Height of hero worship and misogyny, in this movie, in a dance competition Sivaji sir wins.. same thing happens in Manadi mannan between MGR sir and Padmini
See. I put forth my views as follows : Basically Hero was not a dancer at all till he meets the heroine, but a big business shot initially. Later, just to marry her, as a challenge, he learns dance and wins only in that particular situation by drawing the elephant form on floor and by fixing the eyes also. We can also infer that heroine might have voluntarily suppressed her talents, by paving way for him to finally win due to the inner love for him, hided in her heart. Also here concentration/ lack of concentration only plays a greater role in this context than dancing ability. Neither the film crew nor the audience claimed that his performance was as that of a professional dancer. It goes just along with the storyline. That is all. OK. You may say that later the hero is imparting dancing lessons. But here again, I wish to say he wants just a diversion in his life. Not out of (thrusted) passion exclusively. Also all the people who are teaching need not be experts to the core in dance or professional dancers as is applicable in music field also. Then we should bring veteran dancer Kelucharan Mohapatra or Dhananjayan master only to act as hero in the film totally. But about 20 years ago, renowned dancer Dr. Padma Subramaniam conducted a programme entitled 'Natya Sastramum Nadigar Thilagamum' highlighting Sivaji's Dance-like postures, his beautiful Eye expressions, graceful Body gestures, his Stylish looks including in his Mythological/Historical movies, Walking styles and other movements of Sivaji Ganesan, by providing Clippings from many of his movies. She further told Sivaji's Face and Physique (while he was in normal weight) are as per Samudrika லட்சணம் and as narrated in Baradha Sastra. Even veteran actor Sivakumar, being an Artist ( famous Painter himself) told like that and endorsed the above views.. Also Dr. Dhananjayan declared that he drew some Inspirations from Sivaji for creating new dance forms from Sivaji's gestures he observed and praised Sivaji. So, all great dancers acknowledged Sivaji's specialities as narrated above. Thus, since the whole world knows the totality and all-includive nature of Sivaji's acting, there is little need to mention about the wonderful kinesthetic aspect of Sivaji. This is my answer. Finally, can you define exactly the term Overacting, since acting itself is not real ? Cinema is nothing but an exaggerated version. But in many movies, Sivaji acted more naturally than anybody. Sivaji gave subtle acting , even better than others, if you see many of his films with open mind, without any bias and prr-conceived notions. But sorry to say.. he should not have accepted such movies which requires a lot of kinesthetic skills in which he's bad and too old.
