You both have really inspired me. I am much older and a slave to working the grind all my life, but prior to discovering your videos I have chosen to sell my house (currently I am in the middle of making all repairs on house) to help me to work less and put funds toward fixing up our 24 foot Eastward Ho. Our dream is to live on it and sail many adventures on it. I am working my way through all your steps and what a wealth of information. Thanks for sharing your adventures and all the helpful hints on repairs! Sail on!
Yeah, we saw SOOO many cruise ships between Freeport and Little San Salvador. We felt a little bad for them, their stays were so short. I can't imagine only having a few hours on an island as beautiful as this. Although, after a rice, beans, oatmeal and fish diet for the last few days, we often lusted after the all-you-can-eat buffets onboard. AND a hot shower.... But that's the price you pay right?
I was in Haiti about year after the earthquake. Our Host, Marc Brice is an inspiration. We found the people there to be loving. I keep hoping I can go back some day.
The only sign you left was the temporary circle in the sand from your dingy spinning around. Love you guys. I am considering learning how to sail because of you.
Saw the weather/hurricane and when it mentioned Hati the first thing I thought of was Uma and crew. Sounds like its time to batten down the hatches and deploy that heavy duty anchor! Good luck and keep us posted!
I recently found your channel and I'm slowly catching up on your past adventures. I found it amusing to see you both indulging and enjoying camping on that little island in the Caribbean while a huge cruise ship was passing in the background. I'm sure cruise ships have their importance for many travelers, the two of you have a real 'down-to-earth' feet in the sand experience and unforgettable memories. I also loved the creative game ala Beer Pong!
Great job team! What a fantastic story about enjoying the simplest things in lfe, with each other, in paradise! So jealous!!!!!!!!!................................soon!Keep em coming guys.
I have to salute Your courage. Not as much the sailing as Your courage to not buy that couch. So many of us are slaves of our couches (houses, cars, stuff), instead of living a simpel life of enjoying and exploring the little but very really important things in life. Hat's off, You did it! See You in Denmark in 2020
Hi guys, Always nice to follow your adventures.. as from the beginning i'm a follower and .. a starting live-a-board as well. Recently sold my house and starting to change to my boat. (still a little problem in where and how to register :) Can i Ask you guys, The music you played while preparing your dinner, who was the performer.. really a lovely song. Keep on the good life and.... take the muscito's for a extra treat from nature :) :) :)
Thanks for following:) Great to hear that you are also keeping the dream alive. The song is called: In Our Hands by Sebastian Forslund (Epidemic sound)
Take your time my loves!!! enjoy what life have to give you!! You are an amazing couple !!! I will see what this beautiful place called Earth have to give us through your eyes!!!! Thank you !!! CHEERS!!!
You are having an awesome adventure. I'd love to do it as well. I am wondering though... how long can you motor with the electric motor? Should you increase your battery life?
+Gary Dobbin For now, not long at all. Maybe 4-6 kts. Bigger LiFePO4 battery bank is on our wish list for sure. But for now, we work with what we've got and don't let it stop us from moving forward.
Hi love your series. Just love it. That said I am confused on flagging and customs rules so I have a couple questions. First is don't you have to fly a courtesy flag? And subsequent to that a quarantine flag until you have checked in with Bahamian customs? Second part to this would be are you not supposed to remain under quarantine and not go on Bahamian soil until you are actively checking in with customs? Cheers and have fun! :)
Just getting caught up to where you are at now. Love your videos. Concerning your sail through the Bahamas, where did you clear customs. If you said where then I missed it.
Hey you guys! Great vid. I'm gonna order a solar stove today and start practicing. Kika, how did you get beaten at a game you invented? lol. As soon as you can, you should get some breadfruit to cook in a fire on the beach. I'm sure Dan would like those. I hope you guys are still cruising by the time My family and I get out there. It would be nice to bump into you guys somewhere. Cheers!!
+Michael Samuel Bread fruit sounds good. We'll have to try it sometime. Don't forget to use the code "SailingUma" to get $25 off your stove! You'll love it!
One thing I have heard on other sailing channels is "We have to be in by , and we are little behind schedule." I've wondered 'why the hurry.' Obviously, there are provisioning concerns occasionally. But really, shouldn't sailing be "time to spare, use the air."
Wow, You guys have done some great things, REALLY. I have watched you from your beginning and you are doing great. I liked the sand game, Delos could do the same, so if it does not have a founders name, you better create something now, Great funny video, I cannot wait to see more of your travels. Thanks for sharing
i gave this video a like.:) your both so cute and likeable, ive been a subscriber since almost the beginning, please let us know how the electric motor is going? would you recommended your set up or would you proffer a diesel hybrid?
Do you even bother to read other comments before posting? Because if you did, you'd know they checked into the Bahamas at Freeport. And why should they have to show or talk about it every time in their videos, just to keep Keyboard Kops like you happy? And while we're on the subject, why do you assume they're both idiots? One's Canadian, one's Haitian.. and yet they've both spent several years in the US, and at the time this video was made, Kika had been travelling to/from Haiti at least twice a year for several years, sometimes along with Dan. Do you REALLY think they'd have gotten this far without having learned the rules about clearing in and out of countries? Perhaps you ought to take a good hard look at yourself and your own assumptions.
Your leisurelypace is very comfortable. I kept waiting for you to MacGyver the autohelm belt with epoxy/5200 in the 'gosun' cooker and then 're-file' the grooves. HaHaHa. I hear delivery captains rave about CPT brand autopilots or maybe you'll rig up some blocks, lines and bunji cords for 'sheet to wheel' steering so you get more rest...I'm almost up to date on your vids...
Sounds great, but you use chain on your electric motor, so perhaps that might be an even better lightweight alternative than 'belts' for the future. I know one site has about 10 videos on how to completely rebuild/refurbish the ST4000 autohelm. Just a thought, SAIL SAFE AND ENJOY...
My Compliments! you know how to bring class to camping! I am going to check out Gosun looks interesting, looks a lot better than other solar ovens I have seen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~__/) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beautiful video, beautiful smiles, your happiness reaches me so thank you for sharing it! But please, never put lemon nor vinegar to cook in aluminium foil, it will dissolve heavy metals in your food, and that's very bad for your health. Love to you both.
Sorry M8's but I don't do FB and Tweeting is for the Birds so.....Keep a Weather eye out, Tropical Storm Matthew is crossing the Windward Islands around the St. Vincent area and is projected to Intensify and turn north passing between Haiti and Cuba and proceed north through the Bahamas by early next week as a Category 1 or above Hurricane. Time to think about seeking shelter on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic (North or East coast of Hispaniola). I'm sure you're getting weather warnings, but (swithches to his Ben Gunn voice) cover the bases says I. F.W.F.S.

