Very much enjoyed hearing about the ‘unknown’ or smaller bike companies. Any chance in doing a special, probably one focused on road and one focused on gravel, that highlights niche manufacturers only, who they are, what they build, where they’re from etc? For example, I’m looking at a gravel bike, but don’t necessarily want to get straight into Trek, BMC, Canyon territory. Thanks….👊
Not all 90s mountain bikes were iconic like those ones. My cheap 90s mountain bike was very similar to my current cheap gravel bike and I use it for similar types of rides. My decent 90s road bike is still my current decent road bike - well, the frame, headset, seat post, and the blue anodised chain ring bolts are: the rest is trigger's broom.
About the first comment of the week: yes there are bikes for every budget, except for the budget for top of the range everything from not so long ago, today that is budget for entry level...
29:00 The bike has an inivitive bottle cage where the bottle mounts directly using magnets; called "Fidlock". i have used them before and they are great
$24,000 for a bike? Lemme put that in to terms which the target audience of these bikes will easily understand: That's 2 root canals and one porcelain veneer.
the speciality drink of Frankfurt is "Apfelwein" best accompanied by another Frankfurt speciality "Handkäse". PS. Leather trousers are best kept for when you visit Bavaria.
I sort of hurt for Alex and Conor. Ollie at Eurobike in Frankfurt is a hard act to follow with the Hot Tech segment. Compared to everything in Frankfurt, what could be so hot about anything they have to say? 😀
Got to agree with Alex about the affordability of bikes. I recently replaced my 2014 Cervelo R5 with a 2023 Cervelo Soloist and would say the dollar value probably favours the Soloist because it came with the Reserve wheels. When I purchased the R5 in 2014 I still had to go out and buy a good set of wheels and tyres. That being said, the guy that bought my R5 was over the moon with the deal (steal) he got. Top end bikes have ALWAYS been expensive.
Just a suggestion 😊. New format needed for bike vault. It's the part of the segment where I tune out. It seems awkward when everyone votes for the top bike, it's gorgeous, and they criticize it for a "jaunty angle". Love the show! Keep up the good work! I watch them all!
I wonder what cables are integrated to the Ridley Kanzo Fast? Hydraulic brakes use hoses and Di2 uses wires. Are the cables integrated into the frame walls for reinforcement (like steel rods are integrated into concrete to end up as reinforced concrete)?
#askgcntech hey guys, I love them show. My question is: is there a particular reason why sometimes you don’t show some bikes from the bike vault? I posted mine 3 weekends ago but I didn’t see it on the show. Thank you
Businesses are in business to make money, plain and simple. If they can get the price they want, they will continue to increase their prices from there with clever marketing and "revisions and upgrades." The only way that will change, is if enough consumers stop buying bikes at full price. Of course, there are so many people willing to pay the exorbitant prices for a bikes that you'll have to 1. work harder to earn more money 2. save up longer or 3 buy used and upgrade as you go. We all have choices.
Eagle eyed conor, I've now installed ridenow tpu tubes in my dare, so nice equi height black valve stems and black caps.but wouldn't some nice red gcn bottles put the finishing touches to it, if only I knew where to get some??? .. but thanks for the super nice.. my first bike build.. 😊
Thanks, Alex, for your look at the gravel bikes at your Global Bike Festival, cool. And I wouldn't say modern gravel bikes were born from '90s mountain bikes, more from '90s Paris-Roubaix bikes with suspension, no? And those gravel bikes actually won Monuments three decades ago, something no mountain bike ever did. 😀
Remember when the bike vault was about nice bikes and not arbitrary bollocks about valves alignment and where the bike was leaning? Those were the days! Snark aside, it was nice when it was more about shared enthusiasm on people's bikes rather than a nit picking contest.
That ‘Forwards’ gravel bike is the same as my On One Freeranger, but they’ve added £1k to the price. I paid £1799 in 2022 for sram force carbon spec build
Lol it's Shimano so it is only worth a hundred pounds lol. There are only two types of people in the world, those that ride Campagnolo and those that want to lol. Keep up the great content team and let see who takes the bait on the comment lo.

