I recall watching this years ago. My kids, then teens, were asleep and my hubby was bowling. I didn't know this was a true story at that time. All I know is it frightened me like crazy and had me glued to the tv screen. Great classic.

It looks like the woman who was the subject of the original study had a long history of trauma And drug abuse. At the time she alleged the haunting was occurring she and her children were squatting illegally in a dilapidated building, if I understood correctly. It looks less supernatural, and more of the product of the fact that she was traumatized by her past, and perhaps mental illness if not PTSD as well. The paranormal investigator, who initially diagnosed the situation as a haunting worked for a Now defunct laboratory, he produced very little evidence, and had no outside corroboration of his findings. That is to say it was almost exclusively his word. It wasn’t anything like you might see on say ghost hunters where they would first try to rule out rational explanations and then proceeded to supernatural ones. Even if you discount the technological limitations of the day, investigation lacked significant transparency and objectivity. You can’t help but feel bad for the real life family because they were looking for help and it feels like they were being exploited by a guy who was out to make a name for himself.

This is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I have never had a jump scare like this moment. Along with the music which in of itself is absolutely frightening, This is an extremely underrated movie and I guarantee you if they had a rerelease of it today people would be traumatized.

Im 46 now lol I myself experience these kind of Events I wake up in the middle of the night by someone pressing my face or chest as they want to wake me up I also see shadow when I wake and open my eyes !!!😱 Definitely energy around us one of my best friends died I went to his house and fell asleep in his bed in the middle of the night and I saw a shadow standing in front of the bed as I wake up it disappeared... we are energy don’t forget this

I used to suffer from sleep paralysis with attacks from something unseen. Sometimes it hit me or prodded me, just in the middle of my chest. Fortunately it was nothing like as bad as what happened to the woman in The Entity, but it was a very difficult movie for me to watch, as it reminded me of my sleep paralysis. A kind lady priest at our local church helped me to get rid of that, through God's help. The Entity shows an extreme case scenario of what sleep paralysis can do. For fellow sufferers of SP I will say, try a sleep clinic or better still, pray, and seek help from your local church. Also, if you have sleep paralysis problems, DO NOT watch this movie.

People don't believe in demons and the devil but they do believe in God and his Angels. This movie shows that we are living in a world with good and bad. Excellent movie.

You have no experience with non physical entities, psychic phenomena etc. which does exist by the way, so how can you come to the conclusion that all cases of poltergeist are non existent if you don't understand reality fully to begin with?
I can relate it's called an incubus demon that she had and yes they can sexual hurt you and attack you in your dreams they are very vicious and cruel plus they can attack both male and female.