Liked the contrast of the life u are leading versus cruise ship in background.
That wasn't lost on me either... and I wonder who was more free to do and live as they wish?
Yeah, we saw SOOO many cruise ships between Freeport and Little San Salvador. We felt a little bad for them, their stays were so short. Almost 2 years since this episode, still the best one imo
Living life at a pace you've chosen allows for days like this one.
Love the floppy hat! The ocean gave me a sweat shirt once. Way out in the middle of nowhere, just floating on the surface. Still have it... 👕🌊
Great episode. The crab in the firelight...beautiful. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Hehe, that crab hung out with us almost all night. He had friends too, but they were much more shy.
I was in Haiti about year after the earthquake. Our Host, Marc Brice is an inspiration. We found the people there to be loving. I keep hoping I can go back some day.
home brew..... Thats getting Delos stile :) Love it
This movie deserves an Oscar! In all categories!
I love this channel!! Come on everyone let's get this to 1 MILLION subscribers!! Looks like I have a mission.
I just saw episode 2 hundred and something where you explain the hat story! But i had to go back to the start.... i need to catch up!
Good luck and keep us posted!
i kove the bit abuot observing learning and sharing
Fantastic campfire cooking. Well done you two. What a magical moment on shore in a beautiful place. Fair Winds Uma

You guys are the best, wish you fair winds.
Yeah, great episode!!! You guys need a set of Petanque balls, a perfect game for the beach or almost everywhere!!
Beautiful video of a beautiful place! Really glad that all your hard work has paid off and you're getting to enjoy some days of fun :-)!
Way to go. i enjoy watching how you just take your time and feel the sun on your face.
your best video by far! Nice little slice of paradise you found
Wow!!! You guys are the funnest ever!!! Great vid, enjoy life and each other you two.
Very nice video. I really like the effect reversing the footage of the fire had.
Been binge watching all day great show
I like your wooden plates!
The Bahamas is so beautiful!
Good scouts you are with campfires. One word description of you two: Joyful
great vid guys. Looks like there are a lot of cruise liners around those parts.
My goodness....what a wonderful episode!
Thanks!!! We made the best of a "no wind" situation and had a blast!
You are living the dream! We want to be like you when we grow up. Rock that #sandyholes and #homebrew.
welcome to my island in the bahamas its nice to have you guys
Great location--well deserved--looking forward to the next video!!
Looks so good, dreaming to do this one day!
A great video, I really enjoyed watching , thanks.
That was fun. Thanks for letting me come along.
God job with the fire man. Usually it takes people several try's before they get that without gasoline.
The crab sitting by the fire is hilarious. Lol. Great day at the beach. Loved it.
yes it was funny. They were a couple of them curious about that fire, they all would get as close as they could and just stood there
another great video keep them coming

Holy Cow!!!! You just killed that coral!
UMA Beach Pong... Love it
Like isn’t enough, this video needs a ❤️ button!
Thinking about how to describe this one. Charming. Yep, charming.
Great Episode! Life happens serendipitously... Food from that Go Sun Stove looks so good - how long does it take to bake the loaf?
Great video!!! You two are living my dream =) Safe Journey!
Hope you guys were able to watch Chasing Bubbles!!
thanks for another great video
I love you guys.
That food looks good!
It was ;)

