you spend all your time learning your character’s optimal moves and frame data only to learn you need to do the same thing for every other character to have any hope at this game. very helpful guide to start

I am a mighty ruler and I don’t know shit about frames . I only know that kazuyas electric is 13 frames fast. Don’t know anything else about frames.

I played from Tekken 1 to 5....stopped at 6-7... picked up 8. And i still feel like iv learned nothing at all lol.

This is not the hardest part of tekken. This is noob stuff. Also, where he is telling you to " punish hard" (-15 on block or worse), he should be telling you to LAUNCH PUNISH. He himself is a scrub.

Great vid, sub earned. So many things like this in this game! I think Law’s 3+4, 4 is a great example of one that really gets the better of people until you realize you can duck the 3rd hit

-13 after second hit of that one so you can always punish after 3+4 with an i13, even if he commits to the last 4

This is super helpful. I'm King stuck in 15dan and I always get knowledge checked esp by Drag, Paul, Law, and the momentum is never on my side.
I also have a hard time knowing where to look at my opponent for countering grabs.
I like looking at the hand furthest from the camera

For Hwoarang, I have two rules personally.
1st rule is to never duck in neutral against him.
2nd rule is to constantly duck (limit test basically until you know his gaps) AFTER he begins his pressure. Especially after you block any mids. He has very few mid into mid attacks and almost always the mid will be followed by highs.
Now you can get blown up if he decides to start throwing out his launching mids from his stances, but often in red and below they are just spamming pressure. A duck with a simple down punch will stop him, or better yet a well timed while rising will full launch punish. So my defensive strat against him has worked well enough that I am in Flame Ruler now and don't think i've lost a single game to a hwoarang. I know eventually i'll match up against one that knows how to adapt more quickly and punish my ducks, but at least that is then forcing him to make an unsafe move selection that can be read/punished hopefully.

I'll add another rule: be careful retaliating after blocking his highs in stances. A lot of them are highly plus on block and are setups for counter hits.
Thank god for the replay takeover feature. I was able to understand Hwoarang pressure and flowcharts more in just one month of T8, than 6 years of T7.
I don't know, it feels like any hwo does mid mid to me ahaha
I've learned in replay that they are steppable... but is not easy to find the timing and with online lag...

King has two strings and none are spammable 😂
@@NineTails87 okay just drag and paul then. I was just listing characters I see all the time without thinking about strings or not.
Those characters dont really have too many abuseable strings. Drag and King are just OP in the current meta, and Paul is not string oriented

As a yellow hwoarang player, I have never used 1133. But I have used 4444 and got punished a lot for it. Some times I just stop the strong at 4 4 4, end up in RFF and do RFF shenanigans. Thanks for the video, looking forward to other char!
You know this gotta be series now right? Lol…but I don’t be feeling like doing practice mode with characters I don’t plan on using so I might check the strings/moves of other characters here and there. Leo is my main and Paul and Jin are like my fun secondaries so I got them in check then I got tired of Victor and learned his gimmicks and messed with Reina a bit cuz she looks fun to play(she is) but vids like this can really help out

Reina main here, to counter the 2 string you must jab after the first 2 hits to interrupt because the third hit is safe
Leo escapes detection yet again 🙏🤙
Additionally, from what I've noticed, after Victor's 'Crybaby Sophia', if you block the first 3 hits you can still mash a hop kick to catch him when comes back in from his teleport. At the very least that's what I do every time as King.

Ling has i14 launcher too. And Alisa has i14 50 damage punish which turns into a full launcher in heat.

I'm confused why in your build planner you changed the element of the traps to ice and lightning?
Could you do a guide for xiaoyu and Leo? Their playstyles are hella weird
Another not so fun tip: Prepare not to remember any of this besides maybe a few of these strings / knowledge checks your first go around. Several play throughs of this will be needed, but that’s okay. Also take these into practice mode. Tekken requires a lot of upkeep to stay sharp, as there’s a LOT to be learned
