Went to a game many years ago in the old Toledo Sports Arena and a fan caught a deflected shot smack in the face , they took him down to the locker room and stitched him up and he returned to watch the remainder of the game. Crowd went nuts cheering him.

That when the sports commentators started talking about the toughness of NHL players verses MLB/NBA/NFL players.
If my teammate takes a shot and deflects it off my face, that counts as my goal, right? I would assume so since I'm the last one to touch the puck but there's often weird exceptions to rules so I am curious.

Correct. Last player to touch the puck is credited with the goal. Painful way to score a goal, but a goal is a goal.
