pouring mould making silicone round it. When cured I removed the pop bottle and had a pump encased in about 10mm of silicone rubber. As simple and effective as it gets.

    I bought a Planar 'silent' pump for mine, and it really does make a big difference. Previously my wife couldn't sleep with the ticking, now you cannot hear it once the blower is spinning. It doubled the overall cost of the heater, but £200 still good value.

    We have been running a Vevor chinese diesel heater in our camper for over 3 years, we have been considering a 'quiet pump' but having seen this, it seems they are louder than the standard pump, also notice you running red in your heater, surprised you dont run Kerosene / heating oil as at 70p a litre its a bargain compared to diesel with the same heat output, we have put over 700l through our heater without even changing a filter let alone servicing the heater. very good heaters for the money.

    @simplestuff3895 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    All these pumps are ‘dose’ pumps. They work by a piston moved via electro magnet triggered by the current that pushes a pre-measured amount of fuel out of the piston chamber, along the fuel line. The piston hitting the end of the chamber creates the sound, so none of these will ever be quiet.
    Covers are no use. I’ve seen someone use a microcontroller to change the voltage delivery to the pump, via pulse width modulation. Not sure how successful it was.
    The alternative is a pressurised fuel line and injector with a return feed to the tank. They don’t exist for diesel heaters.
    What seems to help however is increasing the resistance of the fuel after the pump. This dampens the piston hitting the end of the chamber.
    Many instructions do state that the pump should sit at the lowest point of the fuel line and the heater should be elevated in relation. The higher the pump has to move the fuel, the quieter it gets. But never silent. This also mitigates the risk of heat transferring to the exit nozzle of the pump and melting the end of the fuel line, if using the small diameter type. (This is a common cause of an E8 error)
    There’s no silver bullet for these and putting up with it is about the best strategy.
    We can’t have everything we want in life 😊

    Remember, if comparing noise levels on TH-cam, go into the settings and untick the new “stable volume” option.
    Whilst this can be useful with lessor content creators who don’t manage their volume settings (not you obviously) it’s not great if it amplifies quieter content when you are attempting to determine different volume levels.

    I'm afraid they're not brand new. I've had them for over a year. And I have to say, it's potluck. Some are quiet, Some are not so quite. It still depends a lot to how you mount them. I personally always meant them from bungee cord. They must not touch any frame of. The heater or its container. or the sound will resonate or vibrate on container . It's particularly evident. In all in one heaters. Where the rubber holder is bolted to the frame. It exaggerates its noise. As none of my heaters are actually in mobile. Situations. It's easy for me to use bungee. There is a new hangar out. Again, the word knew isn't quite right. It's probably been out four or five months now. And it's a metal frame with a bungee sling. And for those of you that need to mount them to vehicles, I think this would be your best answer. But you do have another thing to contend with. That is. Waterproofing. The plastic or rubber? Molding that are supposed to silence Existing fuel pumps. Actually make them louder. And you shouldn't waste your money. However, you will always hear them on startup and really think they don't work. But once they settle down, they are definitely. A bit quieter than the standard pumps. But as I said before. Each one slightly different. I don't know why. But that is the case.
