That power plant is the Mitchell power plant and it is no longer operational. It closed in 2018. The machinery you see there is used to contain the water from running off the site. All water has to be treated at an onsite treatment facility. That's not a slag dump, its a coal ash mound from the power plant. It contains heavy metals and things they don't want leaving the site.

I have 2 trickle chargers and usually use them but this winter has been so warm, I still ride once every week or so. I'm surprised that would be long enough to kill a battery. I put it on my reconditioner and it seems to be holding a charge for now.

That abandoned building is like a dream work shop, surrounded by nothing, big enough for some projects and conrete floor
