As they say,if you want to know the culture of the place you visit then go to the market.Tea,shisha, handicrafts, food etc.amazing place and people . love it
Don't think anything of some of these negative comments, I appreciate NOT seeing the tourist trap video's and I am Egyptian/Palestinian....Those that leave negative comments want to show Egypt's glamour...hahaha...when you find it, let me know....Anyway, thank you for the nice video.
Egypt is a lot like India. It's an very old city with a great history behind it. I was not impressed much with the city life but the desert is fascinating. And ofcourse the pyramids. I have never seen mountains like the ones in Egypt. It's a fascinating drive thru the desert one side the mountains and the sea on the other side. And at times thru the mountains. Those mountains really fascinate me. I'm trying to understand why they look like that. Very very interesting.
First thank you for publishing your video It was a bit amusing to see the different comments in here and thank God majority were positive Yes it's dirty and people should work together to clean or at least maintain such market as well as other many spots in Egypt and this is our long-term problem as it needs serious awareness to the whole society And yes we have that annoying tips issue since quite sometime Problem is people needs to be educated on ABC tourism and realize the fact that if you treat tourists right they will have positive impact and impression and for sure they will have the best word or mouth about their experiences What I really feel sad about is that we do have tremendous potential of all different attractions that could make Egypt number 1 tourist destination around the world but we just ruining it and the blame goes for both people as well as government In my own humble opinion it should start with education as once our children raised on good things it will stay with them all their lives and they will sure apply such in their lifestyle Egypt deserve better than this I always say Appreciate each and everyone's positive comment as well as criticism as both should help
Aww egyptians re so.friendly...is this market far from cairo? If i visit by my own it would be okay? I dont speak arabic at all but im quiet adventorous i wanna visit the local place hhh :)
+Wendy Bardales This market is in Luxor , which is far from Cairo about 670 k.m , you don't have to speak Arabic to deal with the people there at all simply case they already speak a ton of languages :D They are such friendly and kind , and I assure you gonna have so much fun in that adventure :)
+Magda Freeman go don't afraid because Allah says ادخلوا مصر ان شاء الله آمنين means by the safety of Allah you go to Egypt and don't care for those who try to damage our reputation
The Luxor market is divided in two sections: one for the tourists, with gift shops, and this part is kept quite clean; the other end is the local market, which I find far more interesting, and yes, their standards for cleanliness are different than ours, but that gives the place a lot of flavor and color, populated with very friendly people.
I dont speak of just this place I speak in all places there...Im going to Egypt in July...I cant wait to go but Im just saying people there need to work together to pick this up O.o dont depend on the government for anything...Seems they dont give a damn O.o

I was just there two weeks ago! It is truly a wonderful and beautiful city, and the people are welcoming. As a female, I never felt uncomfortable as everyone was so friendly. The history is unlike anything I have ever experienced (Temple of Karnak, Luxor Temple, etc.). I highly recommend staying in Luxor at least 3 days (I was only there 2 and it wasn't enough time!).
I was afraid to visit also, but I took the leap since it my dream. I was in Paris the day before the bomb in Coptic Cairo and it scared me even more, however, it is safe. The bomb was on the outskirts, not near tourist area. My driver just laughed when I asked if it is safe. I am here in Egypt and I am a single female. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Taxi drivers may charge you a little more, but you can negotiate the price with them first or hang out with an Evyptian. People helped me cross the street holding my hand. I even went to an Egyptian wedding with a man I met at Khan Khalili last night. He had 3 male friends he picked up; all very respectful and he brought me back when I asked. He asked for sex later, but I declined. It is safe and they have a law that Egyptian s cannot come to your room. Large hotels have security police with dogs. The hotel workers know who is staying in your hotel.
Delightful story, honest details, many thanks. Glad to hear they are as friendly as ever. This is the perfect, perfect time to visit Egypt. Danger much less than America...such wonderful friendly people, and must be good prices now with no crowds, GO! You will hear "welcome" everywhere.

Yes it's dirty and people should work together to clean or at least maintain such market as well as other many spots in Egypt and this is our long-term problem as it needs serious awareness to the whole society
And yes we have that annoying tips issue since quite sometime
Problem is people needs to be educated on ABC tourism and realize the fact that if you treat tourists right they will have positive impact and impression and for sure they will have the best word or mouth about their experiences
What I really feel sad about is that we do have tremendous potential of all different attractions that could make Egypt number 1 tourist destination around the world but we just ruining it and the blame goes for both people as well as government
In my own humble opinion it should start with education as once our children raised on good things it will stay with them all their lives and they will sure apply such in their lifestyle
Egypt deserve better than this I always say
Appreciate each and everyone's positive comment as well as criticism as both should help
