no. its a thing called mediation. basically both parties agree that the "judge" has complete ruling and whatever they say is absolute and final. the judge solves disputes. its cheaper and quicker than actual civil court. TV court can be over and done with in 4-5 days from submitting case to filming. civil court can take months or even years depending on complexity.

So, if I only ask for five grand due to that being the limit, I risk getting a judgement for less than that amount. But if I list everything and ask for twenty-five grand, even if certain items are dismissed or reduced, I stand a good chance of being awarded the full five thousand.
