  • Grab your Pepto-Bismal! Your burping says are over fellas. I snagged a OEM tools coolant system refiller kit, and it’s a game changer. I struggle with even the most basic instruments and I managed to get this on the first time… might not be for everyone, but dang this thing works.

That was the most stressfull coolant fill ive ever witnessed. I was waiting for the radiator to implode just like that stupid submarine!
Hopefully it works! Im getting pretty excited to see this rig finished up and driving on its own again.
    Your doing an awesome job!

Not going to lie, that creaking sound was freaking me out as well… should have some running and driving adventures coming soon. As long as everything goes alright.

The first time using a coolant vacuum refill kit is strange. You captured it perfectly. The creaking of the radiator and the collapsing of the hoses is nerve wracking. In the end, you don’t have to burp it so saves so much time.

It’s like a submarine ticking… nerve wracking stuff. I ended up still burping mine a bit, I imagine it was user error.

So glad to see you’re back working on rigs!
I’m the guy who bought your leaf springs, my project fj is in storage with the Cummins sitting in the back. I did just get my bellhousing adapter and motor mounts from quick draw. Hoping to start back working on it this fall! Keep up the great work! Jb

Man that’s awesome. I’ve been watching this company doing stuff with the 2.0 Tdi VW diesels… I know it’s lame but to me that sounds like a killer swap.

I bought one of them about 20 years ago when I did car a/c. Dug it out yesterday after changing the cambelt and water pump on my Citroen van. Worked a treat.

It’s a lot easier than I made it look. Which is saying a lot.

Your still going to want to burp them. We vacuum fill everything, but still end up burping all of them. It does help with keeping air pockets to a minimum and is way faster than just pouring it in. .

    • @projectwrongway9127
      @projectwrongway9127  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Crap! Really? I’ll have to burp it then. I will say the machine hasn’t overheated yet without burping, but I consider you a pro, with good advice.

@@projectwrongway9127 the heater on a 40 may be low enough that you won't have to. Newer stuff with higher heater cores seems to always need burping after.

you can save dollars by buying non-premixed coolant.... mix it in the bucket. Nice to see you have a suck enhancer. Another fun thing with those, because they create a vacuum - you can use it to pull plugs and not have the fluid escape (imagine putting your finger over a straw to lift liquid - same principle).

Man I did not think coolant was so expensive, and damn that system is thirsty.

So you have to drain the coolant before you do all this ? Or is this with coolant already in the system

It's a pressure system, so vacuum testing can be a false flag. Might make a good peen pump though, if that's your bag, baby. Perhaps, not a waste.
