This might literally be the best sounding amp I've ever heard. I'm playing an Orange Rocker 30 into a vintage greenback loaded Marshall cab that I love to death but this Vox may be just the ticket for smaller shows and practicing at home. That just sounds really great. Nice demo.
Love how he always play a familiar tune that is reminiscent of the amp's history as a reference point. Way better than the "other review guy" who just noodles around. Keep up the good work.
Very usually on these amp demo videos, we usually get a guitarist playing some generic blues lick, but on this one the first thing I hear is 'The One I Love.' Refreshingly brilliant, made me smile!
there should be a vox HW amp that has all these features but has the tremolo and reverb of the custom series amps. an amp like that might upset the universal balance of guitar amplifiers.
I always look forward to watching Andy's next demo. He really has a great understanding and knowledge of the equipment he is demonstrating. He also always gets the tone just right when he is playing a cover of a song. Thanks Andy and Pro Guitar Shop!
Vox is always nice But it would be better IMO if they used a potentiometer with a built-in switch for the volume, so when you put i all the way up, it activates the MV bypass. And i'd also re-wire what would be the original MV bypass to switch the output tubes from pentode to triode mode, so i could get a lower power from the amp for a situation like... if i just wanted to play in a weekend at home, with family and friends... or for recording. But that's me XD Anyway, another great video Andy!
great playing top notch.ive upgraded my c1 to the hw more open sounding great amp more volume on tap b n hw no its not a matchless but for 799 out the door .solid amp well done vox
@7endertelecaster I put the blue in, warmes the mids up also have a EI and a LPS in the PI slot. With my tele i have a little 59 to rip it up on the gain side. The SG and les paul are warmer and work well in the hot mode.
I tried both when shopping for mine, and the HW is the better amp no question. the C1 is a good choice if your budget's a bit tight to stretch for the HW, or if you really need the trem/reverb (pretty crappy reverb, actually - though the trem is cool). sonically, the HW is beefier and sparklier all at the same time, and surprisingly versatile too. it's just.....more. compare them side by side and you'll see what I mean. it's easily the best amp I've ever owned.
@machogriz That's a good question! The truth is YT is inconsistent in their encoding. However, the videos on our website will always have the best audio quality possible. Thanks! -PGS Crew
15 watts is MORE than enough to play live for anyone that's ignorant enough to think otherwise. AC15s have always had a classier and refined tone to my ears.
I've been gigging with an AC-15 for 3 years and never turned it up past noon. IMHO 30 watts is overkill for any bar gig, and large clubs will mic your amp anyways.
@solepsis I bought the ac15h1tv, and there are two notable differences. for one, mine doesn't have a master volume. mine also doesn't have a footswitch to control the top boost channel (or the other channel for that matter). there is also the slight cosmetic difference. it's still totally bad-ass, though, and i got it slightly used at a great price. rock on.
Hi!! great video! I have an answer: is the hot mode comparable to the top boost channel boosted with a treble booster, just as brian may and others did?
I find this interesting, because I've been trying to compare the HW versions to my C1. I get some very nice tones by the time I'm cranked to slightly annoying volumes, but I've always wondered about the HW...
Great tones man and your usual great demos! Is the 7.5Watt mode too loud for the house I want to get cranked sounds? Currently got a Blackstar HT5S ministack and looking for a change
@nairblink I'm in the same situation, I'll think I'll go for Handwired, the blues in the C2x aren't made in the UK so they aren't the "real" deal as such, you can buy the blues separately which are UK made, and work out cheaper than getting the HW2x. Plus tone is the most important thing! you don't want to get something that's second best then just end up saving up for the HW2 anyway.
Cool demo, but I wish you'd demonstrated the different speakers with the same guitar so we could hear the actual tonal difference of the speakers, rather than the guitar. Very nice amp, though.
@sokka06 I have a Radial 'Texas Bones' overdrive that I put with mine which can get AC/DC - Black Sabbathy sort of sounds easily. The louder you get with pedals though, the less natural it sounds to me. Crank this bad boy up in the Top Boost channel with some 'buckers and you'll have a big overdriven sound that really cuts through!
I'm thinking about eventually buying this amp. Do you guys think it would sound good for occasionally playing some heavier stuff? I heard one clip with an AC30 boosted with a RAT and it sounded pretty damn heavy. I really love that jangly Vox tone, but I also like to occasionally something a bit heavier.
Andy, I have the AC15C1 with a greenback in it. I am seriously thinking about getting a HW, but I have not had the opportunity to play one and may not get that opportunity where I live. Do you think the new HW is a huge amount better than the AC15C1?
Damn, Andy. Do you nail the demos in one take or does it sometimes take several takes? Just like to know that you are actually human and not some alien riffmaster. Incredible amp, BTW. Love that classic vox chime.
Why don't you demo the master bypass switch? That's the only difference between the previous hand-wired models and the new (besides the fawn tolex). I'm trying to decide between the previous model fire-sale versions, or the newer (and $600 more) models. Does the bypass run it past the preamp and give it a 40s-50s sound? Please assist...
How do you compare the previous Heritage Handwired of 2 years back to the current Handwired? I like the Master Volume option but no EF86? Well that's on paper, but tonewise any help here?
would pgs recommend a fender champ 600 or epiphone valve junior combo for someone who needs good tone for practice, and sometimes recording? hahaha please answer despite the utter randomness.
Hi I love the video. It helped me to decide on buying this amp. I got it and I love it!. I wanted to know what kind of stand was used on this video. Im on the look for a stand and this one looks like it fits perfect. Than you!
I'm torn between the HW and the 15c1. How would you characterize the sonic differences. I've listened to both demo vids but curious to that which does not translate in the videos. Since the demos aren't exact comparisons ie, same gtrs, same settings.
Andy is the only demo whiz who ever plays style-appropriate rock riffs to highlight gear according to expectation/association. Thanks Andy!

