From Wash to Detail: Free Watercolor Orchid Painting Lesson

I recently painted orchids with watercolor for my TH-cam channel, and here’s the process I followed:
Stage 1: Background & Shadows
I began with a wet-on-wet technique to create a soft, atmospheric background and gentle shadows. Keeping the paper wet allowed more time to work, resulting in a beautifully loose and fluid backdrop.
Stage 2: Detailing
Once the paper was completely dry, I added the intricate details. This stage let me work without rushing, ensuring that every detail of the orchid stood out with clarity and precision.
