One of the most incredible thing is that Erh Hai lake was polluted 20+ years ago and they manage to not just clean it up but made it like what you experienced, makes one almost hopeful for our planet

I love Yunnan! Dali looks heavenly, I would love it. I have been to Lijiang which is gorgeous too but I have still many places to discover in Yunnan. I envy you guys you’re traveling around China. I have been many times in China throughout 20+ years but always feel I haven’t seen enough. One tip: Yunnan coffee is really good. Try their specialty coffee beans. I’m a barista and recommend you to try pour over coffees instead of americano. The flavor notes of filter coffees will elevate your coffee experience.

We were there last year and fell in love right away so we bought a travel stay home during our first trip in YunNan. We felt so lucky they allow US citizen to own a property there. We will retire early and move to China soon!

I just travelled to 大理 2months ago and stayed at 洱海 for 5 days. it is a very pleasant cozy place. honestly, I do not recommend the tourist to visit those popular photo spots like S Bay and Li xiang bang etc. Well~, if you guys want to see an original style of the ancient town, you should go to 巍山古城, where is the ancient capital of South Shao, with non-commercial. Overall, Dali is a nice place worth visiting again! I hope you have a good trip!

Wow, I'm just leading a volunteer teaching group in Wase, Dali, Which is a small town near Shuanglang ancient town, the fantastic scenery do make me feel pretty relaxed and warm! BTW, maybe next time you can go to visit the Cangshan Mountain (苍山), which is on the west side of Lake, it looks more like heaven (especially on the top)🥰

I have seen many comments about concerns about traveling in China. Don't worry, my friends. Even if you can't speak Chinese, Alipay or WeChatpay is enough. Most of the local young people can use simple English. If you have problems that are difficult to express, you can also use mobile phones to translate them. Welcome to travel to China!

Cant say its 100% accurate but saw someone posted on social media that they have bought a loft for 45m2 and the price was roughly 800Krmb (and they are close to the ErHai so technically the closer you get the pricier it is). That price looks decent (specially compared to the city that I live lol). If you rent for a month or even say half year, it gon be cheaper for sure, it could be around 100rmb one night for long stay
Nice choice to stay in Shuanglang town. It has lots of waterfront hotels. I’ve stayed at a few ones, different styles. I really love waking up to the tranquil lake with ducks and birds floating on it, and just casually feed them from the window or balcony. Really laid-back
It is so interesting to me as a Turk that you questioned if that area is in China or Greece. And even there were places like Santorini as referring to your analogy by the locals as well. Cause in Turkish “Yunan” means Greek :) I wonder if there is any story behind that in any sense :)

Yunnan is truly the most beautiful place in China, thanks to its low latitude, high altitude, and diverse ethnic groups!
That’s one of my favorite dramas, called Meet Yourself, in Chinese 去有风的地方. It’s filmed in Yunnan and really healing!

My how things have changed since my last visit to Dali in spring 1987! Yunnan is easy to fall in love with.

Cant say its 100% accurate but saw someone posted on social media that they have bought a loft for 45m2 and the price was roughly 800Krmb (and they are close to the ErHai so technically the closer you get the pricier it is). That price looks decent (specially compared to the city that I live lol). If you rent for a month or even say half year, it gon be cheaper for sure, it could be around 100rmb one night for long stay
Nice choice to stay in Shuanglang town. It has lots of waterfront hotels. I’ve stayed at a few ones, different styles. I really love waking up to the tranquil lake with ducks and birds floating on it, and just casually feed them from the window or balcony. Really laid-back

It is so interesting to me as a Turk that you questioned if that area is in China or Greece. And even there were places like Santorini as referring to your analogy by the locals as well. Cause in Turkish “Yunan” means Greek :) I wonder if there is any story behind that in any sense :)
