You, sir, are the gold standard of tutorials!!! I was maybe using 50% of Filmic's functions til I started watching this series. Not just informative, but really well produced. Keep up the great work!
I couldn't say it better than Ed Hecht. totally impressed & thankful for your outstanding videos! BTW I'll be looking for info on using FiLMiCPRO with Rode Rec app; it's a bit tricky, so I hope you have something :)!!
Thanks for this great series. When using the Moondog lens, and the Moondog 2.40:1 adapter setting, what should my resolution be set to in the settings? Standard 16:9? Will it work properly under any other resolution?
Hi Alfredo. Thanks for the question. You will need to use 16:9 aspect ratio for optimum results, and the resolution doesn't matter (720p, 1080p, 4k all work perfectly).
Thank you for your excellent tutorials. When is the COVR Photo lens available again? It seems out of stock with Amazon. Also, is the lens quality ok? No watermark or blurry effect? Thank you for your help.
I have a question about using the beastgrip dof adapter. I'm having a hard time getting into focus. Is there anything in particular I need to do? For instance when using the dof adapter in still photography you first focus the camera on the focusing screen.
With the moondog Adapter are you stuck in a certain aspect ratio or can you change the crop source overlay ? I noticed that some DSLR users are getting the Moondog Anamorphic lens alongside Olympus’s 45mm lens (w/t 37mm thread). So I was wondering if it would be possible to get that lens, use it with the DOF Adapter and then attach the Moondog Adapter?
+Epic Tutorials for iPhone, iPad, and iOS awe man! Thanks a bunch. I really don't want to save to the camera roll and any resolution. Like you mentioned in one of your other great tutorials!!
I have a 37mm wide angle lens that fits on my beastgrip. It isn't the same thing as the Moondog product, but I am wondering, as far as Filmic Pro is concerned, should i turn that setting on? The images I get from the lens don't really seem all that different from the standard iPhone 6S+ lens. I wonder if those images and video need to be desqueezed as well.
I'm using the Filmic Pro app with the Moondog Lens but when I enable the setting, it will only apply the desqueeze while actually shooting. Not when viewing the footage in app or when importing the footage, although I haven't enabled the setting to only apply the desqueeze to the preview. I've been fixing the shots in post but would really appreciate any help.
Maybe you can help! No matter what settings I have it on in filmic pro with the anamorphic lens on, I am still only getting 3840x1624. Possible to get 2160? What settings?
So, if we're using the Moondog Labs lens, then we need be sure our FiLMiC resolution setting is on 16:9, yeah? Switching on the Moondog preset thing in "Hardware" doesn't do this automatically?
Correct Brian. You need to make sure you are shooting in 16:9 which can be selected under the Resolution settings. Switching the Moondog preset on does NOT do this automatically however, so always double check.
I see this post is a bit older, but I don't see the Encinema turtle back image flip option in my hardware settings. June 26 2017 download of filmic pro... clearly there have been some updates to the software in the app but I'm wondering is this no longer supported? I don't want on one back from your video I might be interested in attaching a DSLR lens in the future.
hi , problems with this app cause it stoles many gigabyte on my iPhone!! i took it off this app from my iPhone now,,, why this happened? apple support didn't t help me very much. i guess 7 giga lost just because i take a picture or a simple video !!!! help me please i have iphoneSE thanks!!
there's a features on FilMic Pro called "moondog anamorphic 2.40:1 adapter" when i press it on then it become wide and looks so weird , what happened with that features ? or because that features needed to combine with moondogs anamorphic 1.33x lenses ?
Totally up to you. For maximum reliability do it in post - then its one less thing for FiLMiC Pro to handle. However, I've never had any issues recently doing it in app.
i'm using moondog i took a vid clip and i want to save it on my phone but it says {RESIZING inorder to transfer file it will need to be resize] and when i click continue Nothing happens can you please help me wat to do please , even when i import it on my computer and put on premiere pro no video appearing jusn=t an audio wave please help me
hello , i've a question about filmic pro software with "moondog labs anamorphic adapter" , i use the moondog lenses for iphone 6/6s , when i turned it on and i turn on de-squeeze on the app inside why the result of the video still not perfect ? everything looks become thinner but i already put the lenses on my iphone and turned on moondog labs anamorphic adapter inside the app , i just wondering why the result still looks so weird. thankyou before. please , i need some guidance
Hi Andrean, Are you turning on 'Desqueeze Moondog Preview Only' under the Hardware Menu? If so, this only desqueezes in the preview so you can accurately frame your shot, but expects that you will perform this manually in your editor of choice. If you want to have FiLMiC Pro desqueeze for you make sure this is off. Also make sure your Aspect Ration under the Resolution Menu is set to 16:9. Please let me know how you get on.
THANKYOU SO MUCH for your guidance ! yes i did press the 'de-squeeze moondog preview only' before , then i just tried to turn it off as you said , then the result of video become normal and wider 33% with moondog anamorphic lens on my phone ! its works since i turned it off ! then i try to change the Resolution Menu into 16:9 then its become perfectly cinematic view and extra wide haha ! once again thankyou your guidance is so important for me ! cheers
Totally up to you. If you can do it in post I prefer this option, as it removes another potential point of failure as it saves FiLMiC Pro having to do any further processing to your recorded clip.
so which mean we do not need a Moondog Labs anamorphic lens while using filmic pro right ? because FilMic pro already give us Moondog Labs anamorphic features , am i right ?
+andrean octavius FiLMiC Pro allows you to apply a 2.39:1 aspect ratio which works by cropping your native 16:9 image via software. The Moondog Labs lens on the other hand is an actual anamorphic lens that gives you the real thing including the signature anamorphic lens flare which can't be achieved through software. The Moondog will give you a 33% wider field of view. FiLMiC Pro's aspect ratio presets will not.
before it , thankyou for your guidance sorry for bad english.. but when i tried to import my video that i made from FilMic Pro library to my iPhone library just now , seems like the resolution that i use in filmmic pro(2.39:1) didn't changed since i move it to my iPhone library. what should i do to fix this ?

Thanks Ed. That means a lot. Really appreciate it. More on the way soon 😀

Once more... Another great video!! Thank you!
Question, for can I download from the filmic app straight to a Mac or PC ?
Yes you can. The next tutorial will cover this. Out in 2 days time 📽📱

Hi Brian. Thanks for the question. No you wouldn't use the Moondog desqueeze option for a wide angle lens. I use one too with my BeastGrip - love it.

Great video!!
What is a great editor app and one that acts like a pc editor? THANKS
Pinnacle Studio Pro is the best editor for iOS. Kinemaster is the best for Android.
Here is an app store link to Pinnacle if you want to check it out: apple.co/2axQsG6
Thanks
Ok, so I shoot with Moondog Lens and Hardware enabled then I download and decompress in post, correct?

Can i use a different brand of anamorphic lens?

Yes as outlined in this video, it is designed to work only with the Moondog Labs anamorphic lens. You would never enable it without the lens attached.
+Epic Tutorials for iPhone, iPad, and iOS thankyou for your info. its really helpful.
You're welcome. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
Should I desqueeze using filmic pro or during post production?

I just bought the app. But I can't activate the Anamorphic Desqueeze.

The resolution won't change as you move it to your iPhone Camera Roll. It will be preserved.
:)