YOU HAVE THE BEST REVIEWS IN THE WORLD OF ANY PRODUCT PERIOD
Thanks for not talking all the way through this demo so I could actually hear the amp...unlike most of vox's demos.
If this amp is made in England, I would seriously consider buying it.
Very usually on these amp demo videos, we usually get a guitarist playing some generic blues lick, but on this one the first thing I hear is 'The One I Love.' Refreshingly brilliant, made me smile!
Andy is my gear demonstration hero ever since PGS started to post videos. I wish he was my brother.

These are my absolute favorite guitar tones. Just a guitar into an amp with some reverb.
The tone you got with that 52 is the most beautiful thing ive ever heard, great playing man...
When the lights! Go down! In the city! I love the tones
Vox is always nice

Anyway, another great video Andy!
This one goes out to the one i loooovee.
This one goes out to the one i left behind!!!
andy you are amazing
great playing top notch.ive upgraded my c1 to the hw more open sounding great amp more volume on tap b n hw no its not a matchless but for 799 out the door .solid amp well done vox
Sounds amazing... perfect natural saturation
The One I love- REM
Black Star- Radiohead
Great review and great job on playing the REM classic.
Andy, I love that hand bending of the strat tremolo block!
Can anybody find me somebody to love..........
Awesome as usual Andy. Amazing tone and drive on this.
first amp video I've ever heard anyone play radiohead on thanks dude!
BLACK STAR!!!!!! damm andy you always deliver the right stuff!!!!
@7endertelecaster I put the blue in, warmes the mids up also have a EI and a LPS in the PI slot. With my tele i have a little 59 to rip it up on the gain side. The SG and les paul are warmer and work well in the hot mode.

Great to hear some "The Bends" action....

Andy, your Celebration Day was EPIC!
Liked the playing a little bit of Queen, "Somebody to Love" in there with the strat me thinks!!
15 watts is MORE than enough to play live for anyone that's ignorant enough to think otherwise. AC15s have always had a classier and refined tone to my ears.
I'd have liked to hear a little of the amps clean capabilities.
Man you hit the solo for celebration day... Jiz.
I've been gigging with an AC-15 for 3 years and never turned it up past noon. IMHO 30 watts is overkill for any bar gig, and large clubs will mic your amp anyways.

