For those of us who don't quite understand refrigeration but still love your videos, what exactly is the click of death and what causes it??

    • @BenTh17
      @BenTh17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I think he means the compressor drawing too many amps trying to start and the overload relay clicking as it opens. It happens when these lock or seize up sometimes

Gotta love how Copeland smacks that “Oil charged per BoM” sticker right on top of the embraco sticker. Nobody will notice!

In aus we would have just changed the condensing set usually there is only a $150 difference between just the compressor and the whole set, saves going back for a condenser motor later, although most of the time we have to wait a day or 2 for parts where we are. Sick video, love the gear you use

if you opened both sides of the manifold gauge for recovery arent you risking cross contamination? i dont even see a y fitting from the manifold hoses into 1 3/8 recovery hose into a filter dry into the machine

I have been searching for an answer to my issue for 2 days and have come up empty. I hope you can help. I had a new chest freezer delivered 2 days ago and it was unboxed in my house. I noticed the vent grooves were very dirty so I ran my finger across it and it was either gray dust or powder. Before plugging it in, I wanted to make sure what I saw wasn't also inside the vent so I removed the panel and it is like new. I was relieved, but then noticed the compressor has a hardball sized discoloration on it, like it faded to grey. I have looked at dozens of compressor images online (can't find the exact replacement part) and they are all shiny and pure black. Even your used one looks ok. I'm wondering if this is not a brand new freezer after all.

Great job as usual, I was after you’re opinion can you evacuate the system to quick

  • @hemicoupe2539

Real question is why the comp failed.
I might suggest the cap tube system overcharged after last repair.
Often with a shit cap tube the tendency is to overcharge to get a correct evaporating temp - it works for a while - then either seized (oil washed away by liquid at start up) or inefficient (due to liquid return at start up breaking valve plates).
Often the end failure is preceeded by a start cap failure.
ALWAYS replace capillary when possible. The factory usually had it wrong.
I recommend/use the secop sizing program, but it's far from perfect.

Dave have you been doing Nor-Cal as a side gig from the beginning? Just on weekends and nights? You work 7 days a week? I've had a C20 for a long time but I'm happy working for one of the OEMs..I've thought about going out on my own or maybe just doing weekend change outs or service calls. Must be worth the hassle if you've been at it for so long.

Do you still use your testis or do you use the fieldpiece just ordered the 2nd gen testo with extra pipe clamp and temp humidity probe for AC work

I use them with MeasureQuick you can use both Fieldpiece and Testo at same time.

I HAD THE SAME CLICK HAPPEN TO ME TODAY!
I am working on a little old masterbuilt reach in freezer and you could hear the same clicks
    No evap fans
One condenser fan. Constantly running with the other cycling on and off followed by a click
My semi hermetic comp is super hot
My start cap is hot but within the proper mfd(run cap is in range and not bulging)
I have an open leg on the coil of my potential relay. I was going to switch out some start components tomorrow but I think that compressor is going to go soon... condenser unit has a paint marker scripe that says compressor changed in 2013...
I'm just trying to get them going for awhile
    What do you think
Learn a lot from you dude thanks

Went to the site and installed them.
Went to go turn on the circuit breaker
AND some D-bag from another company lock-out_tag-out my breaker
      Major wrench in the works

I took apart the old potential relay and saw the contacts were jacked. The compressor on this reach in was changed in 07... just to give you some perspective on this turd I am trying to polish
