Exactly. He did talk about his trauma regarding being surrounded by drugs growing up. He explained that is why he brings it up so much, so he needs to address it in therapy.
JM is very analytical. He likes to see the path that people take and you can tell he applies his knowledge from what he studies to everyday life. I don't think he always does it to pick fun or judge someone.

If not, they are indeed very fortunate or are in denial.
