I was in Egypt in 1979 and only made it as far as the Aswan Dam. Went to the valley of the kings in Luxor and the Pyramids of Giza. I kinda regreted it not to make it all the way to the Abu Simbel.
I would think this is a perfect time to go to Egypt. You can expect low prices, no crowds, and friendly people happy to see you. There should be no danger at all.
I notice the guide didn't stated this information? The home of the Nubians... Kushite rulers were crowned as Kings of Egypt, ruling a combined Nubian and Egyptian kingdom as the Black pharaohs of Egypt's 25th Dynasty.
+John McCarthy Yes, they relocated the entire temple complex, which would have been forever flooded under 60 feet of the Aswan-dam-created Lake Nasser, and built a new artificial hill to contain it, a remarkable example of historic preservation and international cooperation. This is one of the greatest sculptures of all time.
