Sometimes your muscles just want to be held 👉👈 Here are two common ways to train isometrics: Yielding Isometrics: Choosing to hold a position for time Overcoming Isometrics: Trying to move against something that won't move. Note that there are different terms. Some people like to call these "pin isometrics". Personally, I find yielding & overcoming to be fine, since pins aren't always involved. (These were commonly used in a power rack with a barbell - possibly how they got the name "pin isometrics") Some people have even said power racks were invented for isometrics! Both of these can be done with either weights or bodyweight. Happy to elaborate in future videos if anyone is interested! This video is part of my series on isometrics. Other parts talk about other aspects, how to train, etc. Thank you for watching! Have a wonderful day.
That's exactly what people saw 😂. I say hello to them as they pass and reassure them that the camera is facing the other way (so they don't end up on TH-cam unintentionally). Most people are very friendly about it!
That's honestly what happens sometimes! People are understandably wary of the crazy man trying to lift trees. However, when we're able to talk, I tell them about what I do and sometimes give them a free book. It can be a lot of fun and most people are very supportive after they learn about it!
Oh hell ! If were in a sour mood while walking through a park and I seeing him doing isometrics, his greeting and smile would make all my troubles seem trivial for the moment. And yes, I would join in too with him doing exercises. How could I resist a likeable, cheerful, good hearted person like that?😊
I like how he will often do workouts or get into difficult positions and barely be phased, but the first time I see a look of sheer focus on his face is when he gets into a plank position
Planks are rough lol, I know they're really good for you but damn if it doesn't hurt my feeling when I collapse after 30 seconds (it's mostly my back that screws things up, need to work that out more but it's more difficult when you don't have access to a pull up bar or sturdy tree branch)
@@FrisbeeGorbeh So that they grow to be heavier and he doesn't have to buy heavier weights. Kids are truly a life hack. They become heavier over time, as you're becoming stronger, so the weight never becomes too easy to handle.
The latest few videos actually made me do something for once. I can't do repetitive moves due to a disability. But these exercises where you just hold or use strength but don't actually move joints are perfect.
Hybrid Calisthenics, I can do 4 pull-ups now ❤❤ 22.03.2024: Guys my P.R. is 6.5 (couldn't reach chin above bar on my 7th rep). The Australian pull-ups is your best bet!

I really appreciate the fact that you’re always moving. It helps me hear the words better. Idky. I tend to remember everything you say the first time around
Hampton, I want to do much more isometric exercises, because they don't need a perfectly executed motion and often put less pressure on the joints, so this series is very much appreciated. Thank you!
I really enjoy isometrics, so I'll talk more about them! I feel like they're misunderstood dismissed as a fad. But almost every exercise has an isometric component! So they're definitely worth training, in my opinion.

This is, to date, my favorite short of yours! I do martial arts, and though I'm all about realistic self defense and actual pressure testing, I do like doing esoteric mumbo jumbo looking body control exercises. Going to the forest to hold a rock or lift a tree and calling it karate is smack dab in the middle of my alley! Also this is funny as hell. I love you!
Started your progressions. Wall pushups. Did like 3 sets of 50 first day. In the confidence that I used to do like 20 to 30 proper pushups in one set like an year before. Man was I wrong, I have become dormant. But I liked the progression, and the pain that came along😅. Thank you hampton.
Yielding iso's are one of the core ways to improve your grip strength! Whether it's holding a pair of heavy plates in a pinch grip, holding a heavy dumbbell in a farmer's walk, or holding a grip-strengthener in full close. Holding that contraction is just as important to building grip strength as the act of closing your grip -to- that contraction.
Reminds me of a rack we had in welding class made of solid steel holding other heavy objects made of solid steel, and everyone would try to lift it to show how strong they are.

I was JUST about to comment this when I saw your comment
Being called the Bob Ross of anything is the sweetest compliment honestly
Imagine Hampton fro’ing out his hair, growing a beard and saying “let’s move this happy little tree”
This js why I never do two trips when I bring in groceries, I'm actually just training isometrics and need the extra weight ☺️
