I went to see this in theatres and walked out not knowing what to feel. It was a lot different than the commercials made it seem. We were so used to see just goofy comedies but this was a dark comedy. Jim Carey was the crazy bad guy and it threw people off. Made us feel uncomfortable lol. At the time I just wanted another “mask” or ace Ventura . I love the movie now though .
Yeah they didn't like Jim in that role. What the actual HUH?!
I went watch it in theaters when i was 12 or 13 thought it was hilarious and disturbing at the same time. No one was expecting that, the low IQ's in the theater were pissed! 🤣

Matthew Gets a message from a mental institution and is somewhat forced but feels guilty about Jim’s character and try’s to be his friend/bring him back. While doing this Jim learns that Matthew has become the fios/internet guy.

How could anyone think that Liar Liar (1997) was better than The Cable Guy (1996)? The Cable Guy (1996) came out when I was only 5. I loved it ever since. It also happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time. When Liar Liar (1997) came out the following year, a lot of people were like “Liar Liar is hilarious!” Yeah right, oh please!

It was a good Jim Carrey movie, people were expecting Ace Ventura but this movie was a little more nuanced, most of the jokes and innunendos went over most teenagers heads, I was one of them at that time.