can't wait for the ac30 demo!!!
@dwmcm1 - Not a boost pedal, just the footswitch for the AC15's Hot Mode. Thanks!
-PGS Crew
I want one! Also, I dig the new settings cam. :)
I like that I know all these songs
AW.... I just got the new AC15 custom and this comes out... Maaaann. I would have gotten this.
Beauty tele!
What an amp!
Great tunes paired with the amp. I like when Vox amps are connected in Stereo with high gain for tones like Queen and Stone Temple Pilots.
@ypperlig89 Wrong, it's Black Star by Radiohead from The Bends album.
nice job of somebody to love!
@carswell98
AC15's absolutely can do clean, even if only to a certain extent. that's all i wanted to see.
3:09 Whats is sweet soul sound!! ive fallin' in love. fantastic
Somebody to love :)
Somebody to loooooooooooooovvvvvvee
Hi!! great video! I have an answer: is the hot mode comparable to the top boost channel boosted with a treble booster, just as brian may and others did?
This one goes out to the one I love.
if you have the money, the ac30 plays better cranked up for gigs than the 15. both are unreal amps though, can't go wrong with either
Ive got a Vox handwired 50th Anniversary edition AC30 w/alnico blues. Is this series relatively the same? Same settings apply?
radiohead with the tele!! nice
I find this interesting, because I've been trying to compare the HW versions to my C1. I get some very nice tones by the time I'm cranked to slightly annoying volumes, but I've always wondered about the HW...
Was the Les Paul section with the green back or the blue? BTW, you guys make the best demos. Thanks for that.
Great demo as always guys! I just wanted to ask where you got the chrome stand for the amp?
Great demo, but what about some clean tone?
I know its 15W, but still...
I have this amp, is there anyway to get the hot switch to sound good?
@777jordan
Yep you got it, definitely Celebration Day with the Les Paul
Great tones man and your usual great demos!
Is the 7.5Watt mode too loud for the house I want to get cranked sounds?
Currently got a Blackstar HT5S ministack and looking for a change
@InspiretoVictory - Andy has been known to do as many as two takes of a particular tune...on a bad day : )
-PGS Crew

@RenaissanceBulldogs1 IT IS FROM THE BENDS !
Hey PGS, i have a vox ac15 my self, im curious to know though, why does the handwired models have more gain and dirt then the regular vox ac15?
Cool demo, but I wish you'd demonstrated the different speakers with the same guitar so we could hear the actual tonal difference of the speakers, rather than the guitar. Very nice amp, though.

ops... i didn't notice the OP switch!
Nevermind what i said in my last comment XD they though of everything for this amp
I'm thinking about eventually buying this amp. Do you guys think it would sound good for occasionally playing some heavier stuff? I heard one clip with an AC30 boosted with a RAT and it sounded pretty damn heavy.

this is brilliant! how does the amp do with pedals?
What are the specs for that les paul?
that's a great tone, and is pretty damn close to jimmy sound!
How do you do that disappearing pick trick when you solo? That's wild. :)
Hi I love the video. It helped me to decide on buying this amp. I got it and I love it!. I wanted to know what kind of stand was used on this video. Im on the look for a stand and this one looks like it fits perfect. Than you!
wihi I got one of these;)
They are truly amazing
What's the difference in tone between this amp and the discontinued Heritage Vox?
Does the AC15 Handwired sound just like the AC30 version, but just at lower wattage?
Its loud enough for small gigs without mics? (for example in pubs)
Radiohead - Black Star
Why do I like the sound from the PGS demo of the AC15C1 better than this HW version?
Hey PGS, what tele is Andy playing in this video?
any word when these will ship? still no sign of them at most stores.
blame it on the blackstar !!!
Thumbs up If your a true Radiohead Fan !
@mescaliiiiine I think it's Celebration Day by Led Zeppelin
What's the difference in the speakers? Anything drastic?
I'm torn between the HW and the 15c1. How would you characterize the sonic differences. I've listened to both demo vids but curious to that which does not translate in the videos. Since the demos aren't exact comparisons ie, same gtrs, same settings.
How is the new VOX AC15 up against a vintage one?
Hey, I think your playing is getting a little better.
the song at the start is R.E.M. right?
Can this amp do clean tones very well?
Hi Andy, is this amp pedal friendly ?
I sold my AC30CC2 couple of month ago because it wasn't and I'd like to know if this one is.
QUEEN!!! :D
i have 2 AC15HW1Xs, curious, any advantage to replacing one of my blues with a gold? i play in stereo. would LOVE to hear a comparison!
So... This vid was posted on my birthday. I think that it's time for FREE AMP SUNDAYS?? Huh? Huh? ;)
What exactly is the difference between this and the ac15h1tv? Is it just cosmetic?
Nice demo, but my God that amp sounds harsh.
