I'm trying out Vallejo Game Color on Rogue Trader Neyam Shai Murad (Blackstone Fortress)

Today I paint the Rogue Trader Neyam Shai Murad from Blackstone Fortress Escalation and for the base coats I only use the colors from the Vallejo Game Color Intro Set (NOT sponsored by the way :D) and share my experiences on how I like to paint with these colors.

After trying out Vallejo Game, Vallejo Model, Citadel, ScaleColor, ScaleFantasy & Green Stuff World Paints, Vallejo Game Colors (with few exceptions) are my favorites in terms of quality and price.

how did you get the paint so opaque? i felt like i needed close to 6 coats before it covered. I didn't even dilute!

Did you thin the gold? I find it turns into a gloopy mess at the slightest water!

I almost never thin metallics - but I use a wet palette - but your right if you really thin it it gets reaallly messy

Toll mit earthshade hast du deine eigenen ambient occlusion gemacht kannst du mir sagen wie viel game color pro farbe ml du verbrauchts?

Ich kann dir die genaue ml Anzahl nicht sagen, aber es waren aus den Tröpfchen-Dosierflaschen jeweils nur ein kleines Tröpfchen, hoffe das hilft dir weiter 😁

Did you get to try the fleshy one in the set? I tried the one fleshtone but man, it looks straight up orange. Almost like peach

No I didn't get to try that tone, becuase I painted a darker skintone on her - but I might try it in the future - and will heavily dilute it before use, so maybe it won't turn out orange - thank you for your input!

I've heard different stuff about painting with a brush with Game Colour. Game Colour is supposed to be used in airbrushes, right? Can you tell me what how it felt to use Game Colour with a brush instead of an airbrush?

Overall it felt quite good - the colors have a nice flow/consistency and could be used right out of the dropper bottle on a wet palette and did not need to be watered down - the only to colors, which were bad to use, were the metallic tones - gold and silver, live others already commented under this video in length

Game colors are intended for brush use. Game color air is intended for airbrushing.

Sieht das resultat nur mit citadel farben gleich oder besser aus?

Habe die Mini nur mit Vallejo bemalt, fand die Grundtöne wie Gelb/ Grau/ Braun sehr gut pigmentiert und das Gelb speziell besser als equivalente Farbtöne von Citadel (vgl. Averland Sunset) die anderen Farbtöne habe ich als gleichwertig empfunden - einzige Ausnahme: die Metallics (Gold/Silber) haben mir vom Farbton und der Pigmentierung nicht so gut gefallen wie ähnliche Farbtöne von Citadel (vgl. Leadbelcher/Retributor Armour) - ich hoffe das war hilfreich für dich :)

@@minimaltabletop vielen dank wenigstens einer der mir eine gute empfohlen machen konnte. Letztens haben die mir gesagt bio ethanol ist besser als ipa für 3d druck. Das hat leider nicht gestimmt. Jetzt muss ich nur diese zwei metal farben holen dann ist meine sammlung okay

Why use shades from GW? Vallejo shades and inks are much better! One tips give you use, Wet palette =)

I just tried out the Game Colour Set didn't buy Vallejo shades at that time, but I'm looking forward to trying them out! And I'm already using a Wet Palette, but thank you for suggesting it - It really is a Gamechanger and can't be recommended enough!!

Vallejo game color gold is terrible. The worst hobby paint I've ever used. It has the consistency of pancake batter, slides around on the primed surface and any attempt at thinning causes the pigment to flood everywhere and is a nightmare to clean off the model. I want to give the range a chance but I picked up the gold and gunmetal when my Lead Belcher and Retributor Armor ran out and it was a disaster.

I agree with your statements of those two vallejo metallic colors - they aren't very enjoyable to paint with - I still enjoyed the color tone but the consistency is reaaaally bad!

I've really been enjoying my Vallejo paints. The Model colors are more muted than the Game colors, so I've been told, but they're still lovely to use. The one caveat are the gold and silver. The gold is... okayish. I can get it to work but it certainly isn't as easy to to use as the other paints. The silver, on the other hand, I've found to be borderline terrible. It just does not cover whatsoever and when it dries I can barely tell the difference between it and the gray primer I use. My local hobby store sells a few GW paints so I went out and bought some Citadel Leadbelcher and immediately noticed a stark difference. Sure, Leadbelcher is meant to be more of a steel than silver but it goes on easy and looks great.