Beautiful .
just a quick trick. Don’t cover embers with sand as they will burn for a long time. Scatter them and they will butn quickly. So enjoying your series.
We didn't show all of it. But we dumped about 10 gallons of water on it first. It was basically a puddle before we covered it.
One of my favorite videos from you two :D
Great upload, everyone loves a camp out and camp fire cooking :)
note the large cruise ship in the background at 2:03.
they are everywhere!! :O
Great video...just love it
Ok. Noted. What about it?
cruise ships don't surf or sail
Just getting caught up to where you are at now. Love your videos. Concerning your sail through the Bahamas, where did you clear customs. If you said where then I missed it.
Freeport. But we didn't film it. People made such a fuss about not showing it that we started showing checking in in our vlogs now.
Nice! Keeping it simple...
Yep! You're doin it right!
Hey you guys! Great vid. I'm gonna order a solar stove today and start practicing. Kika, how did you get beaten at a game you invented? lol. May I have the link that you recommend? Thanks.
Just type it in the "Discount Code" section at check out. www.gosunstove.com
My Gosunstove was delivered today. Now time to learn how to cook with it. Thanks again.
Best looking cruising couple on youtube. :D
:)
Cool stuff!
Are those whoopie slings on your hammocks? 👍🏻
One thing I have heard on other sailing channels is "We have to be in by , and we are little behind schedule." I've wondered 'why the hurry.' Obviously, there are provisioning concerns occasionally. But really, shouldn't sailing be "time to spare, use the air."
I was asking the same thing, why hurry. I think this is why i am busy binge watching Uma because they are just a time of their lifetime.
Wow, You guys have done some great things, REALLY. I have watched you from your beginning and you are doing great. I liked the sand game, Delos could do the same, so if it does not have a founders name, you better create something now, Great funny video, I cannot wait to see more of your travels. Thanks! You should share the game with them and see if they'll play it!
Well done!
Hope you guys are OK, after Hurricane Matthew!
Shopping list: Mosquito netting, and aeroguard (bug repellant) Maybe also some mosquito coils.
Yes! We just bought some coils here in Haiti. Usually on the boat, we don't get any bugs. But when we go to land, we get swarmed.
ps: they make hammocks with mosquito nets for camping :)
i gave this video a like.:) your both so cute and likeable, ive been a subscriber since almost the beginning, please let us know how the electric motor is going? would you recommended your set up or would you proffer a diesel hybrid?
We like our set up. But, it's not for everyone. We talk about it a lot more on our website at: www.sailinguma.com/electro-beke
Did you ever clear customs out of the US or into the Bahamas? I hope so. If not the penalties are severe.
Do you even bother to read other comments before posting? Because if you did, you'd know they checked into the Bahamas at Freeport. And why should they have to show or talk about it every time in their videos, just to keep Keyboard Kops like you happy?

+donjvalley Ha! There may be a limit to our skills! You'll be glad to know, 2 new belts have been ordered. They'll be here before we depart for Cuba.

Great vid guys. Loved the winners happy dance... ;-}
Love you too,
Two*
Dude you got yourself an incredible beauty to sail with. Kika is pure eye candy.
Amazing
love this
nice stop
great vid guys, cant escape the cruise though ,lol
They were EVERYWHERE!! One night, while sailing, we saw 7 go past us! Plus cargo ships. It was nuts!
I've given so many things to the ocean! All it's ever given me back is happiness. Guess that's ok. :)
That is the best gift!
If I ever have any money to spare on Patreon would rather give it you two down to earth couple than the guys with the MILLION DOLLAR YACHT
Awe.... Thanks!
Awesome
I love the bathing suits! But I feel like they wouldn't look good on me I'm too big:/ but your gorgeous!
My Compliments! you know how to bring class to camping! I am going to check out Gosun looks interesting, looks a lot better than other solar ovens I have seen.

+sailaway01 super cool. and because we love you guys. if you add the promocode SailingUma at checkout you'll save 25$ ;)
What song is that playing as you're opening up the foil? Can't find the name anywhere.
+John Alulis its called in your hands by sebastian forslund ( from Epidemic sound)
where did you get your wind forecast at?
With no wind did you have any no see ums?
YES!!!! But only onshore. None on the boat. Which was nice.
That is good to know! Love your videos!
Beautiful video, beautiful smiles, your happiness reaches me so thank you for sharing it!
But please, never put lemon nor vinegar to cook in aluminium foil, it will dissolve heavy metals in your food, and that's very bad for your health.
Love to you both.
Anyone know what the song is that's playing during the campfire?
+arcanus55 in your hands by sebastian forslund (on epidemic sound)
Do you remember what the name of this island is
+Bob Marley Little San Salvador.
That crab 👀
The trick to cooking a tin foil dinner is to use double wrap of tin foil with coarse salt between layers. Food won't stick to tin foil then.
Dan, whenever you say "Bahamian" it sounds like you are saying "Bohemian". I'm going with the latter!
How hard is that GoSun to clean?
Easy. It comes with a cleaning pad that screws onto the end of the cooking tray. Soak and scrub, super simple.
