Yes, I've seen that cartoon also. It's the one where Tom played piano and Jerry danced, and ended up attracting a large audience, and it was supposed to be set in 1800s Europe and Tom was playing Strauss pieces such as Blue Danube to get Jerry dancing, and there was a narrator with European accent
While we modern musicians do tend to have things a lot easier, there are a couple areas in which we actually have it harder. For example, modern musical techniques emphasize rote memorization of explicitly-defined canonical versions of pieces, with improvisation being somewhat discouraged. As a result, it's much harder to pass off mistakes as "interpretation", and a lot of modern pianists (at least at the lower levels) have problems recovering from mistakes. Also, relative to the 17th century segments, I have a couple nitpicks. First off, the modern piano didn't exist back then. They only had fortepianos, which were vanishingly rare. Second, they only started to become famous in the early *18th* century. Third, even after they became "a thing" it still took a century for the advent of the modern piano to make the instrument popular; before that point it was essentially a fancy harpsichord. This brings me to my fifth point: it would have sounded nothing like a modern piano. It had a harsher tone (that actually garnered a lot of hate), and the sustain only did a sort of short-lived echo; you couldn't get the long sustains that he does when he improvises on the Blue Danube. Otherwise, quite funny.

As someone who was trained in classical piano from 7-14 (multiple lessons a week, every week, all year long) At age 32 I'm beginning to realize I have TONS of memories tied to classical piano. 😂❤👍 Lots of those memories were about being bored... but... on occasion, I remember playing some pieces that were hard as heck to learn, but once I learned them, they were actually FUN to play! I should really consider finding a new teacher to help me get back into playing piano. ❤ Just like exercise, practicing an instrument every day isn't actually a challenge if you can find a way to make it fun & engaging. 👍 (that's the secret to winning at life, it's not about being the best, or having the most. Its all about having a diverse variety of interests, hobbies & passions throughout life to share with your friends & family. That way when you're on your death bed, you can honestly say: I lived my life to the fullest & never forgot what matters most. Family & fun!) I agree very much with the productivity part.
I enjoyed being stared at through a computer screen while a talented pianist ate a piece of lettuce.

That's not a bad thing though.
As someone who was trained in classical piano from 7-14 (multiple lessons a week, every week, all year long) At age 32 I'm beginning to realize I have TONS of memories tied to classical piano. 😂❤👍 Lots of those memories were about being bored... but... on occasion, I remember playing some pieces that were hard as heck to learn, but once I learned them, they were actually FUN to play!
I should really consider finding a new teacher to help me get back into playing piano. ❤ Just like exercise, practicing an instrument every day isn't actually a challenge if you can find a way to make it fun & engaging. 👍
(that's the secret to winning at life, it's not about being the best, or having the most. Its all about having a diverse variety of interests, hobbies & passions throughout life to share with your friends & family. That way when you're on your death bed, you can honestly say: I lived my life to the fullest & never forgot what matters most. Family & fun!)
