I was 6 years old, pretty much only knew hip-hop (at least songs I could name), and even I knew this soundtrack was dope. The nostalgia/memories actually drove me to search for this game/music
Holy heck. This was my game of childhood. Seeing all the cars cycled through sparked SO many memories. Even the fun ones like Hot Dog, the police charger, and the Pitbull Special. Oh man what a blast. I turned this game into my own 'open world' game. Even though it was a closed track, I'd pretend that certain houses were my house and friends houses, and I'd just cruise around. it was DOPE.
This may be odd to say but I love watching all the playthroughs with TH-camrs who aren't stupid famous. I love MrGtar321 (for fighting games), Super GT (for racing) and for old long play games I use World of Longplays. I think the folks like you deserve more recognition and more income from this. You are all awesome and deserve more out of this platform. Keep up the good work.
Damn, I've been searching for this game for years... now I realize this is the one I had when I was a kid, along with other PS1 classics like Spyro and Spider-Man. Nostalgia..
I remember being in front of the play station with my dad getting so hyped about this game. This was one of my first video games and my first racing game. Ah the memories:)
Man this right here was my most Played Test Drive Game next to Off-Road! Man I miss going down that Hill in San Francisco and then going back up Later that Night My 11 Year Old Childhood was great times!
O melhor jogo da franquia para PS de todos os tempos!!!! A abertura e o playlist eram foda!!! Quando não era o jogo em si, eram as músicas... Simple the best!!!
Also one of my earliest games i played when i was a child! Also what got me to absolutely fall in love with Dodge Viper GTS cause well it was on the box cover.
My favorite Race Car game besides Need 4 Speed Hot Pursuit on X- Box 360. I used to play this all day! I unlocked everyboard & car. I used to love watching the replays, because it would show the whole thing. I used to make the hot dog car rock side to side, like it had hydraulics when I drive. My sister & brother used to love to watch me play.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
this was my all time favorite test drive game of the franchise. music i can jam too while driving bad ass licensed cars from the world's best manufacturers. then you unlockable fictional cars as well like the hot dog and Chris's beast. my favorite cars in the game are the 1998 ford mustang saleen s351 and the c5 vette. favorite track is san Francisco fwds and reverse dorection. then there was that hidden kick ass fear factory video at the main menu. so many great things this game had to offer
This is one of my favorite racing games alongside the Midnight Club games from the PS1 era. This takes me back. It was a fun game. I still play this every now and then.
@@Victor_2000s Are you paying attention to the comment my boy. I said alongside which means that my comment still hold true. I just added Midnight Club because I played that as well. Remember that people we're still playing the PS1 and PS2 back in the end of 1999 and the beginning of 2000. You probably wouldn't know that unless you were too young to know. Also back then we traded games in school. I remember trading some of my PS1 games for my classmates PS2 games. We brought them in school back then.
@@Victor_2000s Kids would bring their XBox as well in class at the end of school in the science class room to play some Madden back then. Just because the PS2 came out that didn't stop us from playing older games so the PS2 era didn't completely ended the PS1 era because we still played all those older games.
@@sevenheavenhavengaming I know the PS1 still is a thing in 2000, but the first game was released in later of 2000, in the first year of the Playstation and in thst year, developers stopped to make games for PS1 to bring for PS2.
@@Victor_2000s Also you do know that the PS2 was backwards compatible with PS1 games right? If you wanna get technical with it the last licensed Playstation 1 game was released in October 12, 2004 for North America. Depending on what country you lived in that will differ so what's your point? If you're trying to correct me on when Test Drive 5 was released then that was 1998 but the month is different depending on what country you lived in. Midnight Club came out in 2000 but the month differs depending on where you lived in. I still clearly remember getting my PS2 for my birthday that time in 2000. I played The Legend of Dragoon and Final Fantasy IX the most on PS1 but still kept playing on PS2 because you can use the PS1 memory card on the PS2!
I remember not liking this one back in the day, despite being a big fan of Fear Factory and of car racing games. From memory I didn't like the way the cars handled, it just felt "off" somehow. Mind you, most car racing games from this era felt "off" in that way too, so this wasn't only this game that felt that way to me. Perhaps it was only that it was different to whatever I was playing and used to back then, I don't know now, it feels like a lifetime ago now.
Troy Wilkins the cars where too twitchy in this game. The only way to combat this is to turn the handling all the way up like this player has done, down side is you have to sacrifice your top speed and acceleration just to do it.Fine tuning is key. BUT. You can only tune your car in single race. Championship races you're on your own. Which is total BS...
I just watched a video on facebook about the evolution of NFS, and every car game gets me back to this game, best sountracks and gameplay no matter the graphics, would change those new race games to get this one again.
took me years to find this masterpiece last time i played it i was 4 or 5 years old and i searched it for years this and stronghold crusader was my first games 😂
The music was great and driving all the oldschool muscle cars was so cool But it was sometimes (mostly) a pain in the ass to play😂 Difficulty was sometimes insane, when your oponends could push you around and the police only chased you
The mastalgia is real to bad I never got to beat since I never got a memory card until I got a ps2 now I'm replaying it on my pc to unlock all the cars etc it's amazing how unique each track was with the li.ited hardware! I also remember when I was young how I loved watching the replay and seeing the ai crash like crazy hahahaha I also like that level where it's raining I think the level is moscow russia and like it's night time too ahhh somehow it was immersive for me when I was young and playing at night before going to bed lol c:
Pitchshifter, Gravity Kills, KMFDM and Fear Factory. This soundtrack is a masterpiece.

Lol me neither
Man, this and Gran Turismo 2 make me really miss bad ass licensed soundtracks.
All the Test drives had good sound tracks
# 5 was great & i think better then #6, # 7 was called plain "test drive" then i think they made the "unlimited" series.
sled storm, motorstorm tons of good releases over the years

Melhor jogo de corrida dos anos 90 p mim, test drive 5, também as músicas do jogo q são um show 👍
Gostava demais desse jogo. Test Drive 5, o melhor da franquia no PS1. Anos 90, que nostalgia...
The globe level selection and the soundtrack.... holy cow this game was so cool.
So no one going to talk about how much of a badass this guy is at this game? No? Guess I will lol.
Im guessing this soundtrack styles reminiscing what kind of speeding for the game. Indeed entertained
I used to LOVE the handling on this game. So fun yet still challenging.
This was my first game i played on the PS1
Ditto
I still have the game disk somewhere in my bedroom. So many hours invested into the game as a kid.
One of my favorite racers.
The memories of this game, the flashbacks. I was happy as a child. Now I'm grown and old but this made month. Thank you for uploading this.
The game that introduced me to the Nissan Skyline, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and TVR Cerbera. Nice!
One of the most underrated racing games. OF ALL TIME
Always loved this game to bits. Not sure why but this was always one of my favourite racing games
the secret cars in this game were awesome
This makes me remember the good old days and the days in my childhood I wish I could forget I could escape in a game like this.
i feel like game nowdays is nothing compare old game PS1 , opening like that make my racing heart burning aaah so Classic .
Es un juegazo.. Me encantó, lo terminé muchas veces y ahora mismo lo vuelvo a jugar
Una pregunta y los coches especiales los tiene porque ya se paso el juego completo??
*Nostalgia used punch*
It is super effective
