    thanks for the video. I did mine today and it was pretty easy. Rarely does a product work exactly as stated in the directions, but this thing went super smooth and easy. I highly recommend this product

    I did this about ten years ago to my garage. It’s time to do it again. I will definitely give it a second coat this time around. You did a good job.

    • @JonaHanz-u2hix
      @JonaHanz-u2hix 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do two coats, apply a thin first coat without anti-slip additive. Add the anti-slip additive to the second coat and make a thicker coat. It gives a more uniform and compact finish if you roll the epoxy a second time after about three minutes. I've been doing these epoxy works for almost 10 years being the building maintenance guy of Mercedes Benz of Honolulu.

    Nicely done 👍🏽. What type of caulk did you use for filling in the contraction joints? Have you notice any cracks in those joints?

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used flexible paintable caulk. There are two cracks in the caulk that I can see today. They are at the closets point to the garage door. (6/19/21)

    So your recommendation is to put one coat down, let it dry, then do the second coat? So the flakes should be applied liberally on the second coat?

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chacko Thomas That is correct. Make sure to add the non slip additive to the second coat also or will be slippery when wet.

    hey man looks good. im wanting to do this in my three car garage. so when you say 2 coats. do you add the anti slip to both coats or only to your second coat? also do you have to scuff up first coat before putting down second coat?

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I have read you only need to add the anti slip to your top coat, and you can apply the second coat after your first.

      @code3imagination441  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Dyer I thought of that also. But most of the walls are covered with shelves as of right now. The bare wall I do have will be covered with pallet wood.

    Nice work. Just have a question about the anti-skid additive kits. In which step that you add this into the epoxy? How was it?

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apply the anti skid to the last coat you are going to apply. Mix it in to the epoxy after you mixed the two parts together. It gives the floor a light sand feel to it. Not so much you will get cut up if you fall on it but enough to allow some friction when walking on. If you don’t apply this then when the floor get wet, loot out someone will have an accident.

    How is the floor holding up this far? I'm curious to see how it will hold up through a winter with the ice melt getting tracked in

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +dnewman83815 it has help up better then I thought. Now granted I only have one car in the garage because my truck does not fit and only store the vehicle in the winter.
      I do know it won't last after talking to others. On avg it may start to chip after five years so another coat will fix that. Have to say for what I paid it was worth it. At my fire station we got the professional epoxy floor and if you look at the two they look the same.

    How many gallons of Muriatic acid did you need for 2.5 garage ? What brand you used ?
    Also my garage is almost 540 sq ft. Is the kit enough to cover for the size ?
    Thanks for the good detailed video

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arun Dhavani-Mallan I got two gallons, that were diluted with water and had a little left over if I remember correctly. As to what brand it was, I can not remember but I picked it up at Home Depot.
      So you have a two car garage, the two car garage kit will cover that but I would recommend you get enough to put two coats on. What I used covered, but I can see in spots where one of our cars sits is showing some wear.

    You didnt mention anything about the the middle mark seam in the center of your garage floor. You can definitely see a difference in color where you overlapped the left side onto the right correct? Its darker?

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bass Slayer must be the camera and what you see on the screen. It is darker when it is wet, but I can tell you the color is the same on both sides. When you look at the floor right now you can not tell I did it in stages.

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you rub your hand on the floor can feel them, but keep in mind I also added the anti slip additive to the mix. If you don't add that to it once wet it is like ice to walk on, totally unsafe.

  • @kamesenLBC
    @kamesenLBC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not sure what to think. The instructions for this product state specifically not to use muriatic acid. In addition, you used a latex based product to fill in your concrete transitions. Latex shrinks over time and has flex even when new. You don't want either of those characteristics under your epoxy coat. A 2-part epoxy crack filler would have been the proper choice.

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kamesenLBC now I wish I remembered the brand of calk I used. It was recommended by several professionals to use before applying the epoxy. As of today have had no shrinkage or pull away from my calked lines. The epoxy has held up great after a couple of cold and hot seasons. Only have one small mistake. Spilled some gas (about six months after applying) and it did eat a little bit of this epoxy.

    • @kamesenLBC
      @kamesenLBC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@code3imagination441 Nice. When do you recommend the masking for the end of garage transition is taken off? Would appreciate your experience on that

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kamesenLBC I don’t know if you can see it, but I used a pencil to mark where the door rested on the concrete. I taped off the line after I flushed, dried, and cleaned off the floor.
      Also this was a new concrete slab, that was another reason it was suggested to me by a professional to use the acid to ruff up the floor a little so the epoxy would better adhere to the concrete.
