Try doing this speedrun on version 1.0 of the game on ps2. The ghost kill in one hit even with the chrome suite. It would be way harder. Anyways good run. I used to play this game all the time and thought I was good at it. But I've learned a lot of cool tricks while watching speedruns.
Would it be much harder? I think some things would have to be optimized slightly differently of course but I wouldn’t think it’d be anything drastic.
@@Gamesmarts194The ice physics are different. You can’t jump once you walk on the ice. You slide right away. Also b-doing woods had lots of small differences, and some different item layouts. You also start with 3 lives instead of 5. The chrome suit doesn’t last as long either, so that trick in Volcanic Panic I don’t think will work. There is a TH-cam video out there that shows all the differences. I have both versions for my ps2 (black labels) and the Gamecube version. There is no difference in the packaging/disc between the first release and the revised ps2 version so you can’t tell unless you boot up the game.

@@McKiddy Everything. From your commentary and the checkpoint right in front of the end it appears to be randomly generated and collectables have chances at spawning rather than them being set.
@@ac31048Every type of fruit in this level has a different spawn variation, Cherries will appear around, pipes mines and mine arrays, Oranges will spawn from the ghost submarines, and the apples will spawn around pipes. The tokens can spawn in many ways (From pipes & ghost/crab submarines.) However the game can decide to not spawn all of the collectibles that are needed to pass in 1 life. Death abusing can cause some of the collectibles to re-spawn but it's finicky.
@@McKiddy What about the level layout? I don't remember a checkpoint right before the end of the level.
If you die at certain points, some of the pipe and checkpoint spawns change, this is due to the games script file that generates the levels sections.
There must not be many people that speedrun this game it seems.
There's usually a good amount of activity when it comes to Any%. But the activity compared to 189 Tokens and 100% is much smaller since they're much more challenging and brutal to run.

I’m trying to speed run this right now 100% and all I can say is fuck blade mountain! Haunted boardwalk was also hard but more forgiving
