I have done quite a few of these events around our community at different venues. The results have been all over the place. Sometimes there are so many events going on around town that impacts turnout. Price point will impact turnout as well. Our town is lower income, predominantly retirees, so $20 seems to be the sweet spot. I buy lower quality supplies and gesso the canvases etc… to make painting less frustrating and the customers don’t seem to mind 😊 Also thinking outside the box for your customer base. I teach at a local recovery program that the director of the program has gotten grant $ for. It’s a win-win. It gives an outlet/coping mechanism for people in recovery and I love giving back. Best wishes on your endeavors!
Thanks for sharing your experience! I live in the Nashville, TN area, so there’s definitely some competition with other events. I’m gonna work with the time of the event first and then reevaluate the price if I need to. $50 seemed to work well at my last event. I would’ve never thought about doing events through charity program grants before! Thanks so much and best of luck to you, as well! 😊
I think they did so well! I feel like I’m really getting somewhere with these parties despite the low turnout last time. I have exciting things planned for 2025 😊
I really liked seeing the art the students made. They did great! Did you take pictures of the people too? I hope coffee shop owner has a board where he posts pictures of events that are hosted. People standing around waiting for coffees will look at them and get interested or tell their friends.
They did so great! And yes, I got some photos of the students with their artwork as well. He had a sign right by the cash register, but we could post one by the bulletin board, too, with the other community events!
Well it’s also time for the holidays, and money is tight. Could just be that also. Break a leg on the next try. I’m sure you’ll do better , just keep trying.😊👍❤️
Hello!! I used to do nanowrimo writing group every November at a local coffee shop near my college but i recently fell out of nano (for reasons) but i am an artist and this sounds amazing!!! Idk if anyone would do this where i am, but i think maybe a free event (if they provide their own stuff) because i feel like people are probably gonna get hungry from the great smells! Idk if this made sense, but this is a great idea!!!
Yeah it was still a great time! And thanks! The ikea peg boards are such a game changer and save so much space in my drawers. Plus things are just easier to grab. I’m going to do a studio tour soon!
Could I make a suggestion? And of course, you are the professional. I work in a different field. Because you were new to "them", I would have considered taking a loss of sorts. Just as a way to introduce the amazing work you do and the lovely food and atmosphere. I also come from a family of small business. And they make the world go around I would say. Perhaps, if you might fit one more in before the Holidays, you could also offer gift certificates to your next event? Let people know this is just a special you are offering price-wise, as you would like them to come back. Just an idea. I think the way you are looking at is, is also a positive way to think. I wish you much luck. I know you'll do great as always.
I appreciate your suggestions and I love the gift card to the next event idea! The coffee shop owner and I have reconstructed the payment plan, so they end up getting a bigger cut to cover their food and labor costs, which I think is totally reasonable. I want this to be a happy ending for both of us. Thanks for your suggestions 😊
Have you considered doing a FB Live, sort of like a Writing Group but instead an Art Group, in which you paint and do your art, and your viewers do their own art, while also chatting together, sharing tips, etc. It might bring more people to your channel, I think. Anyways, if you did that, I would definitely try to join. Thanks!
Love this idea! I’ve definitely thought about doing this when I have more of a following, but why not now? I agreed that it could bring people to the channel, as well! Thanks so much 😊
Definitely not! I’ve already got another party set up for next month. That’s kind of what my whole channel is about. Figuring out how to build an art career and showing the good and the bad that can go along with it. It’s all a part of the process 😊

Some tremendous and transformative things are on their way for you! I appreciate the chance to listen to your video this morning!
Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. Despite the low turnout of this event, I feel like I have big things ahead of me coming into 2025 👍🏻
I love the Dog Portrait behind you! painting parties sound fun.
Thanks! It’s a Christmas commission I’ve been working on. They are lots of fun! I’ve got two more lined up in January 😊
You are so brave to start and it’s always a learning process! You gotta fake it until your making it!
That’s what I always say haha
Wow those pet portraits turned out great. Hopefully your paint parties take off, looks like it would be fun.

I'd say it's close to the holidays is the reason. It's a great idea to do it again later.
That could definitely play a part. I’ve got 2 more of these parties lined up for Jan so we shall see what happens 👀

The money mixed with art is awkward but the paintings looks so happy !!!!

Definitely! I’ve already got 2 more lined up for after the holidays 😊

If your clients had a good time it was a success🎉
Exactly! 😊
If you have enough fun, 2 people is enough for a party. Btw, I love what did with the peg board from Ikea. They look amazing. Are you happy with them?

I'm not on FB, I'm on X but I'd definitely be interested in doing a paint night on TH-cam.
Oh my gosh, I don't know why I said a FB Live. I meant a TH-cam Live. Good luck!

Hi Audrey .. as we always say: One, or two is better than zero right? :-)
Very true! I’m far from discouraged, though. I feel certain this experience will help me fill more seats next time 😊
@@AudreyGaleArt Believe in it 🙂
Don't give up
Definitely not! I’ve already got another party set up for next month. That’s kind of what my whole channel is about. Figuring out how to build an art career and showing the good and the bad that can go along with it. It’s all a part of the process 😊
Why would you ex[ect anyone to show up? No one would know it wasa happening.
Well my last one sold out. Plus we puts signs up in the store and posted about it a lot on our socials.
That’s cool. Do you have an email address? 🐶
