Enjoyed watching the vid! A cheap/easy-to-produce game (e.g. PnP) for project 1 is a great idea. 🙂 I strongly disagree with TTS. I don't think designers need to use TTS. The mechanical/thematic dichotomy really bothers me. I agree that it's important to prioritise something, but that doesn't need to be within either of those two spaces. I like the idea of 'fixing' or remaking something you hate as a starting point if someone's looking for inspiration. Agree that you need to be willing to kill 'darlings' - it's about having those priorities and getting rid of anything that stands in that way. Scythe is a really weird mention for point 6. I agree you need to be willing for your projects (whether your first or your 25th) to be a failure though. We keep on learning and keep moving forwards. 🙂 All the best with your stuff!
hey Bez! thank you a ton for your feedback on the content! it's been a while since we chatted, I hope you're still doing well! I'm surprised you disagree with TTS, but I've heard that from some other designers as well! I personally have found and seen great things come of it, but also know many who never touched it and made great products. Also yeah Scythe felt weird as I was saying it in that context lol, idk why but I thought Scythe was his first published game, but I bet I'm wrong on that. Thanks again for engaging, great seeing your name in here!
my friend, you said nothing about self publishing your board game, you just talked about design tips for your game board games. Self publishing is the process to put it in the market without an external Publisher :( any way, there were good tips, thanks
Hey friend! I think in your comment you accidentally discovered the name of the video; this video isn't necessarily about tips for publication, but it's what I want people to know BEFORE they start to publish. I've seen so many people ask for tips and help for publishing board games when they make games that aren't necessarily even worth advertising and doing crowdfunding for. Before you publish, you need to have a viable product, and that's more so what this video is about. After I do our Kickstarter for Sock Pile (link here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/gamingcaravan/sockpile), I'll make a video for self-publishing tips 😊
Thank you so much for this.
You're welcome, let me know if you have any questions!

Where do I start to get my game printed? Let's say I have everything ready to go. Who can I go to print it?
The Game Crafter website, great for prototyping since you can order 1 copy.
I'll do a video on that soon enough! But the best tips I had was to ask this exact question on Board Game Design Lab on Facebook.
3d printer
Good tips
Appreciate it! I hope this helps you on your journey.