@@cjohnson3836 I thought I might be the only one……but clearly four people (see above) agree with me. BTW, I am not bored with the bikes alone but with the entire gravel nonsense. I am a road cyclist and I bought my first Canondale mtb in 1991 on my return from the Gulf War. I still have it.

How about videoing a ride of your own and have that put up on a screen when doing an indoor session? To me that would mean more than mere graphics. Actually can't stand the graphics used on Zwift etc. I want a real view.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It made me laugh out loud and I appreciated that it wasn't repeated ad nauseam like the UCI reach arounds.

What bit of tech from Eurobike has caught your eye? 👀
Definitely the pretzel.
Of course the quality Swedish rack.

Week 15 of asking for a ‘The UCI has no jurisdiction here’ T-shirt
Hang in there 😂
Updoot from me, would buy
The UCI impounded their inventory of shirts
Perhaps the UCI has restrictions on UCI jurisdiction. #conspiracy #UCIcontrollsall

Those Trigon wheels are super hot, they have the added innovative feature of automatically avoiding all potholes and road cracks.
yeah cuz youll never get em on the road since theyre hookless
thanks guys. i had an absolutely crap day and this video made me laugh out loud, several times. really needed that. i owe you guys a beer.
glad to hear it!
Thanks for the super nice on Theseus with the pink bar tape!!! There are little cages but I went with fidlock bottles
Thanks for submitting it! 👌
29:00 Connor those are fidlock bottle holders! great for that super clean look
was about to comment this lol
The commentary on the “$100” crank cracks me up 😂
Ollie ALMOST picked up that Thule rack... 💪
almost!
"I love a good rack," "sausages everywhere." Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣... Ollie sure knows how to joke around...
Was cooking tea when I heard Ollie say "I love a good Swedish Rack" - sprinted out of the kitchen and fell over the cat 😆
I love a quality Swedish rack too

That brake bleed kit looks more advanced than the one I use on my car….🧐
The fin on the TT bike is like to start air separation before it hits the downtube (Def seen that in F1)

There are kits for bleeding brakes and routing cables!? "It makes life easier". 😅
Just a few short years ago these were never an issue. 😂
Horses were pretty straightforward to service
Drinking on the job...I love it!
Connor.... The "bush" in the background is a Cotinus coggygria aka Smoke Bush, and you're right, in the world of horticulture it is a super-nice 😊
The Allied paint job reminds me of the faux stone hydro-dipped Giant ATX 760. I love that look.

Tried to find roller but could not is it available only in Europe

Antidentite?
Kudos to Forwards for admitting they use an open mould. Plenty of other brands do the same, but lie about it 👍

27:13 I think that's the first bike-vault bike I've seen in biggy-bigs. How do you even manage to do that?
Obviously Connor was sitting-in on this show right after having eaten....he had plenty of energy to burn (and sing)!!
I keep trying to upload a photo to the Bike Vault, but it never works. Any suggestions?
My 2015 AL Defy has a thin flat top tube, timeless design.
Anyone see Tarling’s National TT Chainring. Big boy, other competitors ran out of gears. It was a pleasure to watch live in the flesh last night.

too much of that local produce no doubt

Doesn't the pinarello f have the tear drop shapes on the fork dropouts? just facing the other way
They also have the same carbon fiber
I think the teardrop on the BMC was around 3 dimensions, rather than 2 like it is on the F

Lots if you couldn't care less about road bikes or Ollie going on for half a century about TT bikes.
I'll take that Fat Chance and Yeti ARC over any gravel bike. Cool factor is off the charts on those things.
Conor was on fire on this one 😂 Did anyone at GCN Megabase left some sugary snacks lying around ?
