Hey Cole. Great video. I grew up fishing the Big Piney River in Missouri. A smallmouth, and as you call them , an Ozark red-eye bass, haven. Up here in Missouri we call them Goggle-eye. Some folks call them rockbass. Whatever you call them they are delicious. Thanks so much.

Awesome trip! I have always considered smallmouths to be the "redfish" of freshwater fish. Nothing fights like them, pound for pound. Redeyes are delicious!

Yep… have caught, killed and eaten thousands of fish in the past 60 years. So, I have eaten every one of my PB’s. Never been much for catch and release. I just stop fishing, go home when I have enough to feed my family. This way, I won’t injure or traumatize a fish for no reason.

@@jed1166 I'd keep more fish but I suck at cooking and I hate cleaning them. Crappie bluegill and trout are the three species I can catch within range of my bike so I keep them a lot and eat em. Plus they are really easy to clean 👍

I don’t ever remember “tackling and releasing” a black bear or mule deer buck… or “trapping and releasing” a mallard duck or pheasant,(I’ve killed and eaten a bunch of bear, deer, ducks & pheasants too). What would be the difference between trapping and releasing and mule deer, and catching and releasing a trout? I see no difference….
Really interested in your perspective on this one…(maybe you catch and release deer?)

Great video I follow Cole and Jay channel the most but John channel is similar type of fishing I do so I also follow his channel a lot , so it's great to see you together enjoying each others company fishing together. Be nice if you planned another video together but John need heavier equipment if he plans to go after the big kitty cats.
We plan on getting back together when it warms up this spring or summer!! We had a great time!

They’ll freeze a little bit with extreme weather but never really enough to ice fish
Is that the White River or the Buffalo? I used to catch redeye bass when I was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. We would Wade the creeks and use small plastics. Great fishing.

If you wear a belt around your waist over the waters when you dump over they will not fill with water.

A 3lb smallmouth in an Ozark mountain river/stream/creek is a really nice fish. It’s all relative to location. A 3lb smallie in Lake Michigan is small. Haha

Cole, stop what you are doing, go to the nearest Bass Pro Shop or local Arkansas equivalent , with a list, and purchase landing nets and fish striners for all your and Jays kayaks, river bank fishing kit and a couple extra stringers for your on the go tackle boxes. Then, pin a post it on you daily planner board to remind you to replace them after use back where they belong.
It is hard to believe a professional fisherman can be SO forgetful of essential gear!
