    New research has shown that Psilocybe cyanescens is conspecific with Psilocybe subaeruginosa, they are essentially the same species. Psilocybe cyanescens was introduced to the UK and the US most probably by shipment of live plants from Australia.

    I found a load of big wavy caps in my raised beds made from tree trunks today , obviously mature because they are quite big around 4cm across and very wet so a chestnut brown , i'm doing a spore print but they're so dirty i'm not sure that'll confirm for me , the stems do look inky since i picked them and the cap rim is darker than the cap they're slimy and sticky and the stem is club like , is there anything that similar to them that it could be something else ? , i found another that is more of an orange colour but it was protected from the rain ,looks the part but is smaller and the stem scratched more ginger than blue , are 2 types likely in the same space ? will drying the big ones give me more clues ?

      Without pictures it would be hard to determine what mushrooms you have. Wavy caps do not tend to go inky. The stems and caps tend to turn a bluish purple to almost black colour as they age. You need to be careful as they do have some similar looking mushrooms that can cause illness and in some cases death so be careful.

    I live in Wales! Reckon it's possible to find em after that rain? I reckon a couple weeks yet? Did find a ton of amaneta last year and libs course ;)

    • @WelshLibertyLovers
      @WelshLibertyLovers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We didn't find any Amenita. We usually start to see the cyans a little later than libs. When the temps really drop at the beginning of October and yes they like lots of rain :)

    Help please. I think I picked these up? But not sure. Similar look, brown and wavy with white stems. However afterwards the stem starts to become brown/grey. Gills are brown? Is this correct? Or a different mushroom. Thank you

      @WelshLibertyLovers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We could not possibly entertain trying to idenditify any mushroom without seeing either the mushroom or images of them. If you have a facebook account there are plenty of groups dedicated to identify these and other mushrooms. Or if you have images you can email them to us and we will have a look :)

    Hey when it comes to indoor mushroom growing are these good? And do you know how liberty caps are to grow?

    • @WelshLibertyLovers
      @WelshLibertyLovers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Again you can but it is difficult to do. And there are more suitable psilocybes for indoor mycology :) Liberty Caps like unploughed grazed areas fruiting during Autumn.

    Where's the best place in Wales to find them this is my first year looking

    • @WelshLibertyLovers
      @WelshLibertyLovers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Potentially any established wood chip/mulch beds could have them. They are not particlular to Wales. Budget supermarket flower beds have proved good grounds :) Good luck.
