Love the channel but need to comment as i stealth camp frequently in my vw t6 and never have any issues as my van doesn't look like a camper and the last thing i do at night is drive to where I'm sleeping, hop in the back and go to sleeo, then and am up and away around 7am before the locals are moving around - i usually park next to parked cars and frequently in quiet residential streets, hidden in plain sight If you're parking in something that looks like a conversion in the middle of nowhere it's obvious that you're camping - the opposite of stealth especially if you're cooking/opening doors and moving around Finally - if you're struggling with condensation on the windscreen etc then a cheap dehumidifier will prevent those steamy windows
same here. As well as stealth camping i also sleep in my van to save on hotel costs if im working away from home (i'm a tradesman). I avoid car parks and quiet areas as you tend to stick out more so always park in relatively busy residential streets and i then just blend in, as you say, hidden in plain sight. My van is a panel van with a bulkhead so no light leaks and being long wheel base plenty of room to get comfy.
I do a lot of stealth camping trips in the UK and my golden rule is avoid Cornwall (or at least if you go to Cornwall pony up for a campsite and avoid the hassle). Everywhere else in the UK including Devon is fine but i can never find a good spot in Cornwall. Then again my van is also pretty stealthy as the van is black so the windows don't show up so much, I only have windows in the doors so I can pass as a crew van and I hide my solar panel with roof rails and bars to make it less obvious. I try my best to keep a balance between being camper-y enough to not get turned away from campsites but van-y enough to just park on a street or in a layby just fine.
@@misterthegeoff9767 Totally agree with you and some great tips mate. I've often wondered why people don't rent out their front drives of their houses for touring camper vans. May not be for everyone with a drive but i'm sure quite a lot of people would be interested for a bit more income, certainly money to be made. Don't know how one would set up a community or an 'app' for this but someone should jump on it. I'm happy enough kipping in my van but my issue is i like a few beers at night so unless i'm of the road that's a big no no in case i get moved on.
Great of you to offer an amazon card but at the end of the day you do all the hard work you should spend any small wins towards the new build I say this cos I bought the string lights and love it will use it camping this year have used in the garden and I take it with me when I go to friends as extra night light in the garden and always a conversation piece😊
When I was touring the UK the last year I found that you can still find places to park up in most of the country, but not in Cornwall. I ended up leaving Cornwall after 5 days to go back to Devon, where I was made to feel welcome everywhere I stopped instead of facing no parking signs everywhere and, in the worst case, waking up to freshly painted double yellow lines around my camper
I think it’s the Cornwall County Council trying to protect the business interests of all the campsite owners. It’s probably a massive part of the Cornwall economy. But I think they should at least allow overnight parking for a £10-£20 fee, depending on facilities and views etc.
As places become more popular due to being advertised on you tube etc the locals start complaining and the councils introduce restrictions ruining it for all of us .
The extra 20p on the Just park app goes to the developers of the App. Not just for making it but updating it and hosting the infrastructure the runs it
I think it’s worth it just for the hassle-free way you can extend your parking stay remotely if you stay somewhere longer than expected so you can relax without worrying about getting an overstay fine or rushing back to your vehicle.
I've never heard of Porthkidney probably because i'm from Yorkshire and haven't been to Cornwall for about 30 years but its beautiful and the water looks so inviting.

Hi - great channel and love the content. In view of the issues you had with your solar setup, would a portable power station that has the inverter, solar charge controller and battery itself be a better approach than a leisure battery? They are very competitively priced these days - an Aferiy 2KWh unit with 2000watt Inverter is £899.00 these days. I've been using one in my home office for 2 years and it's been great - 3500 charge/discharge cycles and comes with a 5 year warranty.
